My first post in this guild... Woo. o__o
For years now I have been interested in being able to perform rituals and summoning, but I have always held myself back. I wanted more information, and it seemed like whenever I found anything on these topics, I was still confused and only more frustrated than before.
How DOES one summon, evoke, and/or invoke? That's just it, I think. I don't understand. I feel...I feel as if I need someone to fricking hold my hand, because I have no idea what I need to do, in what order, what items I need, how to prepare, or how to do anything. I feel like I need a step-by-step explanation of summoning and rituals...
I feel stupid, I'm frustrated, and it makes me want to cry. Forgive me.
It would be much appreciated if you would be kind enough to help me. Thank you.

Don't jump into evocation right off, I'm going to assume your an inexperienced mage, correct me if im wrong here. Trust me, evocation isn't for the new guy on the block, you can and likely will get hurt if you aren't experienced, practise the basics for a few years, ya know simple groundings and banishing and practical spells, and meditation. Once you have been doing these things for a while, then by all means do an evocation. Just don't jump into it before you are ready.

Exactly. The power of magick isnt in doing the most powerful things you canin order to make the difference. Its in learning your limitations and broadening them. Do what you know you can do first. Then widen your spectrum.

Forgive me for offending you, I think I should have chosen my words more carefully. Really, I did not mean to snap, if that's what it seems like!! mad My goodness, this is embarrassing. Please accent my apology... (I hope this doesn't sound sarcastic.) -YuYevon

(I hope this doesn't sound sarcastic.) -YuYevon I forgive you dear, all is well once again. Good luck learning, i might even be willing to teach you now, like once you practice some more. *EDIT* I'm going to go over the posts and change them a bit, no one needs to be harassed or embarassed once they have admitted their wrong, I have forgiven her and I think that you all should as well, and we can all let this go and realise we all make mistakes wink

Ok, Ok, what exactly are we supposed to be summoning here, I'm kind of inexperienced in this department, and I want to know what exactly you hope to summon up. Also, I have heard so many lies about this kind of thing. Kids who think just because they got a few black candles and a Necronomicon think that after they whisper a few words and something gets knocked over think they summoned the great lord Cthulhu or something.
Where does the line get drawn, where do things get real, cause damnit, I havent seen anything. And believe me, I'd like a few conversations with these gents.

I'd be terribly dissapointed if the Dread Cthulhu were awakened and we were not all driven mad or (and?) consumed.

So, I am reviving an almost one month old topic with the same questions in mind as the lady who created it.
I have been wanting to try it ever since I knew about it, but my lack of confidence and experience is holding me back. I'd like to get my hand held, also. wink
Perhaps make a topic with simple rituals for beginners? I'm sure it would be appreciated.
