Alright, i know i have been a terrible guild captain lately, but here is my update.
Cardio exercise
Is there really a specific way to do it?
Cardio exercise is keeping your heart rate up by doing an intense physical activity.
So. My theory and my ponder is: Any physical activity can be a cardio activity. It has been said before and I will repeat it again, but I believe that any physical activity CAN BE cardio.
Take running for example. Everyone knows its cardio, its good for you, it can be fun and its easy to do. Why is it good for you? Well with a controlled and with a few repeated continuous motions, you can have your heart beating, your adrenaline flowing and all of your limbs moving all at once. Its perfect! except that not everybody is into running...
so lets go onto rowing. Rowing involves your arms, your legs and your abs.. Its an intense workout for your entire body, a lot of resistance exercise and its great cardio! why? Because your heart rate is up, your moving, your adrenaline is flowing all at once. Also perfect, but not everyone has a boat..
ok enough of that, im sure you got the point by now. Two great exercises, two totally different things, both great cardio workouts. So, put two and two together, allow me to point out the obvious once again but now if you do anything, it can become a cardio work out!
Biking, if you go at a fair speed for a good amount of time, excellent cardio, roller skating; very fast for an extended time, excellent cardio... Just pump up the intensity and time of whatever activity you love to do, and voila you have an instant cardio work out (except for weight lifting and such exercises which require a certain speed and a specific intensity)
And that kids is my painfully obvious, much needed ponder.

I normally just run. Sometimes I will kayack or roller skate. Bikeing is more or less a form of transportation if i'm going somewhere with my back-pack. Walking is good for extended amounts of time as well. Back-packing is very good cardio excercise.

I'm going into wrestling training and the first part should be cardiovascular exercise. I'll see what their exercise regime is.

Glowing in the darknesS hmm backpacking? I never thought of that. I really want to try that, in the grand canyon or something. Back packing is really good, obviously the heavier your pack is, the more of a work out it is. It is a great activity. Longest I've done is a 7 day hike over the Victorian Alpine region (in Australia). It was meant to be a 16 day hike, but only made 7 because I injured my knee and had to leave (didn't want to, but went home and was on crutches for the next week because my entire leg swelled up from the injury) But as long as you don't have a bad back, pretty much everyone can do it and it is so rewarding when you get to your destination point. Plus if it's for an extended amount of time, it's great for weight loss as you are active almost all of the daylight hours and you have to eat healthy to keep up your energy, plus drink loads of water. Great for a detoxation of your body smile

Yeah I spose you are right in saying that any exercise can be cardio. Even weights when done to improve power can be cardio if rest taken is minimal. Any exercise that is practised at high intensity can increase the heart rate and therefore be cardio I suppose.

Um, the definition of a cardio workout is to get your heart rate up to about 70% of your maximum rate, and keep it there for about twenty minutes. Weightlifting-type activities can't accomplish this, which is why most weightlifters should also donate about 3 days to do a 30-minute session of cardio per week. The other activities that have been listed so far however are all really good for cardio.

Yep, anything can be cardio. What I love is that you can get your cardio by working different parts of the body. It doesn't always have to be squats and lunges. heart
Kayaking is a fun way to work out, especially when you have to row for a few hours. I like going with friends, putting a few beers in each kayak, and racing down the river.
Er, the beer isn't exactly health related, but it's fun. smile rofl
