What was your first impression of Gackt?
My first impression was...that he was ONE WEIRD guy. Like I said, I found out about Gackt because I was obsessed with Final Fantasy at the time, mainly Squall. I ended up on a website that said Squall was modeled after Gackt, and next to Squall was a extremly weird picture of Gackt...when he was in Malice Mizer. I actually thought...HOW COULD SOMEONE AS HOT AS SQUALL be MODELED AFTER HIM?
Of course at that time I was only uh...10? Or was it 12? Well whatever. I just thought that Gackt was a weirdo poser. But that was before I ever listened to his music.
Then I really got into Gackt. Of course...I still think he looks creepy in the Malice Mizer outfits...but whatever.

My first thought was "is that a girl or a guy?" sweatdrop Ok, I'm aware that Gackt-sama tends to look feminine, but you can usually tell he's a guy by his pictures but this one on the quiz results for what j-rock band you were had me guessing. Then my best friend let me listen to some solo and Malice Mizer songs. Fell in love with his voice. 3nodding
A dear friend always uses that quote from X-Play lately where they were reviewing Bujingai: "Bujingai or bujingirl?!" blaugh He's so silly, but I'm going to make him watch Moon Child when it arrives.

Hmmm, my first impression. I think I just liked his music. I hadn't seen a picture of him at first, so I just liked his music. Then I saw a picture of him, and I thought he was very handsome..... with tight pants. o_o

One of my friends had told me about Gackt before, but I didn't bother to listen to any of his music at that point. But then I was browsing a website, and I saw this picture of a really pretty naked boy. eek xd ...So yeah, that's when I sampled a few of his songs then fell in love.

I was reading an original fiction called 'Flowers of Flesh'. At the time, the author had a website up for the story, and she had made a sound track. I had heard of most of the songs and singers on the ST, because most of them were English speaking bands. A couple were Japanese bands that I had heard of, so nothing really sparked my interest. Then, I came across one chapter that had a quote at the beginning. The quote was in English, and she said it was from the st song. So I went and saw that it was a song called 'Secret Garden', artist, Gackt. To be completely honest, I thought he would be an English speaking singer. So I downloaded the song and listened to it. Now, at that time, I was a pop girl. I had never heard JRock, so when I listened to it, I HATED it! I thought it was evil! And believe me, usually, if I didt like a song the first time, I deleted it and never thought of it again. But even though the song scared me, for some reason, I left it on my computer. Then a few days later, I listened to it again. I still hated it, but I was compelled to listen to it a third time. Then, I decided I wanted to hear more! So I downloaded 'Sayonara' and 'Another World'. I was hooked. A few months later (yes, it took me a few MONTHS), I realized that I was in love with this singer, but had no idea what he looked like. So I went off in search of pics. I found one and laughed. There was no way this guy could sing the way the man I'd been listening to could sing! It was one of the bleached hair pics where he's wearing white and looking femme.But eventually, I realized that he definitely WAS the same one. Now, I never throw a song away until I've listened to it quite a few times first. ^.^ Wow, that was sooo un-necessarily long...I feel bad for anyone that actually reads it... ^.^ heart heart heart

The first time I heard Gackt sing I heard Seki-ray and I thought "Woah...That guy has a REALLY deep voice..." My sister was scared by his voice XD And I thought it was a pretty song and wanted to know more and when I went to a friends house she played Illuminati..*droool* I thought it was a cool song so we downloaded the PV... sweatdrop Well Illuminati was a...Pretty good first impression XD I loved Malice mizer Gackt and thought that he was uber hot and I still like him to this day smile

well a couple of girls from an oekaki/forum i was at were obsessed with him so i made a note in my head to listen to him...it took me an entire year to get that task finished lol...The first song i heard was Mizerable I really liked his voice and the violin(i was learning the violin and i had always liked it...my HS doesn't have a strings program crying ) then i listened to some more of his music I think it was Rain...I was like holy! is this the same person. Then I listened to Vanilla, Lust for Blood and Orenji no Taiyou(I didn't know there were two people at first cause their voices blend so well) so i listened to these songs and i fell in love with the voice. Then i looked for pictures. First one that came up was a pic of Gackt and Mana i was like isn't that the dude from that manga by Kaori Yuki(I love her so much she's my fav artist and i love her even more cause she likes Gackt lol) and then there was that cute pic of him drinking and a pic from the vanilla video and i was just like are these the same people! But even though i wasn't sure I fell in love with him cause he was so gorgeous! and thats my story about how i fell in love with Gackt and now i must get a violin so I can get as good as You! stupid highschool! Why is there no strings program!

What did your family/friends think?
My dad was like...what is this crap? [To his music.] Which pissed me off so much that I got into a fight with him, and still holds a grudge over that. sweatdrop
My mom thinks he sings nice, but that he looks weird. My mom thinks he's a gay guy since he's waaaaaaaaaay prettier than her. And since he wears make up.
My aunt and uncle were like: Ah, I see now, you like THOSE type of guys.
Me: Huh?
Them: The type of guys who wear heels and make up. You know THOSE type of guys.
Me: ...?
Some of my friends were like he's so ******** hot, the others were like he's hot, but damn, is he a girl? And the others just thought I was weird...since I thought Gackt was hot and no Justin Timberlake, or Usher...Pfft whatever. Gackt PWNS THEM ALL! domokun

ppl tend to forget the idea of sex (male/female) is different in japan. very. you can't understand if you're stucked on european/american way to think about that (I had studied japanese society)

My parents/family... know nothing of him. xp They don't really hang around me that much, they don't know what kinds of things I listen to or things like that. Hardly any of my friends know of him.. maybe a couple have heard his music. One of my friends calls any pretty guy a "she" or an "it" xp so... yeah. whee sweatdrop
