About Allani In all her gorgeous glory. Allani is loud and out-going, friendly and very, very flirty. She likes things to go her way and she likes the spotlight, and, true to her type, usually doesn't think things through before diving into them. She insists that she is a PRINCESSMERMAID and that poor Biwa is her PONY. She can hover, but flight is difficult for her. She prefers to latch onto people and hitch rides. She sometimes rides Biwa, but often gets bored of his quiet nature very quickly. One of her favorite perches is on Xennik's hat, or else cilnging to his leg. She is VERY possesive of Xennik, and won't let another female within three feet of him, and tends to get very clingy when he's around (probably because she's figured out that he's the one spoiling her. XD). tag About Biwa Biwa is a Kyuria, the quiet type, a dreamer, a little shy, He likes to curl up with Xennik while he reads or does paperwork. He tends to be a little forgetful at times and his quiet moods can sometimes be taken as depressed. Biwa is lost in life and a hopeless romantic. Almost the polar opposite of Allani, he is shy and thoughtful, prefering to speak in a quiet voice when he speaks at all. Silence is his comfort zone, so speaking -though possible- is rare for him. Xennik enjoys the kyuria's silent companionship and the kyuria and guardian share a love of discovery. tag

About Xennik Ahamni -Xennik Ahamni, Researcher of Magical Properties and Phenomena Age: 23 Looks: Xennik is Caucasian Hispanic, with pale skin, blue eyes, and black hair, which he brushes over one eye. He's average height, with a toned build. His clothes represent his job; a magician, fancy and detailed. His usual attire is made up of a fancy shirt (sometimes layered with a fancy vest or coat), and knee-length britches tucked into tall, high-heeled decorative boots. A knee-length cape hangs from his shoulders (more for decoration than any practical use). The outfit is topped off by a musketeer-styled hat with a ridiculously and obnoxiously over-sized feather flaunting from its brim. The color of the feather changes as his mood does (its a magically enchanted mood-feather!). He wears a choker with a ruby red jewel about his throat that acts as an amulet and protects him from most harmful magic (more often his own than anyone else's XD). He may also wear: Xennik also wears what is known as his "relaxation" outfit, which consists of slacks and a black muscle shirt, often layered with the fancy musketeer-styled shirt, unbuttoned. He also has nice dress shoes to replace the boots. When he's not wearing his hat, he sometimes tucks his feather into his belt (he never goes anywhere without it), allowing it to hang down the side of his leg, and always wears the ruby choker. He only wears this particluar outfit when he's at home alone relaxing, or some sort of emergency has come up, requiring him to be at the shop before he could change.
Personality: Xennik Ahamni was most likely hired by Imriel not only as a researcher and biologist, but also because he's so disarmingly good-looking that he manages to distract most angry mobs confused new Pala owners, whenever they come calling for information. Xennik is quite the heart-throb in appearance, but don't let that fool you. Though he has the best of intentions, and over-all is a really good guy, he's a bit klutzy and just a tad dense. If anything, he might be explained as a bit blond. He rarely uses his rather flashy magic, and if he ever does, it's usually to get him out of some sort of scrape that he accidentally got himself into. Apparently, he's quite brilliant when it comes to magical knowledge, but...well, it works a little like lightning, it comes in random flashes of intelligence and insight, and leaves just as quickly. He is incredibly gentle and patient with the Pala, almost to the point of letting them walk all over him. Luckily for him, most Pala enjoy his company as much he enjoys their's. He's likely to drop everything he's working on to chat with any Pala or other Kyendi creature that comes his way, and miraculously somehow manages to get along with every single personality type.
History: Xennik was born as Tay Ahamni, the third oldest of many siblings. During his childhood, he lived in a state of constant poverty. His mother was sick throughout most of his childhood, leaving his father and two older siblings to raise money to support the family, and Xennik and his younger sister to take care of the four little ones. While his older brothers found theivery as a way to survive, Xennik discovered a unique gift in his magical abilities that eventually got him noticed by a professor of magic. He got a job at a young age and used the money to pay for his mother's medication and his younger sibling's comforts. He was only allowed to attend school away from home after his mother was fully healed. Once his mother had revived, Xennik fled from his life the moment he was given a chance. Luckily for him, he received theat chance in the form of Professor Gable, who had discovered his rather powerful magical talents. He was invited by special permission to join a magic academy at which Mr. Gable taught. Xennik escaped a life of poverty by throwing himself whole-heartedly into studying, and turned out to be quite succesful. After graduating with honors from the Academy of Magicks and Science, he changed his name legally to Xennik, though he did keep his last name and his original first name as his middle. He was sent on an assignment to investigate ElderSpark, where he was promptly hired to help investigate and research the strange and quite constant magical phenomena that took place there.
Xennik enjoys living alone in a rather large condominium in one of the richer areas of Barton, and every now and again houses one of his family members, should they need a place to stay. He is completely through with college and works two jobs, a researcher for a company caleld Magic and Law and a researcher and occaisional shop-keeper cover-up (Imriel -called the Boss Lady by Xennik- tends to go missing whenever questions need answering) for ElderSpark. He sends a monthly allowance to his family and is currently paying for one of his older brother's educations.
His mood feather's colors and their meanings:

Black: tense, nervous, harrassed, over-worked Gray: Anxious, nervous, strained Amber: Nervous, mixed emotions, unsettled, cool Green: Average, not under great stress Blue-Green: Inner emotions charged, somewhat relaxed Blue: Relaxed, at ease, calm, lovable [This is it's usual color] Dark Blue: very happy. love, passion, romance White: frustrated, confused, bored Brown: Jitters, anticipation, restless thoughts Pink: Fear, uncertainty, unanswered questions Yellow: Imaginative, wondering thoughts, OK feeling Orange: stimulating ideas, daring wants Red: Excited, energized, adventurous, ready to go Purple: Sensual, clarity, purpose is known

Acquaintances UkiukiUkiuki was one of the first Pala Xennik befriended at the beginning of working with ElderSpark. She's a sweet Pala that is unfailingly optimistic in her outlook on life. Allani and Biwa have yet to meet her. Allani met Yaraif the kukun one day at the ElderSpark shop. Yaraif is the only creature alive that has so far found fault with Allani, and it troubles her immensely that someone could actually NOT like her. Tien the kunkun was met the same day as Yaraif, and Allani and Tien made fast friends.

.Opening Thoughts. There was something about it. Xennik couldn't place it, but the lamp was...strange. Different. Maybe it had been placed too close to the Pandora Potions. Xennik fretted like an expectant father. The lamp sat on his mantelpiece, whenever he wasn't carrying it around with him, glistening, silent, still. Of course it was. The egg atop it was infertile. It would be until the incense burned out. Xennik stood, watching the little lamp, wondering. He didn't think he wanted the incense to burn out. He felt guilty the moment the thought solidified into his mind. He waved his hand before him, as though swatting smoke away from his face, banishing the thought. Of course he wanted the Pala to hatch. He wasn't going to just let the egg sit there on his mantelpiece forever, was he? Of course not, no. But the way that he chewed his lip gave his thoughts away to himself. He was worried. He had always been worried about receiving his Pala. Imriel had informed him that he would receive one the moment an egg caught his eye, but he had avoided it. He didn't know why. Not really. But there was something about this certian egg, this certain lamp, that had caught his attention. He didn't know why, or what, but there was something.

.Enter Allani.Xennik was awakened by a pressure on his chest. Half-asleep, he brushed at the furry creature and mumbled a soft, "shoo." The thing didn't budge. "Nibbles, I'm trying to sleep." The man moaned. "Heke?" The thing asked. Reality smacked the man across the face and he sat up with a start, sending the creature perched on his chest tumbling into his lap. The magician fumbled in the dark, finally clicking a light on. He stared at the creature in his lap in awe. It was a Pala, the same blue of the gem in his lamp. But this one couldn't be newborn. It was fully grown. And it didn't look anything like any Pala he'd ever seen before. It was scaly, for one thing. Patches of blue, purple-tinted scales flashed in the lamplight, nestled into its blue and purple fur. And its tail...where their was supposed to be a feathered tail, there was instead a fin. It wasn't like a fish's. It was more like...a mermaid's. The Pala stared up at him with large, innocent eyes. "You're not a cat." Xennik mumbled, at a loss for what else to say. " !" The little thing giggled girlishly.
Xennik's brain was moving in slow-motion, too tired to translate gibbered kunkunese. "...right." His gaze moved toward his bedroom door, which stood open. He'd kept is Pala lamp on the mantelpiece over the fire place... "Where did you come from?" He asked the little thing.
It thought for a moment. It burbled something in quick kunkunese and pointed out the door.
"Okay." Xennik rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "Show me." He suggested.
The Pala looked thrilled at the idea of this game. It took to the air, it's flight intriguing. It's oddly deformed wings flapped only once or twice and then it hovered, its thick tail dangling below it, its hair nearly reaching the end of its tail. "Nerae!" It chirped.
Xennik pushed his blankets off and stood. The little creature nodded and floated backwards into the hall, beckoning him to follow.
The gem was gone from his lamp. Xennik looked from the Pala, who had landed on the mantelpiece, looking a little tired, to the lamp. So...this was his Pala? But...how? Had it gotten tired of waiting for him to burn the incense and just hatched on its own? How bizzarre.
"Do you know who I am?" He asked the Pala. The Pala cocked its head.
"Haaya?"
Owner. "You don't have an owner?" He asked.
"Heke? Demo San erhi haaya. Sek?"
Xennik's face took on an expression of puzzlement.

.Enter Biwa."Evinn, Allani, I'm back!" Xennik called as he stepped through the door of his condo, stamping the snow out of his boots as he did. Evinn, as usual, was sitting in the plush loveseat by the big window facing east, watching the snow fall with wide, wondrous eyes. How beautiful snow could be when you were protected from it's bitter bite. That's what he was thinking. Xennik knew, because he'd been there before. Evinn had been staying with Xennik for the past week, so Xennik could take him to the doctor for a deep gash on his leg that had become infected. Evinn's large brown eyes turned on Xennik with a happy sparkle, a quick welcome home, though Xennik had only been gone for about an hour. "Thank you for keeping an eye on them on such short notice." Xennik said as he paid the sitterbot that hovered in the air before him. The robot bleeped apprecatively at the tip he gave it and fluttered out the door. "So..." Xennik said once the bot had gone. "This is my home...and yours now too, at least for now. Evinn, I'd like you to meet Biwa. Biwa, this is my brother Evinn. And Allani -she's a Pala- is around here somewhere," Xennik turned to find Biwa standing awkwardly in the doorway, snowflakes from outdoors still caught in his fluffy white mane. Xennik had received the call earlier from the Boss Lady. The Kyuria males were in trouble. No one knew what had become of the females. He and many of the regular shop-goers had been called on short notice to take the poor things in. This one's name was Biwa. How the Boss Lady had managed to get even that out of him was unknown. Apparently Kyuria could talk, if they wanted to. This one didn't. "Oh, come in, don't be afraid." Xennik beckoned gently. "Oooh, wow! What is it, Tay?" Evinn chirped. " He is a Kyuria, and he's going to be staying with me for a while." Cautiously, Evinn ventured, "Can it... he...talk?" Wide eyes continued to examine the small creature, who seemed to be even more anxious under watch. "If he wants to, he will." Xennik explained. "Now...Biwa, I don't suppose you have a preference for bedding?"

.'Friendship'."PONY!" Was Allani's first reaction to Biwa. Xennik chuckled. Allani hovered up to Xennik's chest-level and clutched his arm, looking down at the Kyuria with curious fascination. "We keepin' 'im?" She asked Xennik, looking up at him with big blue eyes. "Well...not exactly." Xennik frowned, trying to epxlain in a way that all three of them would understand. Biwa was watching him from his bed of soft leaves. Xennik had enchanted the leaves to stay fresh, so Biwa would feel more at home. The Kyuria was content to spend all day in his new bed. "He's more like...a guest. For as long as he wants to stay." There. That sounded right. "Oh." Allani almost seemed disappointed. She released Xennik's arm and floated down to where Biwa lay, her head cocked. "Whusjernayme?" She asked, landing on the floor in front of him. Biwa hid his head in his paws. Allani looked insulted. "He's a little shy." Xennik reminded her. He'd warned her before he'd allowed her to see their new guest that he wasn't very talkative. Allani frowned and looked like she was about to kick the poor critter. Xennik quickly scooped her up before she could. "Now be nice," he murmurred under his breath to her. "But...he doesn't like me!" Allani bawled, tears springing into her large, vulnerable eyes. She cuddled into his throat as though her whole world was crashing down around her. Xennik cast an apologetic glance over at the Kyuria, who still hadn't said a word to anyone in the house, and carried the heart-broken Allani away from the kyuria's corner of the living room. "Allani, just because he's shy doesn't mean he doesn't like you." He sat in a loveseat in front of the fire, stroking the Pala's long, thick hair as he comforted her. "He's had it rough. Just let him get used to everything, and I'm sure he'll open up a bit, if he wants to." "So he'll like me soon?" She sniffled, eyes large. Xennik pursed his lips, not sure how to respond to this. "Well, if you're friendly to him, I'm sure he'll like you plenty. You just need to be nice to him." This wouldn't be too hard for Allani. The only thing keeping the Espearn Pala from being a saint was her own melodramatic nature and conceit. Otherwise, she was plenty friendly. Allani's eyes sparkled at her new mission. Be nice to Pony, and she could ride him.

.A Sparkle of Hope."A....ll....a..." Allani screwed up her little face in concentration. "Alla..." With a gasp of delight, she figured it out. "Allani!" She squealed triumphantly. "Well done, Lani!" Xennik praised her, eyes shining. "Now can you do it?" He handed her the pencil. She took it nervously, staring at the sheet of paper before her. Xennik sat on the floor of the livingroom, Allani in his lap. A clipboard lay on the floor before them, on which Xennik with his beautiful script had written the letters of Allani's name. Allani had copied them below, her hand-writing the scrawled squigglyness of a beginner. Then Xennik had written her whole name. The pencil was now in Allani's hand, and she was to write her name. She gave a giggle of delight, despite herself, when the pencil shrank in her hand from being a Xennik-sized pencil to a Lani-sized pencil. Biting her lip, she scootched off of Xennik's lap and sat on the floor (carefully crossing her legs, just like Xennik), holding the pencil like a weapon in her hand. She stuck her tongue out in concentration, leaning forward. "Careful. Don't hold it so hard." Xennik reminded her gently. Allani nodded, pushed the lead tip of the pencil against the paper, squeezed her eyes shut, looked away, and scrawled. When she opened her eyes to view the unidentifiable scribble, her heart nearly broke. Xennik was trying very hard not to laugh. "It's alright, Alla," He said soothingly, "you just need to look at the paper next time, okay?"
