im trying to learn how to knit, and the instructions i have now are confusing me.

gaaraslilprincess thank u sooooooo very much. i really need to learn because my brother is bugging me to make him some socks tell him that it will take you quite a while to learn to make the socks, and if he's bugging you to make something that requires 5 needles when you're having trouble grasping the concept of working with 2, then he's an airhead

Hahaha, i agree. And can't you make socks with a circular needle then five of the double pointed? I haven't actually made a pair of socks, i've just read the instructions. sweatdrop

Celestyal Hahaha, i agree. And can't you make socks with a circular needle then five of the double pointed? I haven't actually made a pair of socks, i've just read the instructions. sweatdrop you can, but it's MUCH harder

There's a really thorough sock tutorial right here. It's explicitly designed to help the new knitter make socks, with lots of pictures and explanations. You might also enjoy Knitting Help which has a lot of videos on how to do curtain techniques.

A lot of people swear by knitting help, which was already linked in a previous post. If you don't like that. You can try these videos from Hello Knitty. I personally can't learn well from a book. My best friend taught me to knit and my mother taught me to crochet when I was 7. So if that fails, try to find a class, either at your local craft or yarn store....or sometimes local Rec centers will have them.
