In a city similar to New York but not exactly the same place, alien sightings have grown in large numbers. Various statements of UFOs hovering above buildings, eerie lights shining through windows and strange colored, strangely dressed looking people roaming out in the middle of the night.
Of course no one takes these sightings seriously.
Despite the ever growing increase in missing persons, destruction of farming crops in the formation of odd shapes or the various incidents of cows appearing on top of barnyards, people refuse to believe that a possible alien threat might be occurring.
But as the strange phenomenas continue to occur, the people of said city my start thinking differently.

Eli stood in the back of his families bakery where all goods were cooked, kneading the dough required to make bread the infamous Cooper bread the little business was known for. It would've been tons easier too if his sisters hadn't popped in repeatedly, disturbing his work and utter destroying what he was doing. In fact, this was the fifth thing of dough he'd gone through in that day, the rest having be dropped, spilt on and in other numerous ways destroyed.
"Next time, it'll be the water hose or somethin'... or I'll just through them in the oven... no one'll know..." he grumbled as he worked, trying hard to keep his temper down in case he over kneaded and messed up and wasted yet another thing of dough.

Jeffrey walked as casually as she could past the backery. She had been slinking past all day, peeking in through the door and tried nabbing a view of the breadmaker. Sadly, nothing could be seen but pestering children and ackward customers.
"Damn...once again I am thwarted from my midday chip in dough knowledge gatherfest..." She sighed, sitting in the door way of Eli's backery. She recieved odd looks from customers both wishing to enter and exit the shop. Eventually the people stepped over her to get out and just in general quit coming in.

Eli blinked, noticing the difficulties his potential customers were facing. He cocked an eyebrow, thinking for a moment that the tiny wooden step out front was loose before noticing the person sitting in the doorway.
He gave a small frown, focusing on the person to see if they were a pay-off froma rival pizzaria nearby that didn't get nearly as much buisness. After dealing with the customers that had been able to get around the road-block, he walked out and tapped her on the shoulder.
"I know you might be desperately tired but I'm sorry to say you can't sit there." he informed her, looking at her curiously. "Haven't I seen you walk by 27 times today?"

Jeffrey blinked and looked up to Eli, tilting her head back until it was upside-down. "uhhh..." she began. She had come up with an excuse for if she ever got caught, but she'd forgotten about it in the mess of tangled information she'd recieved that day... So far she'd found out what shade of lipstick to wear with what dress, what time the bus came and left, where to go for good manacoti...everything but what she was looking for.
"If I can't sit here, then where can I sit?" She asked him.

Eli stared at her ackwardly for a moment before glancing around.
"Well...." he began, tapping the side of his head lightly before looking back at Jeffrey. "You could sit at one of the table is here thatt AREN'T in the doorway..." he said with a nod, his eyes squinting a bit as he looked at her.
"Of course you have to buy something, can't stand to have you taking up a seat for no reason...no offense." he state matter-o-factly.

((I didn't even notice that our characters had the same last name Mak...weird...))
Alison was walking by the bakery and stopped seeing the comotion with the girl sitting in front of the door. She came in the bakery alot because she liked the smell, and their cookies. She watched the two for a moment and chuckled at the conversation. "I didn't know you had a living door stop too, though I think she's hindering traffic more then helping." Alison commented. "And I'd like to get in for some cookies." She said simply.
She also liked doing her homework in the bakery. It was quiet and yet had just the right amount of noise. That was when Ebony poked her head out of Alison's bookbag and then made a full apperance for all to see. As if she wanted to watch these silly humans, or simply wanted a cookie too. "And I think Ebony might like you." She said with a smile.

Jeffrey twitched her eyebrow at the sight of Ebony. She thought the creature to be rather creepy, since it resembled both a rat, a cat, and a slinky. Jeffrey stood up and headed inside. She wondered if Eli knew her by now as his official stalker, but rather hoped not. She did her best to stay hidden.
"35 times..." She said, answering his earlier question of how many times she'd passed. Going in somewhat hunched, her eyes half-lidded and a frown upon her face, Jeffrey entered the bakery. She sat herself down and figured this to be somewhat a well opportunity to discover what these 'cookies' were of his. "Well...I'll...try...uhhm..." She said, looking them over. She'd aquired money from a stranger after mugging him and hiding his unconscious body in a dumpster...she'd tried buying something earlier but was denied due to her lack of the green papers with numbers on them.
"I'll have the white round doughy thing with the purple rocks on top." She said finally.

Eli smiled at Alison, recognizing her as what he considered 'a regular'. He blinked and returned to behind the counter, looking at Jeffrey ackwardly at what she asked.
"You mean...a donut?" he asked, making note that her request consisted of 'purple rocks' though the only thing he knew to have purple being the donuts on display.
"Ohhhhkkaayyy then..." he said tohimself, pulling out a piece of pastery paper fromthe nearby box. Using it as a sort of napkin he grabbed a donut and placed it on the counter near the register.
"Anything else?" he asked, typing in the price while looking at her curiously.

Jeffrey began to tap the tip of her nose, rather forgetting that it was the chin people tapped when in thought. She knew it was either the nose, forehead, or chin, and so each time she had a thought she tapped a different place. She was oddly resembling a monkey for the first five minutes of her thinking and tapping process.
"Weeeeellllllllllllllll...." She started. She opened her mouth as if to speak, but then shut it, deciding against the black mushroom with black creamy-oozy stuff on top. She was confused as to why the thing was called a donut when it clearly was not even in the shape of a nut.. It was a dough-wheel as far as she was concerned.
"Mmm...no, no that'll be all..." She said, remembering that whenever business transactions were given it was...what was it...'polite?' to smile. And so, she made as big and wide a smile as she could, showing off both rows of her teeth. She hoped it was enough of a smile.

Eli stared at her a moment, a sweatdrop forming at the rather wide smile she gave him.
"Uh...al...right..." he replied, totaling the cost on the registar.
"That'll be $1.85." he said, glancing back at her, waiting for payment.

Jeffrey looked puzzled. She didn't know what $1.85 was, really...so she took out her stolen walet and rummaged through it. She gave him a 5 dollar bill, followed by 8 ones, and a ten. Smiling happily she offered him the cash.

Eli stared at her in even more confusion, glancing from the pile of cash sitting on the counter, to her and then back.
"Uhm...it's only $1.85.... not all this..." he said shakily, pulling out two one dollar bills from the pile. He gestured at the pile.
"You can...uh... keep the rest. Unless it's a tip?" he asked, knowing most of his customers to leave tips on tables after enjoying there delights. He opened the cash register and placed the bills in, sorting through and handing her the correct change.
"Enjoy."
