A Whooping chattering laugh could be heard drifting on the wind. A dusty black Hyena sat snickering to herself just inside the Elephant Graveyard. The voice in her head had said to enter such a place, but she was unsure about its inhabitance and was hoping one of them would come out to find her.
Her dusty eyes scanned the area, it was night time and the bones looked spooky to her. As if the entire herd had just fallen down and their ghosts remained. If she were to go in and further she would have to ask about the spirits that resided there, see if ghosts actually exist. Of course they do.. a drifting thought tumbled through her mind, it felt foreign and at the same time comforting.
"Really? I guess we'll see!" Lamyae barked a bit of laughter answering the voice within. She sometimes questioned if it was her conscious talking aloud or someone else.

Dark paws moved carefully amid the bones. Almost like a small moving skeleton, a female hyena pup poked around and climbed over piles of bones as she patroled the lands. In a place like this, she felt at home. Her sister was asleep somewhere, but Schatz was a creature that loved the dark. Deep blue eyes almost glowed as she passed geisers, and when she moved into a spot covered in ribb cages, she looked like one of them, moving... Alive...
With such stealth, she crept towards the edge of the territory. Just outside the boneyard, she spied another hyena. Or rather, she smelled it. A female... Her ears perking, the pup smiled. "Mafa would enjoy YOU staying..." Stepping delicately, she moved into the prime spot to spy upon the other, making sure not to be heard. After spending so much time amid the bones, it was easy enough to do. Plus, with the newcomer likely unused to the scents of the decay, dust, geisers, and bones, the pup's own scent was easily masked. She'd found that it held true with the lions when she observed them. Those that didn't know the scents of the land found themselves easily snuck up upon by the filthy beasts. Now, she employed similar technique. Maybe the bastards were good for SOMETHING...

Little Schatz's assumptions were correct Lamyae could not smell the black and white hyena, she was trying her best not to breath through ehr nose. the scent was overpowering and in it self reminded her of spirits. She'd spotted once a bright purple lioness in these bones and thought her to be a ghost, but she did not expect that lioness to be here today, it was a terrible day for a walk, and an even more so for being in the bones.
You're being watched... the voice whispered within her mind and burned as it tumbled through.
"Hello?" She whooped curiously and straightened her posture, looking more like her preaching self.

As a geiser went off, it highlighted the boney markings on the pup's back. Her eyes, usually dark and forboding, reflected the acidic glow. Circling around to corner the other hyena so that she had nowhere but in to go, Schatz watched her every move. "Greetings, fellow hyena... Where do you come from? What are you doing out here... In the dark... So... Alone..?"

A shiver ran down Lamyae's back she wasn't scared merely spooked by the smells, the night air, and of course the bones. Looking up she spotted the small hyena and gave a start, at first thinking the little thing to be a ghost.
"I am searching for other hyenas of course. I am Lamyae, a humble voice of god, and who are you?" she smiled, "Little one, why are you alone?"
The main purpose of her existance, according to herself, was to preach love and understanding, she was not threatening in the least and ahd the air of a preacher or priest about her. She made smooth motions and bowed to the young hyena. For being an alpha she was extremely submissive.

Scowling just a bit, the little female lifted her head up. "Call me little again and I'll rip your face off." Her ears flattening back, the black and white hyena pup gave the older a dark and forboding look. "I'm not alone, my pack is further in the Graveyard. And why're you lookin'? Come to join Mafa's ranks?" In her eyes, there was only one pack - Mafa's pack. No other pack would do, none was greater. If you didn't join... You were a traitor.

"No, little one I have not come to join Mafa's pack. Such violence from one so young, what has happened in your young years to make you so?" She smiled eyes glittering with excitment. She was ususally confused by anger, but after meeting Mafa herself she understood why this hyena was so aggressive.
"Mafa has taught you to fear and hate, I see."

Bristling at being called little again, Schatz moved closer. "I told you not to call me little!" She spit at the ground in front of the other hyena, scowl deepening. "And Mafa didn't teach me. The world taught me! You try living like my sister and I have had to live! Our parents are kept by filthy HUMANS as PETS, and we were sent to be REAL hyenas. Real hyenas aren't nice!" Circling the older animal, the pup frowned. "Or do you sympathise with those filthy, rotten lions?"

"I see, the world is a hard place, maybe you should be surrounded by love, not by these filthy lands," she paused, "I side with all creatures, it is the only way for the world to become a peaceful place. It is unfortunate that your parents are kept."
She was not intimidated by Schatz, to her it was a terrible thing to see such a creature turned to violence and hatred. She wanted to cry and her heart strings were pulled by the hyena pup. She looked much older in age because of that hate.
"Mafa has encouraged this, has she not?"

"Love? Peaceful?" Schatz seemed to scowl even deeper. "The filthy beasts in the Pridelands won't let a single hyena in so that we may eat well. We must scavange off kills outside their lands where food is less plentiful. There is plenty of reason to be hateful! And I quite like it here. I feel safer here than out there, anyway. You don't know how many buzzards thought I was a carcass!" Tail swishing, Schatz headed back into the bones. "But why am I talking to a pressy lion-kisser? I have better things to do - Keeping those flea-bags out of OUR land." She stopped, glancing back. "A lion will sooner rip you apart than befriend you, you know. Just to warn you..."

"I have many lions that are friends young one! You shall see! Start going back to a hateful preacher, you will die young and never see the light," for the first time anger swelled inside Lamyae' being. This was terrible, how could she be so mean, so cruel to say that to one so young?
"I beg you to reconsider your need for hate..."Her voice trailed off.

"Then you're a traitor, and I'll gladly let Mafa know." Bi-colored tail swishing, Schatz climbed up onto a skull. "Step into the Pridelands with a belief like that, you'll be run out in a heartbeat. Lions will turn on you." Looking back, she scowled. "Hate... I have no hate. I have knowledge of the cold reality of life." Tail flicking, the pup climbed up a pile of bones. "The next time I see you, I hope your rotting carcass is being eaten by your beloved flea-bag lions."

Lamyae could not help but snicker, this child was uneducated adn brainwashed into believing a pack of lies. "Mafa knows of me, we have met and are on good terms," she went into a fit thinkngi of Mafa and began whooping and laughing loudly.
"Do you really believe you are on teh right side?

Schatz simply shook her head. She was tired of the other hyena already. "Of course I do." She dind't even bother to glare, it was a waste of effort for her. "Does Mafa know that you spit out lies and that you're in cohorts with lions? The Mafa I know HATES lions."

"Ahh, she is more rational than you would think. And if I told her that you were spreading rumours about her?" she chortled deep in her throat looking down on the foul creature. She had never experienced such digust ni her life, her soul heaved at the thought of her own kin being so cruel and unjust.
"I will take my leave," with that she turned, not caring to hear any of Schatz's answers this was becoming more of a child's arguements. Her demeanor was shaken the once graceful walk heavy and sorrow filled. One day she would help others understand.
