Chapter 2:
Goodbye, hello…
Damien pulled himself out of Jacques hold, placing a soft kiss upon his cheek before turning away and getting dress. He picked up his bag and walked out the door whispering a ‘goodbye and I love you’ to his sleeping lover.
Damien knocked on Layla’s office before he heard the mumbling along the lines of ‘Come in’. So he opened the door and looked at Layla golden figure. Even when she was born of the Kishi she was one blessed with the complexion of a kenzie or a light as a human call them.
Layla looked at Damien with her pale blue eyes piercing into his silver-green ones, before giving her cold smile and laughing slightly.
“I see Jacques gave you a goodbye present. How sweet.”
“Shut up Layla. Tell me what I need to do. NOW!” He growled, touching the two perfect fang marks that were left on his throat.
“Touchy aren’t we? Well I need you to figure out exactly why Quasim is really in Nadine’s land. It can’t be because Nadine and Kaamil are lovers. If Kaamil loves Nadine then he would probably leave the organization, yet, 5 years later, more troops are showing up. And as you know Nadine’s land borders Wakanda’s land and ours. If Quasim gets Sorena of Wakanda to join with them and Nadine. We will be virtually alone in the battle if there is one. Now if we had some Crevans or Kenzie we would be safe but we don’t.”
“Why can’t we ask them? I could probably get Crevan soldiers to join. Since my mother is a descendant as am I.” Damien looked at Layla with a true look of curiosity.
“Damien Pyralis, you fool! The Kenzie and Crevans stay completely out of all wars that erupt on the land. They protect themselves and their lands but have never care about us. They abandon all their traitors who left the clan. Meaning you. So do your mission correctly and leave everything to us. You will leave in 2 hours. It will give you enough time to figure out a way to get in and out. Understood?”
“Yes, I understand.” Damien bowed down and turned to leave before he heard Layla call him back.
“Damien, if you don’t succeed Celeste will kill you. Jacques and I won’t be able to help and Celeste will have us chase you down and killed in front of everyone and let the Chogan feast upon your flesh.”
“I understand.”
Damien walked around, avoided Jacques and his room. Knowing that if he went back in and saw his still slumbering lover, he would never be able to walk out of the territory. So he wondered into the library-like building to read up upon the Crevans and Kenzies.
He found two old documents that were both written by the 3rd generation of each of the clans. He looked at the Kenzie generation first.
‘When the land was still covered in the dark mist that seemed to come from the heaven above, and it was still young to us but old to the living and breathing animals that roamed this land freely, the first Kenzie was created. Born of the limited light that shone through when the world moved close to Danica. Did the power of the gods from above created these beings that were called Kenzie or Lights. They were the first being created and took refuge in the mountains that overlooked everything.
The kenzie were beautiful people. They had silver eyes that held mirth and goodwill toward all. Their bodies lithe and willowy almost like the Irem trees that grow everywhere. With their long silvery hair and pale complexion they are considered the most beautiful thing ever created.
Unfortunately, they weren’t the last. Soon the gods decided that they were not meant to be the only ones who would live on there lands and they brought forth the village chief and claimed that they wanted them to think of what type of being they would want to wonder the planet along side them, so, they created the Crevan, the beings that took after the fox…’
Damien placed down the document as he picked up the one concerning the Crevans.
‘We were not suppose to really be here if not for the Kenzies and having to create us. We were lonely foxes that roamed freely without ever feeling anything toward the gods. Yet the Kenzie decided that we would be perfect to make in humans. So slowly our off springs gained bodies after being born and soon lost their hair and gained skin and human-like features.
Soon we began to walk around looking at ourselves. Human-like with long ebony hair, darker skin complexion and our eyes being all silver made us turn from everything we used to know. . We were soon hunted down and slaughtered like common livestocks!
Us, Crevans soon hid in the darkest reaches of the planet, never allowing the rays from Danica reach us. As we slowly became barbaric and lost our humanity, that never really existed…’
“But why were they distant from everything else? The Kenzie where envied for being beautiful and the Crevans for their fierceness. It makes no sense…and there is nothing else to past a few things of when outcast and what will happen…”
Damien growled and threw the papers back on the desk and walked out. Knowing it was time…
Damien looked upon the outskirts of Nadine’s city. He could pick up the faint scent of his brother and Kaamil coming from a local tavern. So he threw on his cloak and walked toward the smell.
Upon opening the door, all the eyes drew unto the figure as the women ducked behind the men picked up their daggers to protect themselves.
A lone figure walked up to Damien and smiled uneasily. “Kind sir, may..May I be of assistance?”
Damien lowered his hood and looked at the man in the eyes and smirked before the man walked out of the way, as others jumped up and started to advance toward Damien.
“Damien Pyralis, so you are alive.” Kaamil said standing up, knocking the girl who sat in his lap to the floor. “We all assumed you were dead when we found the bloody mess and your body, but I guess we were wrong, weren’t we, Ignatius?”
Damien growled softly and glanced around the room till his eyes fell on a pair of green ones with ebony bangs covering them slightly.
“Hello brother..” A cool voice asked before the man jumped to his feet and tackled Damien’s slightly bigger frame, knocking him to the ground. “Or are you even my brother?” He laughed placing a cool dagger to Damien’s throat; As Damien dug his claws into Ignatius shoulder.
“Stop right now.” Another voice screamed as they looked up at the figure of a woman in all purple. “You will not fight on my land. Now get up and follow me.”
