I'm to a point in my cosplaying where I've done pretty much every costume I've wanted to do. So now I'm going back and improving them. One of the things I want to do is get colored contacts for some of my costumes. Namely, white contacts for Hinata from Naruto, and cat-eye contacts for Suzu from Peacemaker Kurogane. Does anyone have any websites that they would recommend? I'm looking for good-quality but cheap contacts. Preferably ones that allow for prescriptions. Thanks!

Ah! The infamous costume contacts question. Yes, nowadays, you cannot get costume contacts without a prescription. They passed a law recently that no one can sell them without one, or else it's illegal.
Before you actually buy the contacts I strongly advise that you make an appointment with your optometrist to get sized and have him/her tell you anything and everything you need to know.
Probably the least expensive place for costume contacts that I can think of would be CosplayLab.Com, they've lowered their prices so much. That's the page for the cat-eyes. Hinata's can be found on this page. There are actually 3 that you can use on the Immortal Eyes page: Grishnakh, H. Neji (which is the activated Byakugan), and Y. Ino NO VISION (but as the name of the contacts says, you cannot see out of them, so I wouldn't recommend them). You can also check out SFXeyes. Happy cosplaying!

I've actually had contacts before, been fitted for them and everything. I do need to find out what my current prescription is, though. ^^; I have it written on a piece of paper, but I don't know which number is for which eye. Heh. Thanks again!

You're welcome! I just threw in a warning because some people have messed up their eyes by ordering the wrong size contacts and other similar problems. Post pictures of your finished cosplay when you're done!

law or no law, you can still get color-changing contacts through the internet.
they use UPS, no federal carriers are involved.

While they are not contacts, I think coxworx sells similar non-perscriptive contacts, from what Voltz (One of StripperVash's friends) said and there non-toxic too. Anyone can wear them, prescribed or not. He used his for his Kajaj cosplay or Yazoo and they worked well. Can't remember which one he was.

Some colors of contacts can be ordered straight from your Opthamologist. I did that with my purple and green ones.
Besides the law, I highly recomend going to your Opthamologist for contacts if you've never worn them before. You will really get trained to use them which is very important. It's your eyes we're talking about! It's very easy to damage them or get an infection unless you know the proper way to care for your contacts, so at least make an appointment.
