Instead of having multiple threads along the lines of, "What's your fav. bird?" or "My favourite bird is ____," we'll just have one thread for that topic.
Tell us what your favourite species is/are, why, and maybe even tell us a bit about the bird.

I can't choose just one...
Some of my faves are the Black Currawong, the Bataleur Eagle, the Cassowaries, and the Magpies.
Currawongs are large songbirds of Australia... I love them! But I'll bet that's old news if you're familiar with my username.
The Bataleur Eagle is native to Africa. They are renowned arial acrobats, with sort tails and broad wings. They are known to fly as far as 200 miles in one day. I love them for the above, and their striking colours.
Cassowaries are members of the rail family. I love them because of their colour and aggressiveness! They have murderous claws!
How can anyone not love Magpies? They're members of the Corvid family. I love their glossy colour and bold, intelligent personalities.

Lol Like you, Currawong, I can't choose just one.
Among my favs are the Northern Goshawk, Harris' Hawk, the Lammergeier, the Common Raven, and the Great Blue Heron.
Well, my username is Fire Goshawk. I simply adore the Northern Goshawk! They are amazing hunters, speeding through forests at speeds around 35 mph. That's freaking insane! They have a fierce, bold personality, too. heart
The Harris Hawk is an amazing and unique bird. They hunt in groups, and are the only known raptor (maybe even the only bird) to practice polyandry, where the female has more than one male mates. The Harris' Hawk is intelligent and beautiful also. The species has become quite popular in falconry, for good reason.
I like the Lammergeier mainly because of it's looks. It's specialized diet and how it gets its food is fascinating. They have stiff tongues to scoop the marrow out of bones. They'll drop bones, and often turtles, onto rocks from great heights to crack them open.
Ravens are something of an obsession for me, showing prominently in my art. The myths surrounding them in many cultures are intriguing! Their personalities are simply captivating... as is their irridescent black colour.
I love Great Blue Herons just because of how graceful and eleant they are. I often see them flying aroud the animal sanctuary I volunteer at.

Choosing one favorite bird is for losers! Or... people who can make up their minds...
Mine is a... Peacock!!!! No, just kidding. I do love to look at the feathers, though.
My favorites have always been those birds you can pretend to ride on. Those little pretend games where you can make any world you want, and can ride on ridiculously over-sized birds were always my favorite.
Mmm... I like common birds, like house sparrows and such, since they're always over-looked in favor of flashier species. Not that there's anything wrong with either one, but I think it's important to remember the birds we have a ton of. Cause that's how carrier pigeons (I'm pretty sure they're the ones) became extinct.
I also enjoy the "random birds", like flamingos and ostriches, just because they seem so... odd. Like God was feeling very creative when he made them.
