Aranor:
Prequel I - The Dragon Wars

Setting: The world of Aranor, 3 B.D.*. The Continent of Magic**.
A journal:
Quote:
The dragons continue to oppress Aranor.
Despite the many times that we have tried to cooperate with them, they simply will not. We had to begin destroying them. They now believe they have found their secret weapon, the greatest of them creating seven warriors of sin. But how could they know, we have our own… The Dragoons. Chosen from the few remaining pure humans, the Dragoons are to be keen dragon-slayers, capable of learning and using Neshoban magic, each of a different color. It is unknown as of yet whether or not a Silver Dragoon is possible. Already the Blue Tail and Yellow Sun have selected and blessed theirs; I hear that the Shadow Fang have found theirs, but she is in need of reassurance; and the Red Claw are nearing theirs. No word yet from the White Grass or Black Earth…
It is truly a shame. So much crossbreeding, and now we are losing the true humans, among other races. Already there are barely any of the Fyylenish left, it is my own kind’s fault, I suppose…
Ichoneiji has warned that driving away or destroying the dragons will have a dire consequence, but even he agrees this is necessary.
As to the Elves, they won’t be able to take much more fire from the red dragons, and something must be done soon, before it’s too late… I’m not sure what we can do, perhaps our only choice is to bring them north beside the dwarves’ new mountains.

*-B.D.:Before Departure; refers to the departure of dragons from the Continent of Magic.
**-The Continent of Magic:Continent made of two parts, with various types of demi-humans in existence.

-OOC Setting:
Okay, so you’re probably wondering several things from this. Well, this RP takes place about 20,000 years before the time of the Aranor story [the one that’s being worked on in the showcase forum]. There are several types of demihumans, including the Neshoba [wolf people], Fylenis [cat people; nearly extinct], elves, dwarves, eagle-people, merpeople, etc. [more added if more are come up with]. The pure humans are at this point an endangered species. So also, you’re probably wondering whose journal the above is. Well, it belongs to Rithara [bright shining star], the Silver Clan Neshobe of the time, born from Blue Tail. The northern country in the story that takes place in the future is named after her.

Complete list of known races:
[Feel free to PM me about adding a new race]
1.Humans-normal humans. Similar to Earth's, they are mortal and capable of learning magic but only over a long period of time. There are two 'special' types which are derived from humans.
TABA.Dragoons-A separate group of humans capable of learning Neshoban magic. There are to be six in this RP, one who can learn the abilities of each clan. There is also a chance that a seventh, a Silver Dragoon, may appear eventually, but it's unlikely. They have unknown potential. They are mortal, but their ability to learn Neshoban magic passes on to their children.
TABB.Beings of Sin-The creatures created by an extremely powerful dragon from humans, to wreak havoc upon the humans and demi-humans. There are seven: Wrath, Envy, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Gluttony, Lust; and their name describes their character. Each is possesed of a power that also relates to that name. They are linked together psychically.

2.Elves-those capable of freely using magic. Every elf is born with the ability to use a certain element of magic at will, and capable of learning much more than that. Immortal. Distinguishable by pointed ears, fair appearance.

3.Dwarves-Stalwart, sturdy warriors, miners, and forgers. Love all kinds of money and shining things. Distinguishable by very short, stout appearance and males being overly proud of their beards.

4.Eagle folk-Strong, proud people; hunters. Appear to be somewhat like humans with eagle-like wings large enough to enable flight and hollow bones. Males are rough but strong in human appearance, but have extremely beautiful wings; females have a fairer but still strong human appearance and generally ruffled and uncared-for wings. Distinguishable by wings, unusual strength, and generally tall appearance.

5.Neshoba-An immortal and highly magical people descended from wolves. Appear to be humans with unusual bone structure; wolf’s tail and ears. Eye and fur/hair color is always the same. All Neshoba are capable of a werewolf form at night and some of the day, which is involuntary on full moons. Those over the age of 666 posses two souls, the secondary subordinate to the primary but still a different person in itself. Neshoba use forms of magic that are impossible for Elves and non-Dragoon humans.
Neshoba are divided into seven Clans that define their fur/eye color, magical ability, and general physical appearance:
TABA.Shadow Fang-This clan is believed to be the earliest of the clans to evolve from wolves. They have brown fur and eyes, and generally a very strong build. Magical ability is limited to one spell per, of Demonic nature. They are characteristically serious in most matters, and have an extremely tribal culture which bases its leaders on who can beat who in all-out combat. Their opposite is Yellow Moon.
TABB.Blue Tail-The closest clan to being human. Unlike any other Clan, they have omnivorous teeth and are neither stronger nor faster than average humans, in fact some are perhaps weaker. They have blue fur and eyes; they are either extremely kind or extremely intelligent, with very few being both or neither. Their culture is like a less greed-based version of human culture, and chooses leaders by general consent with few complaints. Every one of this clan is capable of two spells: one which heals and puts out fires, and another which allows him or her to 'see' exactly what is wrong with a certain point on another's body. They are also each capable of one separate water-related spell each. Their opposite is Red Claw.
TABC.White Grass-Also known as the trickster clan. They are all capable of changing form to any mammal, and making insiginifigant changes in their regular appearance, but their eyes and fur is always white, and they always have a tail. They are only capable of changes in appearance, however: one cannot make him or herself stronger or faster with only this ability. Other than that, each is capable of one plant-related spell. They have a somewhat tribal culture with leadership based on who can better fool a third party. Their opposite is Black Earth.
TABD.Yellow Moon-An extremely childish clan. Most everyone in it has trouble taking anything seriously, and generally is very hyper. They are agilely built, and have yellow fur and eyes. Their magic is one spell per person, related to light generation, refraction, and reflection. They have a near-tribal culture that bases leadership on seemingly childish games. Their opposite is Shadow Fang.
TABE.Red Claw-The fire clan. They are about average as strength and agility goes for Neshoba, but each one is capable of a slightly different form of fire magic, with which they are very good. They have red fur and eyes. They seem to be widely varied in character, but almost all of them act the same way once angered. Their culture is human-like but uses strength of magic to determine leadership. Their opposite is Blue Tail.
TABF.Black Earth-This clan has pitch black fur and eyes. They are, by definition, exceptionally strong although not terribly fast. Each is capable of a single fairly powerful earth spell. This clan is probably the only one that has a tendency toward greed; their culture is somewhere between tribal and human-like, using physical strength as a measure for who leads. Their opposite is White Grass.
TABG.The Silver Clan-The legendary clan. There is only one of them every ten millenia or so. The current one is Rithara. This clan can be born of any other clan, and then the person's fur and eyes slowly shift to silver until they are an adult. Unlike any other Neshobe, those of this clan generally seem to live only a few centuries and then simply dissappear; therefore it is believed by some that each Silver Clan member is a reincarnation of all the ones before him or her. They retain most of the physical and characteristic traits from the clan they are born of, but are capable of using the magic of any Neshobe that they know the name of. Each is also capable of one very powerful electric spell, although it drains them greatly.

6.Fyylenish-A race of, literally, cat-people. It is supposed that they are immortal, because nobody has ever seen one die of age. They are the only beings capable of magic that manipulates the mind, and that is the only magic they can do. Their natural form is that of a very large cat that stands on two legs, but they can change partially or fully to a much more human form although it still retains many traits of a cat. They are only capable of making the sounds that cats make, but can use their magic to make it seem as if one is 'hearing' his or her own language. They are a very mysterious race, and almost never seem to abuse their magic, almost as if they are afraid to. They are also considered highly endangered because they were hunted a long ago by Neshoba.

7.Satyrs-Race of goat-people. For the most part, they live in the mountains, and are a fairly cowardly lot. They hate/fear all kinds of cats and dogs, and righfully so, for they were hunted in the early years by both Fyylenish and Neshoba. A satyr looks to have somewhat of the shape and upper half of a human but with horns and generally curling hair. The lower half has goat-like fur on it and is shaped somewhat differently, with hooves as feet, which means that their forms of walking and running are what one would call 'unusual'. Being cowardly as they are, the Satyrs have managed to hide from both sides of the Dragon War, as well as most other wars, but a courageous, stupid, or just plain crazy few may have left their safe, secure homes to seek 'adventure...'

Aranoran Magic
Yes, "Aranoran" means "Native to Aranor".

ah, anyway...
The non-Neshoban magic of Aranor is divided into several elements, all but a few of which have a light and a dark side. The description of a magic as being "Light" or "Dark" has nothing to do with if it makes the user of the magic good, or how the magic looks, but rather what it does. "Light" magic is anything that does not directly harm the target but rather helps it, such as healing or directly shielding it. "Dark" magic is anything which directly harms the target in any shape, form or fashion. Some forms of magic require both dark and light, such as a magic-created shield that also harms the attacker. Elves are born with the ability to use one element of light or dark variety, and are usually able to learn other types of magic fairly easily [with some exceptions] Anyway, without further ado, here is a description of the known elements [more may be added upon request]:
1.Sound-Sound magic specifies on the creation, modification, and protection from sound waves. They can be manipulated to create various temporary 'objects,' and for that reason Sound magic is extremely versatile.
2.Fire-Fire magic is the creation and control of fire and the ability to generate some heat.
3.Water-Water magic is able to move water around freely and make it into a colder state--such as making vapor into droplets or liquid into ice-- but is incapable of reheating it. Water magic is also very capable of healing, since most if not all of the life-forms on Aranor are mostly composed of water.
4.Elelectricity-Electric magic is able to use electric currents which are present, including those inside every living thing's body, amplify them, and manipulate their general direction to the user's demand. It is extremely difficult to control electricity very effectively, and usually takes centuries of practice to master even for those born with it.
5.Ground-Ground magic, of course, focuses on moving around the earth and using it to one's will. It is an extremely physical magic, and usually those who have mastered it are fairly strong.
6.Plant-Plant magic, also referred to as nature magic, is the ability to cause plants to grow, wither, and appear at one's command. It is impossible to directly heal someone using plant magic, but it may be possible to grow a plant with the natural ability to heal them.

Exceptional Elements:
Some Elements are not quite the same as others, and so are listed here.
1.Psychic-Psychic magic is the mainpulation of anyone's mind. It does not have distinct light and dark, as the mind is a chaotic system and the exact effects of an action to it cannot be determined. Psychic can only be used by the Fylenis, and is the only magic they are capable of.
2.Polymorph-There are only two beings capable of Polymorph magic, and its light and dark are treated differently. The two beings are actually elven twin brothers who are said to have been born sometime near the dawn of Aranor, and their exact ages are unknown even to them. In fact, by this point in the story, each has completely forgotten that the other existed. The 'Light' side of the two, better known as the Doppleganger and without a real name, is capable of changing into any being he has seen, gaining all of the abilities of that being-including magic and anything physical, counting the brain as a physichal existence but retaining his general mindset. The 'Dark' brother is capable of changing anything living that he looks at into anything living that he imagines. This ability works similarly to the Light's version, but sometimes exceptions will occur; for example, if he were to use his ability on a human to turn them directly into a wolf, the wolf would still have the thinking capacity and general lifespan of a human. Cross-race changes made by the Dark brother, such as from human to elf, change everything including lifespan but still somehow cause the one who is changed's children to be partially their original race, such as that human-made-elf would still have a half-human child.

Character Application
Okay, to begin with, note that this application will be seen by me, the RP owner, and you, the character owner only. Rather than posting a long list of character sheets, here's what I'm going to do instead. I'll just list everyone's character(s) under their name with some general information, but none of the information (not even their actual name) will be filled out until the character is roleplayed as having revealed this or charactarized as this in some way. Basically, the idea is to reveal and develop your character while playing the role rather than everyone having to look up at a character sheet whenever they want to know something about the character. However, that isn't your liscense to be inconsistent with what a character will and won't do; I'll still have the character sheets to check. You are allowed to request changes to your character sheet, however.
Okay, next, you are allowed to have up to 9 characters total: you may have ONE main character, and up to six supporting characters. You're allowed to use all seven characters freely, but you always have the main character as your focus unless they die, in which case you may get a new main character. You're also allowed to have two "distant" characters, people who are fairly important to the overall events, but are nowhere near the characters in the RP (at least, not at first). My distant character, for example, is to be Rithara. Okay, that done, on to the application forms (most applications will be accepted)

Race and sub-race application forms (just replace the words and pharenthases with what they obviously denote, leave the # sign):
#.(Race name)-(race description)

If there are sub-races within the race or you're making a subrace, for every subrace use this form.(replace the word letter with where it would fit underneath, such as A then B then C)
(Also note that the Neshoba are not allowed to have any more subraces.)
TAB(letter).(Subrace name)-(subrace description

Character application form(Delete everything in ()s):
Name:
Race:(If it's not listed add a race/subrace app. form too)
Age:
Gender:
Appearance:
Personality:(doesn't have to be anything terribly specific, just a general idea of how they'll act)
History:

((Funny thing is, I can't think of anything that's missing now... so I'll work on the first IC post and open the RP!
After these two filler OOC posts just in case I forgot stuff...))

Llarukne and Mazelra had been traveling together for a few weeks now. He would be tired of her irritable attitude, if he wasn't enjoying annoying her so much. Anyway, they were supposed to be looking for a particular red dragon, and were supposed to deal with it somehow or other. The orders hadn't been terribly clear. They were supposed to meet up with a contact first, but by now even the ever-hopeful Yellow was starting to think the contact either a spy or dead.
They were near the top of a small, stony hill. There seemed to be a lot of those. Far too many in Mazelra's opinion.
Mazelra was a cross between Shadow Fang and Red Claw. Her defect was constant irritability and having only one, difficult-to-use spell. She had a fur and eye color that appeared to be either a very dark red or a somewhat reddish brown, both of which were generally correct. She growled.

"I love a good climb," the Yellow said, pretending not to have heard.
