The woman who entered the club was as out of place as a virgin in a bordello.

The clash was almost as agonizing, as well. The entrance to the club was packed with dark souls and darker substances, but they seemed to melt out of her path as she calmly mounted the steps to the heavy double doors. Her skin was porcelain white and just as beautifully translucent, rich blonde hair curled in a French twist with little strands floating down around her face. Delicately pointed ears did not stand out, for her entire image was faintly exotic and expensive- she wore a suit of dark jade green, tailored pants and jacket over a white satin blouse. She had no business being there at all, but she never hesitated as she slipped through the crowd.

"I'm looking for Gwenevere," she murmured in her low, husky voice to the bouncer that stepped protectively into her path, glaring behind her to those watching. Her grip on his arm was surprisigly strong. "Take me to him, if you please."

Startled by the name and her presence, the man could do nothing but nod- leading her around the edges of the floor in search of her prey.

So sayeth the law of shadow
No night is so long to stop day from following.
So long as I reach the air and finally feel my colours change.

    ___________

The villain himself stood against the far wall.

    "This means nothing to me
'Cause you are nothing to me
And it means nothing to me
    That you blew this away."

She was pretty. Tall, all legs and raven colored hair that almost touched the floor. It went well with her short skirt and halter top. The clothes would have been too predictable, but her personal sense of style and the way she wore make up made her stand out in the crowd. She was his type. Full of hopes and dreams, looking for a good time between doses of reality painted in suits and briefcases. By day she was lawyer.

"'Cause you could've been number one
If you only found the time
And you could've ruled the whole world
    If you had the chance."

All that turned him on. He loved the life stories. The stupid little photographs tucked into wallets. The fact that she still kept her first ID picture- it was taped to an image of her dog. She looked young, but still so pretty.

    "You could've been number one
And you could've ruled the whole world
And we could've had so much fun
    But you blew it away."

Gwen stood infront of her, one hand braced against the wall she was pressed back againt. They'd been flirting all night. She looked happy- he'd been entertaining her with trivial little stories to make her laugh. It worked like a charm. He flicked his cigarette ash aside, pausing to inhale deeply. The smoke filtered upwards in a serpentine coil before he returned to his story, flashing her a smile.

    "You're still nothing to me
And this is nothing to me
And you don't know what you've done
    But I'll give you a clue~"

"Still lowering your standards, Gwen," Liliah murmured to herself, eyes softening. They were violet today, out of respect for the suit she wore. That poor girl. She knew well what Gwen had planned for her- but if she hadn't come to see him personally, she wouldn't have interfered. Things that brought Gwen joy were few and far between, and she adored him enough to let him have his fun. She was arrogant enough, however, to think that he should be looking higher for his entertainments- she'd been one of them, after all.

Still, he did seem to be enjoying himself. Pity. She stepped close to the bar, knowing she would catch his eyes like a magnet and iron, knowing that her presence was vibrating along the nerves of most of the men present, and half of the women. She wasn't a sex object, she was a fantasy- it was semi-disturbing for many of them, to think that she might be real.

Something in her eyes requested white wine, and she was handed a glass from almost reverent fingers. Her smile graced the bar, leaving a sigh in it's wake- such a melodramatic entrance. All she'd wanted was to be with her dear friend.

Like a leash being snapped taunt, Gwen's attention jerked from the woman he was seducing to the bar. His fingernails dug into the wall, chipping the paint slightly. He turned back to the woman, irritation written across his features.

"You bore me," He growled, all pretense of interest dissolving in a sudden rush of distaste. Gwen pushed away from her, walking to the bar. She looked startled at the change- eyes glistening with the first signs of tears.

It wasn't enough and he ached for the rest... but pushed it away as he approached Liliah.

"And what are you doing here?"

"I am sorry," she murmured, reaching up to trail long, perfectly manicured fingers into his hair and pull his head down where she could kiss him deeply. He tasted like sin and temptation- as usual. It made her smile as she pulled away slightly, shorter than usual. Liliah made a habit of buying clothes she liked, then changing herself to fit into them. For his sake, she hoped the other woman was watching- she didn't mind helping him twist the knife.

"I would have called, but I wasn't certain I would be in the area," she purred at him, one hand shifting to lay flat on his chest. "Can you forgive my spontaneous nature? I have time to stay and dance."

"This time," He put his cigarette out, dropping the remnants of the smoke into an ashtray. Gwen took her hand, leading her out onto the dance floor. It was packed with people, but it still seemed open and airy. Whoever designed the club had done a good job.

Gwen tugged her close, arm wrapping around her thin waist to rest his hand on the small of her back. He couldn't speak with her if they weren't this close, the music was loud enough to be felt booming IN your bones.

"So what brings you here," Warm breath brushed against her ear, tickling the loose hair at the side of her face. "It can't be just a casual visit, hmm?"

"Mmm," she murmured in reply, snuggling against him, moving easily with his steps. "A new player enters the game- that 'Morion' has awoken from his facade. His control is lacking, and Kaher is on his way to supervise- Galatyne seems to be under fire from the 'family' for keeping their eyes so skillfully closed. Fools. You may see him here soon, if he can pull himself together enough to be worthy of the honor. Gala seems to think he will go very far...I am reserving judgement until I meet the boy."

Her warm whisper had an edge of scathing, but her nails trailing down his back were still focused on the company she kept. She smelled of lilies and white wine. "And, of course, I wanted to see you."

"Of course," Gwen replied, rolling his eyes.

"I won't anticipate anything in the future from him. I doubt he'll make it. He sounds like a waste of effort to me and now he's just the shadow of lie."

"Kaher puts his faith in terrible places..." His arm tightened around Liliah, possessive. "I'll believe it when I see it."

"Kaher puts his faith in you..which I suppose proves your assessment," Liliah teased him dryly, raising a fingertip to touch his lips. She tasted them again, eyes closing from the enjoyment of being so close to him- it made a girl happy, having men willing to fight over her. That Gwen was so nearly as dear to her heart as her husband made her shiver.

She shook her head, brilliant eyes opening to watch him again. "The boy has trapped Gala in his illusions, more than once- that screams much potential. You know that if anyone can break the stubbornness out of him, it will be our Heron- neither you nor I have his patience. Will you give him the chance to earn your respect, darling Gwen? Or leave me despairing in your wake, as you have so often in the past?"

It was impossible not to smile around Gwen, for liliah, at least. She did try, but the smile lurked around the corners of her lips like a kiss.

"If he makes it this far, I will give him a small chance..." Gwen broke away from her, the tattoo's across his exposed arms shifting. His attention moved toward the front of the club, eyes narrowing as he scanned the people moving in and out. His lawyer had left.

It couldn't be helped now.

He turned back to Liliah. "You didn't come to see me after all." He shook his head, walking past her. "Typical."

Thumbs hooked into the belt loops of his low slung pants, belt black and studded with almost-sharp studs. "I'll wait for your 'screaming potential'- but I won't hold my breath."

Turning with him, she slipped an arm through his- still smiling, accustomed to his moods and roughness. She preferred him this way- she wouldn't know what to do with a sensative, warm Gwen. Ugh. She had a husband for that.

"I told you I had time to stay," she murmured, arching an eyebrow at him. "Are you going to throw away the opportunity, my darling Gwen, or make the most of it?"
PostPosted: Tue Aug 22, 2006 12:49 pm

"What opportunity?" Gwen replied as he glanced at her- lip curling slightly. "You're here to ask me to help out the Heron. If all of this hadn't come up, I doubt you'd even be here at all..."

He turned around, lifting his thumb to press to the side of her mouth. "Don't lie to yourself darling, save that chance for everyone else."

One slender hand gripped the front of his shirt, yanking him down to her level. He'd irritated her, and it infuriated her more to know that he probably enoyed every minute of it. b*****d.

"Don't make me do something vulgar on this dance floor, Gwenevere," she growled low, eyes flashing. "I came for no such thing- only to share a bit of information, and see someone who brightens my day. Kaher is quite capable of taking care of himself...busy as it keeps him."

She sniffed, glaring at him like a feline denied it's catnip. It wasn't that she was opposed to stripping him then and there...it just might get a bit drafy.

"You can't threaten me, Liliah-" Gwen leaned down further, smirking at her. "Your angry and I love it. So easily toyed with... even after all these years."

He tilted his head, eyebrow arched. "True, Kaher can take care of himself.. but that has nothing to do with if he can take care of you."

"Right now, you are doing no better," she breathed, locking eyes with him in direct challenge. "Perhaps I shall leave both of you as unworthy...a shame, that coming here for comfort finds me such cold company."

Damn, but she loved the b*****d. p***k.
