I leave free will on 99.9% of the time. Of course, every now and then a sim just goes completely stupid and I have to turn it off for a sec to make them regrow brains. This is especially the case when a bunch of adults all insist on trying to bath a toddler who doesn't even need a bath. stare

I mostly deal with smaller families (less than four people), so free will is just something nice to have. (:
Yeah, sometimes they pull food out of the fridge when they don't even need to eat, or do something else that might waste simoleons/time, but overall, I like leaving free will on.
It lets me play Sims2 as well as do some other task. biggrin
I trust my (smarter) Sims enough to handle themselves for a few minutes at a time. <3

i think the worst thing about free will is how they never serve meals... they always just make for themselves. and, yes, they'll start doing weird things that they don't even need to do. i find they usually only do that when all their meters are pretty close to being full, though.

Hmm, I don't know, it just depends on the size of the family and how hungry they are as a group. I like that they cook individually so they'll learn to cook assorted dishes, but I wish they could recognize when other people are hungry too and prepare accordingly. It's a pipe dream, I know. At the very least, I want an option to choose just how many servings they're making. Sometimes it's just WAY too much food and a lot gets wasted.

On the subject of cooking, I was usually always lucky when it came to my sims cooking meals because I didn't have a sim start a fire until I actually wanted it to happen. I tried really hard, too. I let him have free run and everything - no fires. I had to wait until dinnertime and have a sim with no cooking abilities try to cook MacNCheese or something. biggrin I just wanted to see what it looked like. o:

My sims always seem to create a fire on the first day of moving in/being created. Free will is essential to healty green mood sims. I forgot to pause for about an hour and came back to near death sims. They refuse to order food for themselves. confused They also sleep in the wrong beds/rooms.

Wow I feel like I have such well behaved sims now. The do everything on their own. I've even had one mom on there that would serve meals. Only one though.

I getting two sims married on a budget. The groom decided to throw the toasting wine away when another sim wanted to use it. I don't think that marriage would have gone very far.

ferretclaw can't live without it. gonk except when i'm making movies with eight characters on one lot. stare don't want one accidentally walking into the shot... i just use an extra room, the "closet" off set with no doors to keep that from happening. (i also always have one "extra" sim on the lot so if all of my characters are on set, the plumbob is in the "closet") but i guess turning off free will would help keep my sims where i want them in the shots wink

i was playing my legacy family and having the anniversary party for the grandparents, so at the time there was about 8 adults in the house, and everyone of them was trying to "help" with my 1 poor toddler who was red in the bladder and energy bars... someone would take him out of the crib and before they could pick him up again to go to the potty someone would put him back in the crib! I eventually had to use the moveobjects cheat to clear the room... DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!! long story short, it ended up making my toddler dissappear and we had to move everyone off the lot and back in, so they lost everything (except the toddler!) Which for a legacy family sucks cause that was in generation 3. Always be careful with moveobjects!

I like free will a lot more in TS2 over TS1. In TS1 they did a lot of stupid stuff when you weren't controlling them. But in TS2, if they have to pee, then they pee. It's on 100% of the time.
