Anyone have a recipe that's good for lotion? I don't want a salve or a wax or anything oily like that. I'm looking for a light, creamy and smooth lotion recipe.

i don't because i have no knowledge of lotion making but..can you make something where the base product is oat milk?
One of my lotions from Lush is made mainly from oat milk Dream Creamand it's beautifully light, and of course very beneficial/soothing to the skin. I know there are still a lot of oils in that, but they aren't the main component and that makes a big difference, i'm not sure how easy oat milk would be to produce on a non commercial scale though sweatdrop

Scratch that, i had a look around and it looks very easy! Though it would maybe need reducing for use in a lotion.
Quote:
Fill a large jug with one-third oats and two-thirds water. Mix, and leave overnight. The next morning, sieve the mixture and you will be left with a milky liquid that can be drunk as it is or used in place of cow's milk in some recipes.

Oats are great when used in the bath too, tie some in a muslin cloth/bag and suspend beneath the hot tap as your bath fills and the water becomes milky and soothing. Put herbs in the bag too and you're well away, the plus point of this is that when your bath is run you use the little cloth bundle to clean yourself with, the muslin gently exfoliates, and as the oats break down further they release their soothing proteins onto your skin, and it really does smell nice too 3nodding

oh, that sounds nice... I used to put oatmeal in a muslin bag and drop it in my bath.

^^ I'm asking about the lotion 'cause salves are too thick for use as massage stuff, and oils are messy and ... well, oily. And I ran out of my fave lotion,a nd I need a base to add nice oils to.

I found this on a website that I googled.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Basic Lotion Recipe
First of all, you may want to select containers with colored caps that remind you of the scent you made. Wal-Mart carries empty Pet Bottle with different colored caps in their beauty and travel section. So, I would pick a clear bottle with a purple cap for lavender, as one example.
Heat up 3/4 Cup of Oil of Your Choice in the microwave with 2 teaspoons of Steric Acid and 1 teaspoon of Emulsifying Wax until melted. In a separate plastic bowl with a pour mouth preferably, heat up 1/2 cup of water of your choice (such as rainwater) in the microwave with a 1/2 teaspoon of Borax (the Mule Team stuff) until boiling hot.
Then use the same plastic pour mouth bowl you boiled the water in and slowly whip in the oil mixture with a hand blender. Keep mixing until fairly cool. At this time, you can add vitamin e oil, a little color, fragrance, whatever you consider great stuff! When the lotion seems well mixed, funnel into pretty plastic lotion bottles. If you are going to take longer than a month to use this, I recommend putting a touch of Germaben II to body products; they will tend to form black little microbes after a few months. Vitamin e is a natural preservative and may help.
Variations:
Once you get the chemistry down, the interplay is wide open. You can use green tea instead of water or rainwater, or water infused with whatever herb you like. On the oil side, you can soak the oils in elements such as we do with bee pollen, strain and then use for the oil part. The possibilities are endless and these variations also apply to Cremes below. For those with Eczema or Psoriasis, adding 10% of pine tar at the mixing stage may help them tremendously. In that case, I would use Castor oil as my oil of choice. You can offset the smell of pine tar with cinnamon or nutmeg.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now, I don't personally know of anywhere that you can get straight Steric Acid, but I did find a supply website that has something that can be substitued for the Steric acid and borax mixture, and just baout everything else that this recipoe calls for.

Supplies

I hope that this works for you, Kyoki.

Baby's doing good. He's healthy, has a good steady heartbeat, and loves to move around. My mom and sister are planning the baby shower for Oct 21st, and so far we have a headcount of like 70-80 people. Most of them are expected to show, so I'm panicing at that.
How's about you? How are you and your brood doing?

Broody, of course. XD Not bad, although you're still one up on me in the kids department. XD We're still trying, but GAWD! As often as the media tells us about teens getting knocked up, you think it'd be easy for someone who's TRYING! XD So we're still practicing.

Sometimes it takes time. It's harder for some women to concieve than others. I'm sure that there are probably some herbal remedies or tinctures that can help with that, if it's something that you want to try.

You know, I brought that up in the Medicine subforum, but nobody answered. I know I'll have difficult times because of my condition, so this isn't really a shock. But I'd like to try some natural stuff before the doc stuffs the Clomid down my throat to get me to stop whining about babies. XD
