I HATE STEREOTYPES. EMO, GOTH, PUNK, SCENE, WHATEVER. THEY'RE STEREOTYPES. THEY ARE JUDGMENTAL PICTURES PEOPLE CREATE TO FEEL BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES.
SHOOT ME I HAVE AN OPINION.

Yes I agree. Although this topic should be in the 'Off Topic' forum. Unfortunatly I curently don't have the power to move topics so I guess we'll just have to wait for a mod to do that. But anyway. I totally agree. I hate stereotypes. Every one will call me emo and once I yell at them they'll be like "Fine your goth" I just want to shoot them between the eyes. I am not Emo or goth I am just me. And thats all I ever want to be. xp

I get called emo. o_o And I consider myself a happy person. Which gets annoying. You don't need to use caps lock, though.

You see, no one is going to shoot you for having your opinion i think it's a very good opinion at once i even agreed with it but now, since i've started high school, i've found myself using four stereotypes: ghetto, misfit, normals and prep. Just because that's the way life is and wether people like it or not there will always be stereotypes and people do dress a certain way, think a certain way, and act a certain way to get a specific lable on themselves. It's nothing we can stop.
I believe that the many labels that go as in depth as in Emo, that's just stupid. Just classify them under Misfit. We don't need that many labels to get a point across.

people put themselves into categories because they want to fit in...or perhaps want to be radically different from the "in fashion" look that they form a completely "unfashionabe" trend..but in doing so, they fit in with a trend anyway. I say, people..just be yourselves. wear what you want to wear. listen to what music you want to listen to, and don't give a cow about what everyone else thinks. 3nodding

yes, i agree. i usually only use one lable, and thats prep, but i only use it as an insult towards people i dont like. people call me emo all the time though. even my own family. =( just because i wear a lot of jelly braclets, black, and listen to rock music doesnt make me emo. i mean geez, im one of the hyperest people you'll ever meet if you give me cady. stupid labels. IM NOT A CAN OF SOUP! are you?
im done....

Some people bring it on themselves. If you dress the way the "emo kids" or the "goth kids" dress, then you're probably gonig to be put into that category. And, yes, it was your decision to dress the way you do. If you really, really don't want to be called emo or goth or punk or whatever, stop dressing like it.
Just my opinion.

People that are not into the emo scene but have heard of it will say that ur a emo if u look like 1. We cant expect everyone to see the difference between you and emo's. Besides, if u look like a emo you already fit the scene for 75% imo
*Note i say emo here, but its also true if i said punk goth hippi or whatever

if you don't have labels or steretypes, then you wouldn't be able to think.
the problem is when the stereotypes take a turn and become prejudices and then discrimination.
but once again... if it wasn't for labels... you'd be going crazy right about now. ninja

I get called 'Emo' and 'Goth' all the time.
I think it's the hair. It's different from anyone else's hair at my school.
