I think this guild needs a thread for anyone who makes their own webcomics to share their experiences, hints, sketches, ideas and suchlike.

Myself, I don't currently have a webcomic on the go, but I'm in the planning stages for one - mainly working out setting and thinking up plots.

What about you? Thinking of drawing a webcomic, or got one to promote?

I'm thinking of making one.
But they're hard to get started in terms of drawing it out.

hrm... lesse... I've done one doujinshi... that I never finished (sad thing, I only had like 3-4 more pages to go T-T;; ) but the story was ick, so I killed the comic. (not that anyone read it x,D)

uhm... I'm currently working on 2 comics...

The Mafia and Miasom (sshh, the second website isn't even finished yet, and I haven't posted about this comic anywhere else yet x3)

suggestions: for the love of your life and enjoyment of the comic, keep the characters simple.... unless you are one of those gastly people like CLAMP who can draw incredibly detailed outfits... every. single. frame. *slight twitch* +D;;;

also comics, teach you ALOT about perspective, and it's helpful to get a bit of "abstract art" knowledge (I jest you not, abstract(sp?) art will help when placing panels on the pages without leaving space out/taking away light from the climax of the page....

uhm.... another thing to remember is.... COMICS DO NOT HAVE TO BE INK!!! This is not Japan where it's mandatory to have all ink/tone pages. Expeirement(sp), have fun. and test out new ways to make comics.

..... ....... .... in order to get fans... there is no such thing as too much advertising.... within the proper places. For instance I wouldn't suggest raiding your local nursing home with your comic of blood, murder and betrayal... sweatdrop and in parallel to that, I also wouldn't go into the Life Issues forum here on Gaia and spam about your comic either. sweatdrop

uhm..... look into the big webcomics that "have made it" and see what elements they incooperated into their comics, also don't be afraid to ask creators about things. Especially the "ones who made it", even though they seem (to me at least) larger then life sometimes.... ^^;

..... I can't think of anything else right now. xD;;; uh, I'll be interested in what anyone else has to say.................. ^__^;;

EDIT: wow, that got long. 9___9

Er... well... I just usually do my comics based off of true events in my life. If I just think of something awesome and random, I'll use it too.

And for drawing and stuff, don't ask me for advice considering all of my drawings are pretty much scribbles. xd

My advice to you, is find someone really decent as a writer or an artist. Fights aren't fun. And if people are like "YOU GOTTA CG YOUR COMICS!" Just punch them in the eye. It's better the way you like it best, cuz if you start doing things people tell you to do that's not really on your mind, drawing no longer is fun, it's tedious work.

I think... that's it.

CG takes forever and bores me senseless.
I'm sticking to hand-drawn lineart. Stick a bit of shading in using Photoshop, add text on the computer, and it looks professional enough.

Exactly. I don't even shade xd but that's just me being lazy.

I do a lot of sketches for characters when I get ideas. I haven't started a web comic yet but I'm hoping to in the future. I've partially scripted one about a young girl in a mental hospital. I want to do one based on a world I'm making up as well. I've invented a couple of races and characters for it already.

I'll try and upload the sketch I did last night and post it here. It was meant to be a tyrannical queen but kind of turned into a cat creature princess. neutral I might try again tomorrow... I need a queen for my world. xD

Edit: Here it is. Not one of my best...

Me and my best mate came up with a story for the agent of C.H.R.I.S.T.
We knew there was a pope man and battle pope but we had asked this comic book guy Jamie smart if we could nick one of his characters...Dave Grohl, who now looks like this...

If we cuold use him in Agent of C. and he said yes.

YES! This totally relates to my current situation.

I've made a webcomic for a pretty long time, and right now it is ending and I'm going onto my next webcomic that will be ready in October IF i can find a WEBCOMIC ARTIST.

I can draw but i really want someone else to draw this time, and I think it'd be fun for both of us!

For more details, click on the link in my siggy. HURRAY!

Im the Author of Summoners yay for me smile but anyways, as far as tips i can offer people... don't give up its rough getting started.

Never compromise what you enjoy, and stop if it EVER becomes a burden or unfun, cause if your in it for money... good luck lol.

I wanna be an author of my own story, but I have this problem of halting halfway through. You see, I think I panic when I start thinking to myself, "Am I taking this in the right direction??" O.o I know that is utterly bogus because if I'm writing it I can take it anywhere that I want to.

I'm stuck in the mindset that I'm an artist, not a writer.

I've began trying to start webcomics again, but first I thought of a style, I chose to go with kinda basic and cartoony mixed with Anime-ish.
