This is my thread for anything that you feel fits the name of the thread: pointless pondering. I guess it's okay if it is pointy...
To start things off: myslec If you were tired and wanted something to lean on which one would you choose: a wall, which has made no promises to you, or a person that has vowed not to let you fall?

A wall, people are too squishy.

A wall.
Thought the person might commit himself completely, he may lack the foundation and strength to support you indefinitely. The wall on the other hand, though it makes no effort of any kind to keep you upright, has a sturdy foundation and is built to withstand the test of time. Furthermore, a wall will not falter, or change its mind; people are labial to do so.

Hmm, my choice was a person. I need people to comfort me and help me through. Walls are not comforting, and frankly, they're uncomfortable.

Depends on the person, if it was a friend or a particularly attractive girl then yes. If it was a random person making disturbingly heartfelt vows not to let you fall...well, you'd have reason to be suspicious.

I'm all for leaning on a person, they're much more comfortable then a wall, but if it's some random person, then no.

To continue this pointless pondering, let us ponder if pondering is indeed pointless.

Pondering can't be pointless, as long as it's pointless. If you're pondering with a point, you're doing a disservice to the actual point by being so unproductive. But if you're pondering without a point, you're actively using your brain, and thus stretching it to think about things you wouldn't normally think about.

Pondering is only pointless if you ponder about pointless subject.
Pointless: If you cloned yourself and it came out as the opposite sex, then had sex with the clone, would it be intercourse or masturbation?
Not Pointless: If you were tired and wanted something to lean on which one would you choose: a wall, which has made no promises to you, or a person that has vowed not to let you fall?
The first is just for laughs if you have a sick mind(like me!) the other is an actual question that can be symbolic of actual situations.

But, by pondering a subject that isn't pointless, you dishonor it. If it's truly symbolic and necessary, doesn't it admit more than a passing nod?

Anything could be pondered, whether for shits and giggles, or for more serious thinking, it is still pondering and pondering it is.
...I just like to say the word pondering.

Then that just leaves one question: Are you pondering what I'm pondering?
