Ahriman the Deceiver Crew

As i am sure many of you have watched, the old Call of Cthulhu silent movie was basically a pile of walking rotting ****. I have found through searching the internet that later this year a movie called Cthulhu will be released to theaters. It will be based on many of the Mythos (not only the Lovecraftian ones).

I loved the silent movie. I heard the new Cthulhu movie was going to suck but it looks good.

Heard it was going to suck and by the entire outlook of it I didn't think it had much to do with Cthulhu at ALL...
Never seen any of the lovecraft movies sweatdrop Not the "OMFG ITS CTHULHU!!!" blatanly obvious ones anyways, and the only thing that I seen that mentioned Cthulhu was Nightmares and Dreamscapes...

You haven't seen ANY of them!? eek
Not Necronomicon (it was weird and butchered several stories) or the Silent movie (told the story excellently) or Dagon (just the story of Innsmouth but with a stupid main characters some sluts and in stead of being in Mass it was in Spain) or even Reanimator (Sucky but in a <3 way)!?

I caught Necronomicon on TV a bunch of times and the others I found in Blockbuster or at conventions. If you ever get the chance I do suggest checking them out though. It's fun just to watch a movie where you know what's going on more then the actors do.
Re-Animator 2 should be shown at every gay pride parade and now there's a Re-Animator 3 coming out! X.X

People have yet to make a descent Lovecraftian movie that doesn't butcher the original story. I don't see why it's that way, it shouldn't be that difficult to get proper actors and effects.

i just found out the the new movie cthulhu is based on shadow over innsmouth, cthulhu has nothing realy to do with it,well,,, a little,,, stupid dagon.

Yah, this is one of the reason why most people think the movie will suck, because the title has nothing to do with the story...
Like, they just put that title because people know more about Cthulhu than about Dagon... Marketing I guess...
Liked the silent movie though, respected most parts of the original story smile

Odo_The_Witchhunter i just found out the the new movie cthulhu is based on shadow over innsmouth, cthulhu has nothing realy to do with it,well,,, a little,,, stupid dagon. Wha? but The Shadow Over Innsmouth has been done to death. "Dagon" was a good movie, and it doesn't need to be redone.

I don't see why it's that way, it shouldn't be that difficult to get proper actors and effects. People have yet to make a descent movie based off ANY book without butchuring the story. It just happens. Now with short stories it should be easier but apperantly it's not. It doesn't mean they have to makea bad movie though. Look at Dagon. Its not 100% true to the story, they mesh elements of Dagon with The Shadow Over Innsmouth but its good.

Out of curiosity why did the silent movie suck? because the one i saw was a cheap rip off of a differnt one that was listed as made in an earlier year to make up for the lack of acting skills and graphics
