Advent Children: Alright, let's get some explaining done. This movie is a spin off of FFVII, correct in a way there are some errors about it. Like the bright red, a color they refused to use for one reason or another. Example: Vincent's eyes and the Summon Materia.

Now with that out of the way here's what I thought about the three 'Clones'.

They were spirits of Sephiroth, actually, segments of himself. Kadaj was the insanity and sanity of Sephiroth if you look at it. From the innocence of a child, to the deathly personality of a killer in just a spilt second. Like during the before fight scene where he goes on about Cloud being their brother and then changes, calling him a traitor.

This to me symbolizes Sephiroth. Sephiroth was never naiive, well he was in a way if you look at it. Sephiroth was naive about the good things in life, where as Kadaj is happy, except longing for somethign that Sephiroth craved all of his life: A mother's love.

Sephiroth desired someone to love him and that was for his mother when he learned about Jenova. Learning about what he was and how he was made and for what purpose sent him over the edge.

Yazoo is Sephiroth's mind, in a basic sense it's the observance, the sharp eye of him, the part that keeps everything in vission, but he's also the part that has the shortest temper, if you watch that. It's Sephiroth's temper in there also.

Yazoo is also his looks, partially, that was split betweene Yazoo and Kadaj for the sexy part, the thickness and muscels is Loz.

Loz is Sephiroth's emotions, he has them believe it or not and he's also the strenght. These three are in a way to 'make' Sephiroth if you could combined them.

But listen to Vincent again, he said recreate Sephiroth, he never said how, right? But he did say later that Kadaj was a larva, that combined with Jenova would make him into Sephiroth.

But couldn't another way be using all three of them to make the complete Sephiroth? I didn't see the complete Sephiroth there in AC, no way. Sephiroth was missing part of himself (Loz and Yazoo of course) but because of that it was sooo much easier to defeat him, because then his 'true' power over Cloud was his words to manipulate his mind.

Now, when Sephy leaves he takes the LAST AND FINAL part of Jenova (that we know of, please no more!) and Kadaj is left as a happy mother-wanting self. He's missing that evil side to him, look in ze eyes! And that's why he mistakes Aeris for his mommy, which is cute anyways.

But... That's what everyone sees Aeris as, even Kadaj and probably Loz and Yazoo too, later on.

So basically the three are Sephiroth, just three sections of him.

Now Aeris, MAYTR! I don't care what you say she is and AC was her making it out to be as if she wasn't.

It's cause she pays so much attention to Vinny.
I suppose that's true, but it isn't a spin-off. It is an actual story that takes place two years after Meteor that the producers of Final Fantasy created. Vince's eyes were the right color, thnx very much. And I didn't see any actually red materia in the case, only shades of blue and purple and yellow. you can correct me if you like, but I could care less. Maybe the change of color wasn't exactly accidental. maybe the red color made the scene look odd, or messed up the graphics, or didn't look as cool. But I liked it, and didn't nitpick at it.

I liked the use of the battle music for the fights. Like the regular battle music for the Tifa vrs. Loz battle, Jenova battle music for Kadaju vrs. Cloud, and a revamped OWA for Sephy. 3nodding i luff it. I'm kinda sad that Cid quit smoking, though. was I the only one to notice?

I don't know, he may have just not brought them.

I doubt he fully quit smoking, it probably had something to do with advertisement of bad things or something like that and Vincent's eyes are NOT the right color. It's just... off... And the materia, the summon materia was not red, I WAS disappointed. VERY.

What happened to ze materia?

But I also noticed that about the SHM... They were a lot more mommy obsessed than Sephiroth ever was, or was it just me imagining it?

Oh, Vincent became more open. I guess two years gives you that but we also see that he's close with marlene. She trusts him enough to go up to a scary man like him and cling to him like kiddos do. Now, don't be surprised if she starts calling him 'Uncle Vinny' eventually. I can see them having a relationship in some sort of way, and ew you people get away from that part. I meant like him being her fave uncle or something.

Barret would be so jealous that his precious Marlene is--eh dunno.

I forgot what I was going to say.

And we see that Cloud ACTUALLY HAS A BRAIN in this, even Sephiroth realizes that Cloud has a brain after all. I think it was the emonism almong with not being so much of being Zack back in FFVII as he was and now he's Cloud himself.

FFVII:AC is not just a spin-off. It isn't a spin off. It is a story about what happens two years later to both please the fangirls and to get a little deeper behind how Sephiroth and Jenova work and about Aeris/Zack/Cloud's relationship and how their grief passes.

Along with Square saying '***** IT'S CLOTI NOT CLOAER!'...

I'm serious.

Yeah, but still... a cigarette dangling out of his mouth and a pack of cigs in his flight goggles is somewhat of a trademark for Cid. And Vince's eyes are red, right? you're talking about the forest of ancients scene, too, right? The off-ness was the reflection of those awesome glowey-trees.
And about the materia... maybe the color change had something to do with a fragment of Jenova using it?

maybe they just did it to annoy the fanpersons, its scary how much barret sounds like Mr. T

in english, yeah. i'm kinda dissapointed about the subbing, though. A friend downloaded a bootlegged version ((because we didn't get the movie here, and it was taking so long)) and in it, barret said "You're late, b*tch!" instead of "Took your D4mn time!" during the BahamutSIN fight. We agreed that the bootlegged one was better, and we didn't like the "Dilly-dally, shilly-shally" translation, either.

I watched it in English, I like to understand it without reading subtitles. The only voice that bugged me was Cait Sith's.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 04, 2006 3:12 am

Yes! Cait Sith was horrible! They might as well've not had him if we can't understand a thing he's saying! My friend said they made him irish, so i was thinking an irish accent, not irish. *sigh*

And the voice acting wasn't that bad.

With the way some of his lines were written in the game I was expecting more of a southern accent...

And I though Sephiroth KILLED Tseng in the Temple of the Ancients... how did he survive? He had to have survived since he was in the movie....
PostPosted: Tue Sep 05, 2006 12:07 pm

i didn't even bother with the English version, i didn't wanted to be dissapointed
i thought it was dumb that they had Cait Sith ride on Red

Yeah, that's right. Or he died when the Temple blew up. I tried talking about the discrepancy with my friend, but she refuses to catch a chocobo to get past the Midgar Zolom, so she's of no help. ._."

They should have made him southern. his few lines would have sounded better. 3nodding
