Feel free to discuss any Doctor Who audio work here, whether it's Big Finish or BBC-produced. Missing Episode audio CDs and soundtracks also fall into this category.

I recently picked up the first CD in the Dalek Empire line, as the recent Dalek episode got me curious about Nicholas Briggs's experience with the psychotic pepperpots. Now, unfortunately, I'm going to have to track down the rest of it--it was very entertaining, and demonstrated the best use of a cliffhanger I've heard in a long time. The story moved quickly, and the human characters were for the most part sympathetic if not likeable (Alby's a far cry from previous Doctor Who special agents like Bret Vyon, and Kalendorf's rather frustrating at times as well). The Daleks themselves are quite menacing, and portrayed with much more intelligence and cunning than they've had in a long time, rather like their characterization in the new series. The Dalek Supreme's use of psychology to get Suz to do what he wants her to is very impressive. The tendency of the occasional Dalek to sound like K9 isn't so impressive, however...... I know this series has been out for several years, but it's well worth listening to.

So far I have three official Dr. Who Audio Dramas and several fan-made ones. The officals that I have are "Genesis of the Daleks", "Slipback", and "Ghosts of N-Space". I would love to get some of the Big Finish audios, but I always have trouble figuring out currency conversions.

I only got into the audio side quite recently. I haven't heard any fan stuff, though my friend does some I think...
Anyway, I'm trying to listen to the Big Finish 8th Doctor Audio Adventures in order. It's just getting exciting with Seasons Of Fear where the Doctor meddling in time and saving Charlie backfires. I think mostly they've all been quite good, though some of the characters who keep re-appearing are very stereotypical. I'm not a good judge of the American accent but in Minuet In Hell in particular the voices sounded a litte... extreme. So were the ones in Invaders From Mars, but in a good way.
I think the best voice I've heard has been the Brigadier. He makes a very good audio actor. The monsters I like too - even though they all sound the same!

The Excelcius (I think I spelled that right) ones are also very good. There's a trilogy of them with Anthony Stuart Head as a reccurring villain, and I think it was Doctors 5 through to 7, and then a follow up to them in the Bernice Somerfield series, but I can't remember what it's called.

I haven't listened to those ones but once or twice they get mentioned in other audios (like when 6 is boasting about his adventures to Frobisher...). I shall have to see about buying them if they are good.
The Gallifrey series is very good. Well, the first episode was. I also like Leela and K-9 together on the audios, they're a lot more light-hearted than the 8th Doctor ones.

One Big Finish that sticks in my head is the 5th Doctor and Nyssa in "Creatures of Beauty."
Just goes to show you that the Doctor does make mistakes, sometimes destroying a whole world. exclaim

The BEST 8th Doctor audio has to be Zagreus. I could listen to it again and again and again. And it has loads of the companions in too, not to mention an Alice In Wonderland plot. I always love those.

Corpse_Marker I rather like the Brig in that one. 3nodding Yes - but he's cool in all the audios he's in! xd I particularly liked him as the TARDIS in Zagreus, especially when he's complaining about all the female companions and slagging off Leela and Charlie. It was weird and funny. Have you listened to the U.N.I.T. audios? The Brig's in a few of those. I'm hoping they'll make him a more permanent character if they continue the series.

I want them to bring back Benton in the U.N.I.T. audios. I was never much of a fan of Mike Yates but Benton is so likeable.
I really hope that they do continue the U.N.I.T. series... I haven't heard anything about it for awhile. sad
