"You all know, of course, that Hogwarts was founded over a thousand
years ago - the precise date is uncertain - by the four
greatest witches and wizards of the age. They built this castle
together, far from prying Muggle eyes, for it was an age when
magic was feared by common people, and witches and wizards suffered much persecution."-Professor Binns

Hogwarts

Since Hogwarts was founded, magical spells have been placed on the castle to prevent Muggles from finding it. However, if a muggle does find it, they will only see a ruin with a warning telling them to keep out. Hogwarts is built beside a huge lake and a dark forest. Hogwarts is speculated to be built in the Highlands of Scotland. Hogwarts is a huge seven storey castle consisting of pupils, staff, ghosts and other creatures. It is over 1000 years old and has seen many headmasters and staff.
Hogwarts is a huge enchanted castle where everything comes to life. Thee staircases at Hogwarts move to their liking and some doors will only open when asked politely. Some staircases move on different days and some consist of vanishing steps. Did you know that there are 142 staircases at Hogwarts? As stated above, Hogwarts consists of people from all walks of life and is home to many people. Hogwarts consists of 7 levels stretching from the dungeons, to top of the towers. It is not known just how big Hogwarts is, but there is speculation that the school changes to suit the amount of pupils entering the school. As we previously said, Hogwarts has been enchanted with spells so that certain things are prevented from entering. There are spells which prevent people from apparating into the school and there are spells that make muggle devices faulty and cause them to go haywire. Hogwarts has a developed a good reputation over the years and has played host to the TriWizard games. The grounds surrounding Hogwarts consists on a forest, a pumpkin patch, greenhouses, vegetable gardens, a Quidditch pitch, a lake and the Whomping Willow.

The History of Hogwarts

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was founded over 1000 years ago, by four of the greatest wizards and witches of the age. All of the founders shared a dream, and this was to bring young students into the school and train and teach them in the magical arts. Each of the founders set up a house and worked to achieve their goal. In certain textbooks and in Hogwarts, these founders are known as the Hogwarts Four.

The four houses that the four founders set up (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin) over 1000 years ago, remain to this very day. Each house is located in a different place from the others.
Below is a list of the houses and where they are located.

I thought it was near the kitchens too, but I'm not sure.

As far as I remember, the Hufflepuff Common room is near the kitchens (see books 2 and/or 3). It's only a sentence that I read in passing, though, so I don't remember it's (the sentence) exact location.

*stunned*

I was actually right? Wow! I haven't read the first two books for months (more caught up in the sixth book, reading it for the twentieth time), so I can't believe I'm actually right.

Well, gol-ly.
