Right. Just as the title says, what's your favorite way to train for fencing? I fenced a little epee the other night and realized how out of shape I am lol^^;; Bouts are longer than sabre and I am sore. sweatdrop I don't do much outside of fencing other than run a little and occasionally lift some weights^^;; Any suggestions?

When I actually get to it... sweatdrop
Running roughly a mile a day, jumprope 15 minutes a day, and alternating weights/yoga ball. ^.^
That is... if I ever start that stuff again...

Jump rope? I hadn't though of that one^^ That would be good though, wouldn't it? I'll have to dig one out. Yeah, I'm pretty lazy sometimes.. Well, most of the time^^;; At least when school's in session I have to carry a 15 lb backpack and walk everyday blaugh I sleep most of summer and it doesn't make my coach happy lol^.~

Yea.. I just get lazy over summer... Jumproping is REALLY good for fencing. It really strengthens your legs... and if you are like me and you jump alot it really helps to make sure you don't blow out your legs on landing...

Interesting. I start jumping around more when I get tired^^;; It's my body screaming 'Hey stupid! Try something else!' lol I really need to get my endurance up. Running would be good for that, right?

Running is very good for that, as is jumproping. Or just fencing really long matches with people. whee
Agility training with a ladder is really interesting now that I think of it... American Footballers do agility training with ladders.

I don't watch much either. It is hard to explain... basically you run across putting both feet into each space one at a time, then you do that sideways, then you do this weird criss cross thing, then you hop criss cross. You do each of those sequences a couple of times in a row. At first you feel like a retarted fish flopping around in a puddle of water but you get used to it and start to get really fast. whee
I don't watch any football. ninja

Ah ha. I think I know what you're talking about. Interesting. My football playing friend would probably be a good fencer then^.~ If he could avoid breaking my collarbone with the sabre.. O.o;; I could see that happaneing lol. It'd be my luck, ne? ^^;;

To keep up my condition I do....absolutely nothing sweatdrop Terrible I know but most of the time I have enough energy. I do try to make my arm-muscles as strong as possible because when I train sabre my arms get so tired. gonk

It isn't my favourite. But I do it. I usually run for an hour every two days and on the days I don't run I try and practice footwork or cutting. Or things I need to improve on. Like stupid flunge. sweatdrop

I hate that Sabeurists have to flunge. It is sooo bad for our knees. Running attacks are more effective and much less dangerous to the body. It doesn't make much sence, especially since crossing over is the most natural in Sabre. Just because the judges are blind... stare

Hmm. . .jumprope. . . I should try that - I have one around here somewhere.
When I train I do a 3 mile treadmill run/jog. I alternate my speed, usually its something like this: It takes about an hour
Jog 1/4 mile run 1/2 mile jog 1/4 mile
run 3/4 mile jog 1/4 mile
run 1/2 mile jog 1/4 mile walk 1/4 mile
Also I liked to do an hour of yoga twice a week. It is really good for preventing strains and pulls. My work with weights is random and minimal. I've done speed drills on the ladder, its fun but tough.
Before I fence I really like to spend 15 min doing footwork and parry-reposte drills. . .when I can find someone willing to practice.
I've been "lazy" for about a month. Actually I've just been swamped with school work sweatdrop All that is about to get better though. My summer class ends today. Starting Monday it is back to the gym.
Hey Zealth, we're about to get massacred by Sabeebee tomorrow xp
