Well.. Here it is. The idea for this guild lingered in my mind for quite some time before I decided to go ahead and create it.
Being a die-hard Harry Potter fan, as well as an even more avid fan of fanfiction (er, fiction itself, really!), and noticing that a great deal of other people shared these interests along with me, I decided to go ahead and create a place where all of it could come together.
Originally, I wanted to make a guild dedicated to theories and essays on the series, but, seeing as how book 6 is coming out shortly, the purpose of such a guild wouldn''''t last long.
And so, the idea of fanfiction came along.
Now then, there are a great deal of holes in my layout for this guild as a whole, so bear with me on that. I'll have made everything that needs to be here in good time.
So.. Off I go to do just that !

.. Woo and yay for updates!
I just finished the banner.. Um, actually, it took me about a half-hour to do, so that doesn't explain the long overdue guild activity.
I'm still kind of iffy about the title, so if anyone thinks they have a better one, let me know.
As for getting the word out about this guild's existence.. I have no clue. Unless I turn into a complete (pardon the language) whore (publicizing in forums, brandishing words in peoples faces, all that jazz), I'm pretty sure it'll just have to be done the old-fashioned way (being sigs and general word of mouth). Which is all good, if you ask me...
Also (I don't know why I didn't mention this before), I feel that it is neccesary for everyone in this guild to exercise (or at least try to) an overall tolerance for.. well, everything that some HP fans tend to enjoy (certain pairings, among other things).

Meeeh.. Not a whole lot of news.. Have you all been hanging out in the Harry Potter forum? It's fun to make up new theories..
I had an idea for a project that we can all participate in. It's.. *drumroll* a group fic! surprised *cricket* But really.. I think it's worth a shot. It'll be like a chain; One person can start out with an opening paragraph, and then the next poster will add onto it however much they want (preferably more than one sentence, less than two paragraphs. Or something)..
Tell me if you think it's any good.

07.18.05Aargh! I just found this out.. The "Guild Account" that they provide us is completely pointless. I can't even get into it..! So, I created a guild mule by the name of Mr_Chauncey. If you want to donate to the guild from now on, start a new trade with him. I'm really sorry that I didn't know this sooner.. it's rotten that we've got a guild account but we can't do anything with it.

feel-good-hit Aargh! I just found this out.. The "Guild Account" that they provide us is completely pointless. I can't even get into it..! So, I created a guild mule by the name of Mr_Chauncey. If you want to donate to the guild from now on, start a new trade with him. I'm really sorry that I didn't know this sooner.. it's rotten that we've got a guild account but we can't do anything with it. *waves* mrgreen

Anyway, I hope you've all had time to read H-BP whee . In which case, you're all probably discussing it in the Harry Potter forum (like me) right now.. Actually, I've been looking for new fics/fanart (there should be loads come August).
I'm going to make a sig for Mr_Chauncey that lists all of the guild transactions (once we've actually got some!) so that we all know exactly how much is in the guild bank.
On a different note, I'm bursting at the seams with happiness that we're finally getting new members! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy... We'll have contests and the such before you know it! *cries*
[edit] I've also sent the money back to everyone who donated via the front page (which is only two people, but still) so that I don't feel like a theif anymore.. sweatdrop

I've been working on some graphics for the front page, so that possible future members aren't scared away right from the get-go.
I also got an idea (Run and hide!! .. hehe no). Since this guild is dedicated to HP fanfiction, I thought it would be nice if we all had a joint account on fictionalley.org (or some other major fanfiction site, I don't know yet), so that we could work as a group on our fics. Or something.
I dunno, it's just an idea. It'd be really great if I got some feedback on it from you all.

Newbie guide created yesterday. I'll probably add some rules onto it once I think of some.
As a side note: Be more active people!
As another side note: Does anyone know the exact policy Gaia has on materials (fics, in our case) rated R and above? I've always thought an indirect link (Like to a google search page; that's the safest way, in my opinion. You just give the link to the search page and say which link will lead them to the right page. It's a bit meticulous, though.) would be okay, but I might be wrong.. It's a bannable offense, I believe, so I'd love it if I knew what sort of precautions to take note of.

I just changed the mule's username from Mr_Chauncey to Dementy-Whatsit.. Just because I was so shocked that it hadn't been taken already, and that it's a little more relevant to HP.
Also, to those of you who were sent back their donations via the guild front page, consider yourselves fortunate. From now on, I'm going to keep my mouth shut about not donating to the guild bank, mostly because it is my understanding that it will be useable in the future. Everyone who donates to the mule will be mentioned, of course, and once I'm able to access the formal account, I'm going to put all the money people donated to that account into the real one.
I'd like to have a fundraiser of some sort, in the near future, but.. Meh, this place is too dead to do that right now (need more members!). I really need some money in the account so that we can start the contests! Or at least some rare items.. If anybody's got trunks or giftboxes (or even letters/donation items!) that they don't need, please PLEASE donate them so that they can be used for prizes!

I've been looking for ways to rack in some big money.. Turns out that art auctions are the way to go, apparently. sweatdrop
It's not guild-related, but I'm probably donating about half the profits to the guild, and it would be cool if you visited the thread. *points to sig*
