Post your favourite bands/artists/albums here. Also what you're listening to at this very moment.

(Because I said to, and I want more topics/posts.)

My current favourite bands are:

1) The Decemberists
2) Dios (malos)
3) The Long Winters

I am currently listening to 'The Sporting Life' by the Decemberists.

I'm currently listening to the "X" soundtracks, Gackt, Nightwish, and the Star Wars Episode III soundtrack.

Fave bands
1) Nightwish
2)Blind Guardian
3)John Williams (composer)
4)The Black Mages (Nobou Uetsemu's band)

EDIT: AS OF 5-25 the Blind Guardian song "And Then There Was Silence" is permanently attatched to my Winamp playlist. 15 minutes of amazing Instrumentation and Vocals (ME and my brother counted the vocal harmonies and there is a total of 27 overdubbed vocals )....it may be 15 minutes long, but with all the rhythm changes it seems like 6 minutes.

Sorry bout the rant, but that song is so freakin' amazing! Check it out if you got the time (As long as you don't mind vocalists who can really sing^_^)

LOL
That's not too odd, my music playlist goes from Children of Bodom to Mozart, or Slayer to Sarah Brightman... much more of a drastic switch and throws off a lot of people at parties^_^

Lunascape
Bond
Flogging Molly
Pogues
Pink Floyd
Blue October
No Doubt (Excluding Rock Steady >_<)

That's all that comes to mind right now.

Everybody...Go buy this CD

"Century Child" by Nightwish

It is one of the best cd's you've never heard....unless you've heard of Nightwish....then you probably already own it...

My Grandparents hate Music like this...but they liked this album....It's deep, thoughtful, sorrowful, and good.

It also has an interesting cover of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" occupying track 10 on the cd.

You owe it to yourself to at least download the album!

Ayahh! I love Nightwish. The only album I own is "Once," but I hear it isn't as good as their older stuff. I love the POTO cover.

My CD wallet consists of:
Nightwish: Once
Evanescence: Fallen (though I don't listen to it much anymore)
All three LOTR soundtracks and a soundtrack "inspired by" LOTR
The White Stripes: Elephant heart
k-os: Joyful Rebellion gonk heart
Sam Roberts: We Were Born in a Flame
Dan Gibson's Solitudes: Beethoven - Forever by the Sea heart
A mix CD of mostly Canadian new rock
A CD of mostly Legend of Zelda songs
Avril Lavigne: Let Go (for nostalgia purposes XD)
The Shrek soundtrack
Juno Nominees 2004 (kind of like the Canadian Grammies)
Backstreet Boys (four albums XD they're not dead yet!)

And then some stuff I choose not to remember... like MUCH Dance 2003 and 2004, Destiny's Child, etc. They no longer reflect my tastes.

I also like System of a Down's older stuff.

*GLOMP*

You love Nightwish!!!!!!!!

Yeah, they're my fave^_^ Once is a great album but I still like Wishmaster and Century Child the best!

As for Evanescence, I love "Fallen", but as you said, I don't listen to it much either. I managed to get a hold of the rare demo cd...it's much better. (The song October is amazing).

Also, I too have the Zelda cd's playing constantly.

Also, since you like the LOTR soundtracks and the cd inspired by LOTR, I'll reccomend a cd by a German band called Blind Guardian.

They have an album called "Nightfall in Middle Earth" which is based off of Tolkien's book "The Silmarillion". Have no fear, the singer can actually sing, he doesn't do the annoying growl/scream you hear in most metal. He has a very well trained voice that he uses (more along the lines of a classically trained singer). The sound is not angry, it sounds like a group of minstrels with electric guitars! Great cd, 20 something songs (some are 30-50 second spoken word things). If you like Tolkein, you'd really enjoy the cd. (good songs to check out off of it if you would like to download a few are "Nightfall", "Mirror Mirror", "When Sorrow Sang", and "The Curse of Feanor".

Interestingly enough, their followup cd had a song based off of DragonLance (The Soulforged) and Homer's Illiad (The song is a 15 minute opus called "And then there was Silence"...there is a part in there that you cant help but get stuck in your head xd )

But anyhoo....Yeah, if you like Nightwish's "Once", I would reccomend you check out "Century Child" and "Wishmaster"^_^
Also check out the progressive metal group Sonata Arctica. They're another good band from Finland (Where Nightwish is from^_^)

Oh dear god....I don't know why I forgot about this cd till now....

The last Iron Maiden album was phenominal...

"Dance of Death" is the best stuff they've ever done!!!!!!

45 second clip from the title track (not the best part, but great nonetheless!

I likes pretty much everything, but I'm in an area that mostly only gets mainstream and anime OSTs...

That being the case, here are my top 3 favorite CDs that I own, in no particular order:

Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane
Kajiura Yuki - XenoSaga II soundtrack
Tenjoh Tenge OST 1

As for what I'm listening to right now? I've got the Disgaea Practice Stage music on in the background, because my roomie is playing said game and trying to have his characters learn their apprentice's class skills >_<

<3 @ Wicker Man. ^_^

Ahhh, I love Bon Jovi. I'm trying to convince my mom to go with me to his concert next week. I've even offered to pay for both of us. I keep slipping persuasive notes (ie. "BON JOVI: THINK ABOUT IT," "BON JOVI: YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO," "BON JOVI OR BUST") in random spots I know she'll look at. xd

I so want to gooooo...
