In my opinion all forms of music are great. It just has to do with personal preference.

I like rap more than R&B myself.
But I'm still a little iffy on the difference between hip hop and rap.

The analogy lots of my friends who are big hip-hop heads use is this: rap is something you do, but hip-hop is lifestyle. Or something like that.
Personally what I think the difference is is this: rap is to singing, as rock is to hip-hop. And "rock" in that analogy could be substituted with any other musical genre that uses an artist's vocal chords.
Personally, I love all types of music. My favorite genre is rock music, which in itself encompasses a lot of other sub-genres that "fight" amongst themselves. >_< And then I also love Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop, as well as some "oldies" that I'm not quite sure what category to put under (Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Joel, etc etc.)

For rap I mostly only listen to old school songs. Ice Cube, NWA, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G. etc... Today most rap just seems to be the same thing over and over again to me. The only mainstream artist I really listen to at the moment is Chamillionaire.

PrinceMongo I like rap more than R&B myself.
But I'm still a little iffy on the difference between hip hop and rap. look rap has just catchy beats and lots of metafores and hiphop is more of the song you gotta listen to the words to understand like a story
