Located on the west side of the castle, one can enter Ravenclaw Tower, where the students of Ravenclaw can find their common room. The Ravenclaw common room is a haven for some of the brightest witches and wizards in the school. After being chosen by the sorting hat- you are led by a prefect to the house entrance. A large portrait of a tall knight in shining armor swings open to reveal the Ravenclaw common room. Welcome to the Ravenclaw Common Room! The first things you see are two eyes twinkling brightly, as you step closer you realize that they are centered upon the beaming face of Rowena Ravenclaw, the founder of Ravenclaw. (It is of course, just a portrait) A small sapphire eagle pendant is tied around her slender neck. The walls are painted a cool dark blue and are trimmed with a robust bronze that shimmers and dances in the daylight. A few squishy teal armchairs are inhabited by students, many of whom are doing class work on a large black table. The Ravenclaw Eagle is painted boldly upon it in gold. Two rather large azure couches face the north, with a wonderful view through the many large glass windows. A roaring fire cackles and emits blue sparks. Above the fireplace is a large picture of the old Ravenclaw head of house, Professor Filius Flitwick. His small, kind face smiles and winks at those that pass. Another smaller picture of the current heads of house, Stephanie Bauer and Raven, hangs beside it. Other portraits of old wizards line the walls as well. Two spiral staircases lead up to the girl and boy's dormitories. Ask any older Ravenclaw and they will tell you, "If you even try to go into the incorrect dormitory, the stairs will slide from beneath you!" Be aware that the house ghost, they Gray Lady, looms around the common room late at night.
