i was talking to the gamestop clerk the other day and we got on the subect of the play station 3 and he was telling me all about how its goign to be 600 dollars? thats INSANE! the gfx are going to be no different thatn the xbox 360. are they trying to make up for lost money or something? because Sony IS a small company.
In technicalities the xbox 360 and PS 3 are basically buying cheap computers with buffed up gfx cards....so in reality these are good prices for something thats no different than a good computer....but in gods name they have the pretty much same gfx ....so what the fudge?

Sony is really in deep s--t and everyone knows it. That is why no one will buy it. As of now, its nintendo FTW~!!!!!!!! then 360 at a distant 2nd.....

Heh I still think xbox is in the lead just for the online playability (Halo 2 online is just really fun)
But PS3 should it ocme out with some really great games, will boost its way up
Sounds like if they sell it for that price they are going to lose a lot of money...I guess they hope to make it up on products and games
And the Wii looks interesting but I'm not sure I'll get it, some of the previews using the controllers seemed a bit..clunky
But I'll try it out once its in Besy Buy or someplace

well.....actually the thread i posted not too long ago on the game, Assasin's Creed is most likely going to be out on PS3 once it comes out next year after PS3 comes out....that game looks bad a**...and hopefully one of the many new games for the PS3 that will boost its sales....but....i doubt it.

I'm telling you guys, by the end of this year the wii will have troused all the competition. Probably the best way to go would be to get a 360 and a wii. So 360 could be pretty close to wii. But I know that Sony isnt going to be leading in the console market.

Actually, it's probably the Sony Entertainment branch you're talking about. The main branch of Sony that makes the electronic appliances, TVs, radios, isn't actually small by any margin. *shrug* But yeah, $600 is too much for a next-gen console. Aye.

It was more like $450 or something but now a preowned one is only $350

uh... o_o i'd rather just get a wii. i mean... what's improved on the ps3? graphics? speed? boring~ gameplay is more important to me. that's why nintendo is going to lead microsoft and sony when the wii comes out. because they're more creative.

$600 is totally reasonable for the mini-super comuter you get out of it. On top of that, it will be the ceapest blueray disk reader on the market. You can draw strong parallels to the PS1 which was the cheapest DVD reader on the market when it first came out and a large portion of its sales can be attributed to that fact. Perhaps the PS3 will get a similare boost.
I'm totally looking forward to the Wii and appreciate its price point and inovation. I don't need two super machines. I can use the Wii for fun nintendo games (Zelda all the way!) and use the PS3 for my massive, awsome, RPGs (Final Fantasy and Shin Megami).
(And now my bias takes over) Screw XBox, it's just a bunch of sports games, racing games, and shooters. That's cool if you like that thing, but it can not be argued that that console lacks variety and is not a large leap from last generation hardware and gameplay innovation. The XBox 360, is uninspired and the software reflects that.
