For any vegetarians trying to get by (myself included)!
exclaim PROTEIN
Really, that's going to be a main concern. Egg Whites and Milk are an excellent source of this. However, if you're vegan, any types of beans are great sources of protein- especially lima beans. If you're into Greek food, hummus is also a good source.
exclaim MEAT-SUBSTITUTES
Not all of it is as nasty as it looks. Though I advise to stay away from veggie dogs. Just say no. >_> Anyways, if you find tofu horrifying (like me) try finding other soy substitutes. Such at boca bugers or garden burgers. MorningStar has a large variety or soy-made foods randing from soy chicken to soyburgers (which are actually, not so bad)
exclaim VEGGIES
4 servings or veggies a day. If you're a vegetarian and you don't eat vegetables... you're so screwed.

It is hard to be on a vegetarian diet. I'm vegetarian due to the fact that I can't stand the taste of meat (with exceptions to bacon and beef mince).
I find it hardest to get protien in my diet, so I'm starting to eat a lot of almonds, but trying not to over do it as they're very high in kJ and fat.

(Im about to be a know it all, you have been warned)
It is healthy to eat nuts, olive oils and fish even though they have a noticable amount of fat becaus they contain the good kind of fat for your body. The kind of fat you do want to avoid is those in hydroginated foods and in potato chips (i know it hurts me too). Keep eating those nuts a plenty because they are awsome for your health

Tofu is excellent choice for protein. They are just like meat. Soy milk, which is good for your heart and don't prevent cancer. Eat good amount of vegetables. I'm vegetarian too. People who eat meat, don't just eat meat without veggies, heard that its bad for you. Watch out for bad protein.
Nuts and fish has omega 3 fat, which is good fat. Use that HOPE formula.

As far as being vegetarian and weightloss is concerned, if you're not balancing your diet you're ********. Most vegetarians turn to grains like some kind of savior, and while yes, grains CAN be a savior and indeed, they can be good in large quantities but they have to be the right grains.
Amaranth, quinoa (especially, high protein!) Bulghur, Steel cut oats, and brown rice are among the grains that are best to eat.
As far as protein goes? You really don't need as much as people seem to think. An egg (literally just one) will supply you with all the protein you need in a day. But you can't rely on only eggs.
It's not hard being vegetarian in the slightest, we're just not trained for it.
