Yeah, today me and my team had a bad meet. It was our county relay meet and we were competing with another school that was evenly matched with us. The score had been really close the whole time, but when it came down to the results for the final event, we were tied, 56 to 56. The last event was triple jump (i did it that day) and i wasn't sure how we did. When they finally anounced it, they beat us by 4 inches, and we lost the meet by 2 points. 64 to 66. I really wanted to win since it was my last year, but it didn't work out that way.
Any one else have tales of woe from some of your meets?

yea how last xc season my team had a chance of making nationals and we even got 2nd place at regionals but the other teams in the nation got to go jsut because they were in tough regionals. ours was easier that year because alot of the best girls that made it harder the previous year either graduated or transferred to NCAA schools or were injured. i remember having to run 19:34 just to get 14th place the previous year but to get 11th this last year, all i had to run was 20:23.

ummm... We had this one meet in Frisco, it was so hard. The air was thinner and it was colder. To top it off the course was all hills, nonstop hills.

I think any meet where the weather is horible but they don't cancel it is prety bad. This year my team had a meet at this other school, their track was horibly soft. It felt like your feet were sinking into pillows gonk Nevertheless some people on my team actually got awesome PRs and we placed 2nd.

my first state meet.
it was indoor states and i was to run teh 4x400 relay.
i wasn't nervous until like 30 mintue before... then i i got sick feeling and terrified of the race. at one point i was sitting on the ground rocking back and forth holding my spikes close to my head. ya really scary...
i just didnt want to let the rest of the relay team down.
turns out that by the time i got the baton (i was third leg) we were already behind everyone else... so i ran by myself the entire time.
the splits were 52, 54, 54 and 54. our total time was really slow and finished last at the state meet.... sad

Its not really a tale of woe for me but for my team. Last year at a cross country meet it was all onorganized. The times on the paper didn't reflect what was going on while we were there. So everyone ran there race except for the j.v. boys. Why? becuase on the paper it said that they would run like two hours later then what they were doing. It was sad! Only half way toward the end of the j.v. boys run did everyone see that our j.v. boys missed the run. I felt so bad for them because they would've had medals!!

The worst meet(s) I've been to would have to be the Lockhart Relays. All four years we went, it was predicted to be a clear, warm day. So of course it would be around fifty degrees, rainy, and sometimes thundering. Oddly enough, the senior who graduated my freshman year told me it was like that for all of their years on the team. Cursed maybe?

Wow, I see there's been some pretty bad meets! Marmaladish, that really sucks that they missed a good race!!! I'd be really pissed. I had something like that happen to me except it was a meet that was cancelled because of the heat. It was just as hot during other races and I was at the start line and I was pumped and I had so much confidance and a feeling I was going to run well that day but then they said it was called off. ugh...oh well.
Another bad meet was when I missed regionals because I didnt wake up to my alarm clock and my parents were bein bitchy that day to me and didnt wake me up.
Yet another was regionals. Well, we all ran pretty well, but we were 2 points away from qualifying for state. it was amazing we pulled that off, but we were so dissapointed and we were like "omg I could have gotten at least one more person".

The worst xc meet would have to be the one i had last so far. It was horrible, i pulled my muscle from the previous race and I still had to run because none of the varsity girls showed up for the race and the coach had to make seven girls run so there could be a jv team. Needless to say i ran slow and I am still suffering from the injury.

If you are injured your coach should never make you run.... If you are suffering now from that race you should get alittle angry at your coach, if i was injured the day of a race i would take the day off... even if i still wanted to run, it is better to be able to run sooner than running much later... know what i mean?

yeah i definitely payed for it and I was really pissed. I couldn't run for 3 months. I'm trying to get my back into shape with nordic ski and running on the treadmill, but i've really lost a lot of my stamina and speed.

I have had a bad track meet. Well i was doing my first event the 100 yard hurdles. I was so nervous. I was a little late to the hurdles because i had to do the long jump, so i didn't get to practice, actually no one did except the home team. so the 7th graders went first as they were jumping the hurdles. Both 7th graders tripped over a seperate hurdle, it was weried at first. they had pretty big scraps that they couldn't even do the next meet. Well next it was my turn. As i was running, on the last hurdle i saw the finish line, i didn't jump high enough and just barely tipped the hurdle and tripped. i did a "superman" and hit the dirt. i tried getting up but i couldn't. i finally was helped up and got some pretty good scrapes all over. they wouldn't let me do my next event either, the mile. I found out later the hurdles were a heavy ones so even if you tipped one you would trip. A lot of people got hurt that day. so that is my worst meet.
