Oh, that movie.
I think that while the special effects look fantastic, the plot looks like it's... well, "lacking".
Sounds like the movie is all about some kids with "Teh Powarz" and one of them wants everyone elses' to be... "Teh Ubarifik Powarfulz", so they're all running away from him, or trying to kill him, or something.
It sounds very unoriginal; looks like great eye candy though, like War of the Worlds was.

What I really don't like about it is that they used the pentacle to represent the movie...which gives people the wrong impression about Wicca...
The previews have people flying around and stuffs like that...think people might start thinking that Wiccans can do that?

Lol, The Pentacle isn't just a Wiccan thing, many Pagans wear one.
Also- I totally wish I could fly. O.o

That's the impression I got as well, and although the pentagram isn't really that significant to me, personally, I know that it is very sacred to some, and I found it offensive.. Even though I'm not Wiccan, I don't like people stereotyping or movies like this get away with misrepresenting an entire group of people. I would feel the same about any group, religion, whatever. I just don't think people should use holy symbols in such a way.

Too many religions have used a pentagram as a symbol of their faith so trying to assert that it's an all around Pagan (that makes no sense, really, considering there is no "Pagan religion"), or even a Wiccan symbol seems really foolish to me. I'd also be a hell of a lot more worried about a movie which has Pagan sacrificial rituals in it surrounding a missing little girl, meaning - people's reactions to it. I'm not going to worry about this "Teen Horror/Action Movie Magnet" other than it might drag some more poser idiots to the "scene". Whatever the ^&$$ the "scene" is, anyway...

So, you have a problem when someone uses symbols or mythology of your religion for entertainment, but its ok when it's someone elses'? Ok, then... Does no one know what The Wicker Man is? I'm disapointed...

I know what The Wicker Man is, my brother has apparently seen it, and he likes to complain about how badly the christians treat the pagans. I'm getting quite sick of my brother imitating the cop by spitting in my face while yelling "You're a PAGAN!". The most interesting thing is my brother isn't a pagan. smile

I hardly think this movie is going to damage Wicca's reputation. Most people who actually know about Wicca know it's nothing like the movies. And the few people who do believe it are idiots and probably already have silly ideas about Wicca. Especially if they've watched the craft. Plus, as someone else pointed out, many religions (and bands) use the pentacle. It's a cool symbol, and it scares the hell out of some people.
