A young wizard living in Eonath was bored; he hasn’t been able to much work without drifting off to sleep. He was dress in an ordinary white robe, with thousands of pocket about; its base barely touching the floor. After a few note writing on his latest spell, he decided to get out having some fresh air to keep himself awake.

As he was resting under a tree, through his barely open eyes, he noticed a black figure dashing across the street till it was out of sight. It wasn’t the fact that the figure was moving in an unusual way, sort of like a jelly fish, back and forth that startled him. It was what was hanging from the waist of the shadow that caught his attention. It was a red orb that seems to have a large grin on it. But when he really stop to think what was going on, he felt he should wonder why the man was moving the oddly. After snapping back into reality, he immediately got up and started chasing.

As they turn a sharp corner, the wizard saw that the guy was gone and shining in the side of the road was the orb. He bent forward and picks it up. The menacing grin was gone, it was just a normal orb now…

But just then, it hit him. He has been reading a lot of books on this kind of orb. Rumor has it that if one was to bring it to the Magi Council; they could bring life to it. He knew immediately that he has to find the door leading to Arris.

After sometime, he was finally able to find one. He opened it and step inside it; everything happen so fast that when he look about, he was already there. The wizard starts to think, he can’t say that it was for experiments, which would be rude. But has no other choice or at least he thought he doesn’t. Just as he was fumbling about in one of his pockets, he found a piece of paper and a pen. Then it hit him, he can write a letter so he doesn’t have to talk. His hand started working and soon, he was done. This is what was written on the paper.

Quote:
“Dear Magi Council,
I found this orb when I was walking about in the street. When I first saw it, it had a menacing grin, stretching from one side to another. Perhaps it was my imagination or is it part of it personality? Perhaps like the Cheshire cat?

I would love if you could bring life to this little one. Thank you”

The wizard sticks it onto the orb and started walking. It wasn’t long till he was right in front of the tower where the higher wizards are. He took a deep breath in and entered; the place was magnificent. It was beautifully decorated with glass and marble, much like the place around the castle. Right in front of him was a large twisting and turning staircase going up, probably towards the room where the Magi Council are. The amateur started walking, always hoping he would reach soon.

After some time, he was finally at the last set of stairs. He was exhausted and his eyelids gotten heavier and heavier. Just as he step on the last step of stair, he trip on it, flinging the orb into the air and to the entrance of the room, made loud clanking as it bounces on the marble floor. He had fainted.

As the orb starts to roll forwards, the young wizard just lay there, motionless but still breathing

The room the young mage had entered was cast into darkness. A column of light filtered through a skylight above and highlighted a section on the floor where the marble broke into circular designs. The lit spot shimmered with an air of slight dust, giving the area an older feel than it probably was. The room was broken into spiraling floors, all balconies that overlooked this entryway and audience chamber. Statues and spires of white marble grew dark on the edges of this room. The atmosphere was nearly foreboding.

The red orb rolled a few more feet into the room, then without warning, suddenly shot up from the floor towards the nearest balcony. Five dark shapes had appeared, seated in a row. One stood in a fluid movement, and reached out a gloved hand into the light, accepting the orb as if sprites gently dropped lowered it. No sooner did it touch those fingers, before it held the orb back, and a shorter figure stood to accept it. White hair popped into view as the shorter figure took the orb in both hands and stepped into the column of light where the balcony overlapped it. "A Cheshire cat...." The violet-eyed mage spoke. He glanced back to the others for a moment, his scarf wrapped around his neck blowing a bit in an unnatural wind. "I have heard of a fable like this..." The Mage Ergo spoke again. Small whispers through Legia had always spoken of the Magi Council, so their names were well-known to every person who entered their cities.

"Young wizard, please stand." He continued speaking. "You have requested a creature I have not made before, so I must admit to you that it might not be quite right in the head.... is this okay with you?"

The young mage slowly open his eyes. He blinked a few times to get use to the light around him. He couldn't believe his eyes; the room around him has change into something even more magnificent. He watches from the floor as the orb shot up and voices can be heard from above.

When the voice he hear calls him, he immediately get up and dusts himself. “Thank you…” he says, giving a bow. “No body has heard of a sane Cheshire cat. So I guess it would be okay if it was insane.” His finger starts twirling, he was nervous. What if they ask him how he was going to treat his newborn? Thoughts rush into his head like a new ending river, all waiting for an answer.

A few moments later, Ergo stepped out from a spot where the staircase came down from the balcony and through a curtain below it out to where the other man was. A bit of fun was yet to be had. "Really? You would be fine with an insane Legian?" He ifted a skeptical eyebrow. "What if he were to go mad and kill you?" He was only poking fun now. Ergo tossed the creation orb up, repeatedly, as he walked. Each time he caught it with care, but the slightest slip and the mage's Legian could quite possibly be no more. "Well, you are in luck today, I've considered your request and decided to try for it."

"Let's see..." He came circling around the other mage then. "Stripes are a must.. I vaguely remember those." He smiled, a bit more comforting than when he was standing on the imposing balcony above. "A grin, naturally..." Ergo tapped his lips. "What is your name?"

Calei watched as Ergo came down. He was getting more and more fidgety, but still not very obvious. And then, the questioning starts. "Yea, I'm okay with it." Calei watches the facial expression on Ergo changes and he gave a grin. " Well, with all the stress I'm getting from work, I'll probably go mad myself and start mass murdering" He started slapping himself mentally, Calei knew he shouldn't have said that. His heart skipped a beat whenever the mage tossed the orb into the air, what if it was to fall and break?

"Oh yea, stripes and a grin is definately needed" Calei said, giving an agreeing nod everytime the mage said something. But before the mage could reply, he just suddenly dissapear, leaving a pile of bluish grey ash on the floor.
