Alright... I have a story idea.
Which, for once, is NOT a fanfiction. I don't even have characters in the story I can trace to characters from shows I like. So there.
The problem?
Its starting to become a typical fantasy. Which I'm doing my best to avoid. 'Cause typical fantasy is, well, typical.
Anyways, the basic plot:
The queen has been getting very strange dreams lately. And this usually wouldn't be cause for concern. However, these dreams seem to be draining her strength. She is convinced its the work of powerful magic, and sends out five of her "loyal" subjects to help cure the problem. She's been convinced it is the cause of a magician from a neighboring country - the only one they're on bad terms with.
Meaning these five unfortunate souls are going straight into enemy territory.
And... there's other stuff I got planned. But I shan't be telling you. :3 I'm working on developing the world and characters right now. I know most of the character's places in the story as a whole.
Thing is, this isn't having any different races. It may not seem like it at first, but all of the characters are human in some form or another. The only real fantasy aspect is the fact that there's a minor form of magic.
Anyways, that's the basic idea. If you have some great thing you could add to it, go ahead and offer suggestions. If you think its the worst/most stereotypical plot you've ever heard(which it likely is) go ahead and say so. And maybe offer suggestions for improvements. Or something. I dunno.
I'll probably post more information when I feel like typing it up. Otherwise, that's all for now.

Hmm... I've felt mine's too typical, too. What I'm trying to do with mine, though, is give real depth to the characters and make it interesting. It's kind of hard, though it doesn't seem like it would be too much, but I think it'll really make a good story if pulled off well.
So, I can't give too much help, but just try to make the characters seem really, well, real. Not just like fake characters from a story-book. Like they're really there, or something xd That makes no sense, does it? Heh!

I agree with Sachi. Make the characters real. Have not only a personality, but also a past to make such a personality, etc. etc.

Hm... Still working on the characters in my head. I actually have the ideas for the five people pretty well planned out. I s'pose I'll post the character profiles at some juncture.
Oh yeah, and anyone have ideas for country names?

Gele`trino (gesh-ni-noo) perhaps. Hilphor (HILL-FOUR) sounds okay. Halnce (hahl-ns). Double vowels are long and captial letters ae pronouced like the work.

Kuro means black in Japanese, doesn't it? XP Dun think I'll be using that.
I might use Remald and/or Naiphor, though. Or a slight variation of them.

The plot reminded me of Alice in Wonderland for some reason. Of course, it could also be the fact that I was just playing Kingdom Hearts in the Wonderland realm. XD
If I had a nickle for every story that had royalty in it, I'd have soooo many nickles. XD
Well, typical of minor fantasy it may be, but it depends how you write it. If you write it well, it doesn't matter if its typical or not. Same thing with making it interesting, having well thought out characters/places, ect.
I swear, it makes me think of Alice in Wonderland! I must have some sort of issues...
And for the country name... I dunno. XD I can sometimes come up with good generic fantasy names...
OXYMORON!
... but I keep those for myself. XD

The whole deal with the queen, I think. And dreams. Because Wonderland all seems like a bad dream to me. XP
