Aiden fluttered out of the shop, feeling that he much needed to breathe the crisp air outside. Not that he wanted to lose Lainey's scent... but it was much too heady still for him. He needed to calm down, maybe just sit quietly somewhere in the sun.

Although he usually walked, ever since meeting Lainey the highlander found he was unconsciously using his wings more & more.

"I don't think the flowers like me," the female stated softly to the male beside her as she stared fixedly on the wilting rose bush. Trista had read the books on gardening and had done everything religiously, but her thumb just seemed more black than green.

The male rubbed the back of his head with his paw as he watched the female mourn the loss of her plant. Having no idea what to say, Cadeaufine just let her stare at it. "I... err... maybe this just isn't your thing?" He felt bad, but she was so sensitive about things such as this.

The gentle fae paused hearing a conversation nearby. Dare he enter in? The quiet male sighed & followed the sounds.

Spotting the pair ahead he fluttered softly closer. They seemed to be focused around what seemed to be a rose in very poor condition. "Excuse me." He said in his soft-spoken manner. "but I dinnae think tis quite dead yet."

His gentle smile flickered. "I dinnae ken fo' sure, but my human has had ones look nigh as bad return."

Cad turned to eye the blue winged Audio in surprise. This one had wings? He didn't even know that was possible. He nodded absently to the words not understanding a bit of it. What language is this guy speaking? he wondered to himself.

Trista looked at Aiden with sad but hopeful eyes, not as interested in his appearance as Cad seemed to be. "You know how to save it? I would be in your debt if you helped it live, since it is my fault for it's near demise."

The elder audio blushed slightly. "I cannae promise anythin', lassie. But I can try." He really hated to see anyone upset, & his own gentleman's creed called him to give what aid he could.

Landing gently he took a withered stem in his hand & bent it. It did not snap easily & he smiled a slow, happy smile. "Aye, tis not too late, tha' is sure."

Yellow eyes flashed with embarrassment. "Ach! My apologies, Lass, Laddie. Aiden is th' name." The highlander bowed graciously.

Cad watched the newcomer bow, still not sure about what he was saying. He looked to Trista as if to let her know he was lost.

Trista gave a small soft smile and petted a leaf. "I'm glad." She really meant her statement; had the plant died at her expense she would have mourned it for weeks. "I'm Trista, and this is my brother Cadeaufine." She returned the bow with a deep nod of her head.

"Uh yeah, hi!" Cad smiled and waved, glad at least someone knew what was going on.

"Tis a pleasure te meet th' both o' ye." The fae replied with a smile before turning back to the poor withered rose. He felt the earth: damp, but not too damp. That at least seemed all right. And no black spots on the leaves or little white aphids. "De ye ken the type o' soil here, Trista-lass?"

The purple male looked elsewhere in resignation. Apparently this strange winged Audio spoke a different language. He wondered briefly about Trista's ease in comprehending but decided that since she loved to stick her nose in a book, she must have read about this new manner of speech. With a bored sigh, Cad flopped onto the ground.

Trista shook her head. "I do not," she quietly replied. She had no knowledge of soil testing or minerals, and she took to fidgeting in worry as they spoke.

The plaid highlander sighed. "I cannae check th' ph-balance without th' righ' equipment." A contemplative look touched his yellow eyes. "I wonder if Remus can be spared..." An' if he's home & not out with his lovely lady-friend, Nari...

Touching a small metal bud inside his ear that was likely unnoticed until Aiden drew attention to it the highlander spoke to someone not with them. "Hello? Myr-lass? So ye think ye can find Remus? See if he'd be willing te bring Trel's soil tester te th' Audio Shop? I'm jus' outside an' 'round the entrance. Te th' right." He listened a moment. "Aye. Thank ye, Myr lass. An maybe small packets o' limestone, sulfer, & th' nitrogen, if'n ye be so kind." He smiles. "Ah, thank ye. Yer a bonnie lass, Myranda."

Turning off his communicator he smiled at the two, an amuzed twitch to his brow as he finally noticed Cad lying on the ground. "T'will be but a moment. Tha' we can test te see if i'tis th' soil or something more nefarious."

There was a slight pop sound as a previously empty space nearby was filled with a large quadruped creature with three tails and features very like a fox wearing black wizards robes & a red & gold scarf. He bowed in greeting at those he did not know. "Remus J. Lupin at your service."

Aiden smiled warmly. "Well met, brother Remus. The lass be called Trista & the laddie her brother, Cadeaufine." He laughed & hugged the kitsu warmly. "Tis a mouthful, te be sure." Putting his wand into his robes the wizard kitsu nodded amiably at his brother, his own version of smile on his maw, then withdrew an odd package.

The fae audio took it gratefully. "It is all there, Aiden."

"Ach! Thank ye, Remus lad! Ye dinnae ken what t'will mean to th' rose."

Remus eyed the rose in question & raised his brow. "As you say. Except where their magical properties are concerned, muggle plants are a mystery to me."

The audio however was not paying much heed at the moment. He already had the tester out of the package & into the soil. Going through the testing procedures the highlander frowned. "Ach. Tha' be it then. Th' pH is fine, bu' there be no nitrogen in this soil. I dinnae ken how tha' happened, bu' this should help." With that he sprinkled the packet of nitrogen around the periphery of the bush, where the roots would be more likely to take it in faster. Then he turned over some of the moist soil on top so the nutrients would not be moves away before they could sink into the soil.

"Likely ye should water a wee bit, te help th' nitrogen sink in. Nay too much... fo' th' soil 'tis damp enough as 'tis."
