.... never heard of them. What are they?

Crazy Bananna
.... never heard of them. What are they?
The basic idea is to take the essence of certain plants and treat various conditions by balancing the body, creating a custom blend for your particular condition.

For instance.

"I am 20 years old. I usually feel very lonely, but I try to cover it up by talking a lot. I also sometimes feel incredibly depressed because I feel like I'm overwhelmed."

In this instance, you would blend Heather, Agrimony, and Elm.

Quote:
Heather

Heather is indicated for those who are preoccupied with their own situation or ailments and unable to enter into genuine two way communication with others. They drive others away by their extreme neediness. They exaggerate their symptoms, or make mountains out of molehills. They are compulsive talkers, needing an audience and will buttonhole people in order to talk in lengthy detail about themselves. They tend to speak rapidly, close into the listener's face.

They dislike being alone but fail to realise that they are often avoided because they sap other people's vitality and show no interest in other people's problems.

The positive potential of Heather is the good listener who is generous in helping others, selfless and understanding of other people's problems. Positive Heather people are able to put their own suffering to good use by empathising with others.

Agrimony

People who need Agrimony often appear carefree and humourous, but their joie de vivre is a mask for anxieties, worries and even real inner torment, which they may be trying to conceal from themselves as well as others. If in pain or discomfort, they are likely to joke about it, unwilling to express their real fears. They dislike being alone and are very sociable, seeking company as a distraction. They try to ignore the darker side of life, and prefer to make light of things rather than enter into a confrontation. They may also suffer from restlessness at night, with churning thoughts (see also White Chestnut).

Agrimoney people may suppress their discomfort with the aid of heavy drinking, or the use of drugs or comfort eating.

The positive potential of Agrimony is for those who are genuinely cheerful and good company, communicate their real feelings openly and can accept that life has its less pleasant side. Their cheerfulness stems from a real sense of self-acceptance and inner joy; they see problems in perspective and are diplomatic peace makers.

Elm

Elm is for those who feel overwhelmed by their workload. Usually competent and capable, they momentarily lose confidence and become despondent. Elm types make good managers and are often in positions of responsibility, concerned with the welfare of others, eg. doctors, teachers, therapists, heads of industry.

Elm is indicated when these capable people suddenly feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities and feel unable to deal with them or keep up with events; this is often brought about by taking on too much work without taking care of themselves. As a result they feel depressed and exhausted, with a temporary loss of self-esteem. Even a momentary doubt of their own abilities causes them to feel weak and debilitated.

The positive potential is restoration of one's normal capable personality, and a return to efficiency and self-assurance. Problems are seen in perspective and the person takes on only as much as he or she can cope with, taking time to look after his or her own needs.

There is also a mix called Rescue Remedy, that's specially blended for panic or shock.

Oh! I think I've seen rescue remedy at my local health food shop.

How does one obtain the essence of a plant?

Bach flower remedies sound interesting. I'm going to try to find a book on them.

You usually find them at health food stores, and I'm not sure how to get the essence out of the plants. It isn't oil, or flower water. I'm not exactly sure -what- it is. ^^;;

Bach flowers are awesome 3nodding i have tried the rescue remedy, that is really, really good. I have my little bottle of the specific flower essences that i wanted, and when i need it i use it, and when i am feeling better I forget about it. And as your needs change, you change the flowers. Its pretty cool mrgreen

Sorry to revive an old topic, but finally i find something i have tried that i can talk about!

Hey, revive away! XD We don't have a policy against necro'ing old threads- in fact, it's encouraged to cut down on clutter!

I took a little quiz on flower remedies, and came out with six or seven I need. I don't have my list here, but... wow. You read it, and you think "I Know that's me, but I don't want to admit it."

i know how you feel about not wanting to admit it. I have my little bottle of my 7 flowers and i rarely use it because "i can "cope" "

I know. You sit there thinking "This is only for when I'm -really- overwhelmed", but in reality, you -are- really overwhelmed. I mean, isn't denial of how stressed you are even a symptom that the remedy is supposed to help with? XD

Lucky you. I bought a bottle of rescue remedy for my sister (things are a little rough for her right now) and it was sixteen bucks. It's sitting in my medicine cupboard, though, so I'll be keeping it when she's done with it.
