Eight in the evening, and though Kyle was feeling the steady pressure of a too long day weighing him down and making his limp more obvious than usual, he made himself smile. Lost Here had been busy lately, especially with a round of new hires to train, and he'd promised Isabel that tonight would be special to make up for his irregular schedule.

He'd found the perfect way to make it so. Virtual World, a new arcade, had opened up not far from the house. Something told him that his little girl, so like him, would be drawn to such a place. A child born of fishnet and glitter, tonight her clothing showed her origins. Her pants were as baggy as his, but where his were black, hers were made of neon green plastic. Her fishnet shirt was under a shirt of clashing neon orange, though the material of the short sleeved garment was of a soft cotton, and not quite so bright.

Above her eye, her silver eyebrow piercing reflected the brightly flashing lights, making it all colours, depending on where she looked.

"Well, what do you wanna do first?" He asked, looking down at the girl that held casually to his hand.

Her bright eyes scanned everywhere. The ticket games with their flashing allure, the fighting games where teenage boys waited in impatient lines. Shooting games clustered in another area, with racing games nearby. There was more to the arcade of course, but he couldn't see it from his angle.

"What do you wanna do?" She echoed, still staring around in facination, "I don't know what anything does!"

Ronnie could be glad that Rias had agreed to take Dierdre for the night. Lord knew she could not take another night of her two fae sniping at each other. And this was the first chance she'd had to really go out and bond with Gage.

He was so much sweeter than Dierdre, and well mannered to boot. Handsom, is what she thought, with his golden eyes and silver skin. He dressed in casual fit black jeans and a dark gray button down shirt. On the way over they'd stopped by a jewelry store, Gage had been deeply enamored with a darkened silver torque, Ronnie couldn't help but buy it for him.

It was so adorable the way he wore it with such pride, it didn't seem girly at all. And the best part was, he didn't mind that she chose to wear torn jeans with the bottoms all frayed, or a plain tank top. That was a miracle in itself.

The reason they'd found their way to Virtual World was because Gage had discovered guns a la duck hunt for the NES. For a terrifying moment, he'd demanded that he get a real one of his own. Luckily, Ronnie'd been able to pacify this need with a trip to the arcade. She'd assured him that there were many gun games there, he seemed alright with it.

The bright lights and jangling sounds boomed out of the building, and Ronnie grabbed Gage's hand as they entered, she didn't want to lose him yet.

It was... so bright, and loud. Not bad, but much different from Veronica's little apartment. It took a moment for Gage to take it all in, but it didn't take long for him to zero in on the shooting games. Gently tugging on Veronica's hand he pointed in that direction. "I want to go over there, is that alright Veronica?"

"Zombie killing's always been my favorite." Kyle admitted, steering his daughter over toward the shooting games. Leading his daughter into the cluster of machines, he found himself smiling at old memories. He'd played the games long before he'd actually known how to hold a gun.

Long before he'd known what guns were capible of, beyond monster killing. And now he walked with a limp and too many memories too young.

Well, to hell with it. Isabel's life would be scar free. She could shoot things without ever making the connection.

Isabel continued to hold tightly onto Daddy's hand. While the lights excited her and filled her with energy, this was still unfamiliar territory. And Daddy had told her 'No one's safe unless they're family'. She liked crowds in the general sense, but she couldn't feel safe in them.

Still, she couldn't help but admire the people, as bright and various as the lights. Like that boy, with the pretty necklace.

Would Daddy mind? Not while he was so near.

Expertly hiding a hint of caution behind an easy smile, she moved closer to him. "That's pretty."

It took a moment for Gage to realize someone had addressed him. He wasn't used to this big of a crowd and was slightly dazzled by the amount of people near him.

Registering that it was a girl who spoke to him, he turned and took a moment to analyze her. There was an odd manor to her clothes, they were bright and loud and amazingly unique. He had a feeling that Dierdre would not approve. That made the new girl all the more likable.

"Thank you." His voice was a bit hard and deeper than a boy his age should have. "It was a present from my guardian." He gestured once to Veronica.

Ronnie turned and saw a blue skinned girl speaking with Gage. Something clicked in the back of her mind. "Oh my! You must be another 030 fae!" There was little mistaking that, and it delighted her.

In turn she turned to the man the girl was holding hands with. "You must be her guardian. I'm Ronnie Orcot, and this is Gage." There was a touch of hyper active to her voice and she beamed at both of them.

"It's cool. Are you gonna shoot zombies too?" Her attention was already starting to move. Not away from the boy, exactly. It was just hard to focus on only the boy when there was a whole room full of colour and people to explore. She shifted restlessly from foot to foot, unable to help it.

Daddy didn't have any rules about holding still, though Aunt Lithle did.

As his little girl didn't seem to have noticed the woman speaking to her, Kyle figured he might as well take care of the introductions.

"She's a fae alright. Her name's Isabel, and I'm Kyle." Considering offering her a hand to shake, he realized that 'bel wasn't about to let his hand free for the gesture, and shrugged a bit instead. "What's he from?"

A strange question, but it'd always been a curiousity of his. What might Isabel have turned out like if he hadn't made the half disbelieving offering of a shirt he'd worn out clubing?

Certainly different from the bright eyed, energetic girl he'd been given.

Also in the same predicament, Ronnie offered a nod back to Kyle. There was an understanding of exactly what he meant by his question. "Oh, I offered a Swiss GP90 cartridge, it was for... sentamental reasons I guess." And it made her feel like Gage was not only her child but her and Rias together, fore the bullet had been his.

"And what was your offering?" The man's young girl seemed so energetic and bright, she wondered if there was much coorilation between the fae and offerings.

"Yes, I think I'd like to play one of the zombie shooter games. Shall we play together?" Digging around in his pocket, he came away with a handful of quarters that Veronica had given to him. Offering her some he gestured at a machine that read "Area 51".

He tugged again at his guardian's hand, "Can I play now? Please?"

"Of course you can sweetie, but stay in sight alright? I want to be able to see you. And be careful to keep your quarters in your pocket when you're playing." Ronnie said as she regretfully let go of his hand.

"Yeah, cool. Daddy doesn't much let me touch real guns. He says Aunt Lithle'll teach me when I'm older." At that admission, she paused, looking up at her Daddy. He was talking to the lady with the boy, and seemed pretty distracted, but a quick tug on his hand got his attention, "Can I play?"

He hesitated a moment, she felt it, and remembered the rule. Maybe it'd been wrong of her to ask. But then his grip loosened on hers, and he reached up to mess up her hair.

"Go ahead, 'bel." Even as Kyle released his daughter he moved to follow her, positioning himself so that he could reach her easily, while still keeping an eye on the ebb and flow of the crowd.

"A fishnet shirt that I'd worn out dancing. It was covered in blue glitter." Though he spoke to Veronica, his attention was on his daughter, and the proud note in his voice was unmistakable. "I wasn't much expecting it to work, y'know?"

Hello, violence games. Was it really so hard to believe that a pretty young woman like her could pulverize the high-scores on Evil Dead? Really, she'd been playing this game for about half an hour now, hence the line. Now she was running out of quarters at least. And if the chord could reach that far, she would pistol-whip the strange male hassling her. For now, she only settled for a sweet smile that was really more of a death sentence.

Talis was at home, she hoped. Her brothers were both lurking somewhere, but she could lose them later if she really wanted. The teen had donned herself in a pleated black, red, and grey skirt for the evening that flowed just below her mid-thigh. A rather tight leather-like, scarlet shirt that matched her hair and eye adorned her upper body, lined with black straps sewn into the fabric along with various buckles that held it even tighter to her. The shirt had no sleeves, showing off her delicately-muscled green arms. No wonder she was being hassled. Not that she didn't secretly like it; she knew what she was doing. A few black clips displaying tiny, jeweled skulls were holding her hair in place. To top it off, a pair of rather heavy-looking black boots that were nearly knee-high enveloped her lower leg, lined with buckles and all sorts of safety-pins. They were her favorite shoes- until the week was up. She gave one of these an indignant stomp as she died for the final time that round, pouting. That was when something caught the corner of her eye.

Two, no, three fae. One she recognized. Hmm... With three more shots, Noelle signed her 'initials' at first place on the game- 030. With an easy sway, she drifted a little closer, studying the 'parents' of the aforementioned trio. Well, time to add a little age to the mix, right? Though she didn't really look like she could play a sweet little girl in this atire. Hmph. If the parents attacked her, they weren't worth her time. They should feel honored to be graced by her presence!

"Well, what do we have here?" She asked in a soft purr as she rounded on the children slowly, smiling. "Three child fae in the same public place? What a treat. What game are we playing?" She stared towards the Area 51 game, but really kept out an alert for any signs of parental motion.

The door to the arcade barely opened when he made his entrance. He definitely wasn't supposed to be here and he knew it, but he'd had his eye on this place for a while. Of course, he had never asked Sibuna about the arcade- bright lights and loud music was just begging her to have a seizure out of worry. Probably just as strangely-dressed as the rest of them, the stapler fae slid in unobtrusively in a flicker of black and white.

Daemyn walked along the various games, oblivious to the stares he did or did not receive. He was dressed in a pair of baggy, white pants and some robe-like top, tied snugly to his waist by a green belt. A karate outfit, to put it bluntly, and it was just where he'd come from. During the water brake in class, he had disappeared out the front door and hauled a** down the street. They wouldn't miss him- not after he'd been out and about so many times before. If he got back before lessons were over, they wouldn't say anything to his guardian. After all, they were still getting their money whether he skipped out or not.

He was severely considering Ms. PacMan when a female voice caused one of his long, black ears to twitch. Child fae? Just like him? Deep onyx orbs guided themselves to the gathering group, widening just a bit. Wow. There were a lot of fae. Daemyn petted the stapler tied into the folds of his robe once before sliding closer. Unlike Noelle, he would make no sound, and neither would his bare black feet while such loud music was pumping. He was just sort of there now, listening in as if he didn't know it could be considered rude. He'd be noticed or he wouldn't. It didn't really matter to him either way... did it? Now that he thought about it, he wasn't sure.

Gage was eager to start, this was really the first time he'd been able to interact with someone besides Veronica, Rias, or Dierdre. Smiling, just slightly, he handed Isabel some quarters. "Veronica said that when I'm older she'd let me have a gun. She said that it was in my genes to be a marksman." This was something he was a little proud of, and it showed in his voice.

Yet, before he'd had the chance to insert the quarters in the slot, he noticed a taller and older girl approaching them. There was no doubt, she stood out in the crowd, from her unique coloring to her choice of clothing. Gage politely nodded to her, "Hello, we were just about to start this game." He gestured to the Area 51 console. "And you are?" Normally it would've sounded rude, but Gage had a way of making every comment sound polite if not a little bored. Not to say he was bored, but that was just how his manner of speech worked.

"An interesting choice!" Ronnie exclaimed rather excitedly. It showed too, on the little girl, but she rather thought if fit the girl to a T. "I know what you mean though. With my first fae, I just picked whatever came to mind at the time. I'm wondering how that will affect the way she grows. Perhaps there wasn't really a choice from us at all; that is if you believe in fate and all that." Which was not something Ronnie normally took stock in, but the thought had just wondered into her head.

Instinctively, her back straightened in defense as the red haired beauty approached the children. There was something predatory about her it seemed. Ronnie mentally told herself to keep an eye on her... there may be trouble here.

"We're shooting zombies." Isabel replied, fingering the quarters impatiently as she looked up at the older girl. She had the money, she had the game, now she just wanted to play. But now she couldn't because the green girl was standing right there, and that meant she couldn't turn around. That was Michael 'If a stranger's looking at you, you make them know you're looking at them, and you're not afraid.'. So she looked, straight up into the other girl's face, her own expression one of seeming calm.

Still, it was clear from the way the blue girl shifted her weight that she'd clearly rather be doing something other than making conversation. So much to do and they were just... talking!

From his position, it was easy to see the teenage fae's approach. He allowed himself a moment to take a girl in, outfit, expression and stance, before making any movements. In the end, the only move he made was the shift in his expression to a lazy smirk.

A puppy, the sort that showed up at Lost every night. And maybe someday she'd be a big bad wolf, and maybe she'd run with the dogs. But at the moment, she was no more dangerous than a sheep. She just thought she was.

"You've got two fae kids, then?" he asked, turning his attention quickly back to Ronnie. "I guess I wonder, too. I mean, if the gift calls the fae or whatever, it's gotta say something. What kinda life must she have had before, that she was drawn to my fishnets, right?"

Still watching the crowd, so he noticed as yet another 030 child approached. What was this, a convention?

"Well, go say hi, Kid!" He instructed the quiet new arrival. "They'll let you play with 'em. I know 'bel will."

"No, really?" She asked Isabel, shifting her head upwards almost haughtily. She didn't quite like the way the girl's tone had turned out to sound to her. However, she didn't let her facial expression betray such an annoyance, merely smirking. She calmed, though, upon seeing the girl's calm expression.

"I'm Noelle," She informed them all, casually spinning to lean slightly against the machine, as if knowing Isabel's circumstances. "Who are you?" Nails casually rapped themselves against the material before her expression changed completely. A warm tone drifted through her lips now, nothing less than a cool, sisterly expression on her features. "Go on, sweetie. Others are waiting."

On the contrary, Noelle was more dangerous ever since she had become a teen. And her control upon the power was only tightening with her determination. She strutted and flaunted, but when she got pissed, she was exceptionally dangerous- it was the same for almost everyone. So unless Kyle or Ronnie or someone in the five-mile radius had the power to halt an earthquake... Luckily, she had matured, even if it was by just a little. She wouldn't explode unless she was backed into a corner. So a sheep she might seem, but she was a sheep with grenades strapped to her legs and a rocket-launcher. Whoever was 'awarded' her as a tutor would be quick to learn it.

A finger was crooked at the new boy invitingly. Come hither.

Daemyn's gaze went to Kyle, and a polite smile positioned itself on his face as he was quick to give a stiff bow at the waist. He couldn't help it- he was in uniform! "Thank you, sir. I... I didn't want to interrupt anything important." He was more of an observer than a talker, though he could do both well enough. As well as any human his 'age' and better, but probably standard for a 030 project.

The finger was crooked at him, and he seemed to lower his head humbly. Of course, he really wasn't afraid of them at all, but it never hurt to be nice to strangers. That was what his guardian had said about strangers. Giving a small, parting nod to Kyle and Vorcot, he shuffled even closer.

"Um...hi. I'm Daemyn." He told anyone who cared to listen. "And I've... never played one of these 'games' before. Pleasure to meet you all." He eyed the quarters quietly in the hands of others. He had no money. Whoops.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 11, 2006 7:40 pm

Gage was itching to play the game. He'd been enthralled with video games since Rias had shown him Duck Hunt. Still, manners had to be observed. Even if his brain was turning to mush at the constant flow of new people.

As Daemyn came forward, Gage gave him a once over followed by a polite bow. "My name is Gage." He said to both Noelle and Daemyn, "It's very nice to meet both of you."

But now he wanted to play this game, and since it didn't seem to bother the older fae, he turned to Isabel. "Shall we? We wouldn't want to hold up the line any longer." Like a pro, he removed the gun from it's plastic holster on the machine and practiced his aim a time or two. The weight was light like the gun for the Nintendo, but he knew that a real gun was much heavier. Rias had, briefly, shown him his own collection.

"This is a game where you are taken around a warehouse and other enviroments and you shoot monsters and aliens." As he dropped his quarters into the machine, he continued his explination, "You're soldiers or something of the sort and it's your job to exterminate all the bad creatures while not shooting your allies. You can try after the line's over."

Gearing up for the game, he waited for Isabel to insert her quarters.

"Yeah, two of them, one's very haute couture, and the other... well..." Ronnie gestured to Gage, "he teaches video games to other fae." Chuckling a bit she beamed at her child with pride.

"I digress though, I wonder if we'll ever find out much about their past lives? One would wonder if they've always been this way, or if they've changed much? To be honest the entire project fascinates me on a scientifc level and scares me on a base human level."
