Welcome to the Hufflepuff Common Room!

Hello and welcome to the Hufflepuff Common Room. This thread is designed for like-minded and like-personality...ed... people to get together and talk about off-topic things.

Rules!
1. Follow all Gaia Rules/TOS, as well as Guild Rules.
2. DO NOT ROLEPLAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. This is NOT a roleplay forum. This is for off-topic discussion!
3. No Slytherins, Ravenclaws or Gryffindors are allowed to post in here wink
4. Okay, this technically isn't a rule, but PLEASE don't type posts like "hello? Anyone here" because there won't be. These aren't the fastest moving of our threads and due to time differences there won't be someone here. So instead, try posting something as if there's someone there, but look for an answer the next day. It makes for more interesting discussion! biggrin

PS - LamingtonQueen drew all the mascots, so don't even THINK of stealing it, or I will SO ban you and THEN report you for art theft ninja Thanks biggrin

WOOT! I'm here and alive!!!!

Hiya everyone! I'm Mikono, known as... pretty much what ever nickname you'd like to stick on me. I'm one of those people who read the books the first time (meaning the first book. sweatdrop got it when it was behind three other books) and thought "I'm a hufflepuff." I'm also bisexual, and have a girlfriend. You may recognize me from the old guild if you were there, i talked in the common room often. My current obbsession is BJD (ball jointed dolls) and, although i have a small one and thats it, i'm in love with Homme Ducan of Dream of Doll and Ani from Luts, only i'd give her this wig, and she'd look vaugly like this and i'd call her Cerise. Ducan will cost me closer to $700 (when you add his clothing, makeup and shipping) and Cerise will cost me around $400-$450. The sad thing, however, is that i don't currently have a job, and seeing as how i'm 16, almost 17, living in San Jose, CA, i probably will have a hard time getting one although i'm doing independant studies (which means i just have to get work done, i don't have to go to class but once a week) and only taking one college class (developmental psycology). I love to sew, esspecially doll clothing and purses. I also knit and crochet, mostly scarves and hats. I love to cook and bake, though not for my family very often, because they don't appriciate it much. they just complain that its not perfect, or that they like these other cookies more. I'm the youngest of 4 children, the oldest moved out, and the others are still at home, and are twins. My uncle lives with us. just across the hall from my room, and snores at night.

And thats a little about me. whee

A kindred spirit (except for the loving to sew, the only thing I can successfully sew is buttons, everything else falls apart)! I hail from the old guild as well but I was never much active in the common room, I just popped in from time to time to say "hey". I'm hoping to be a little better from now on... sweatdrop

I'm not even kidding when I say that's the only thing I can sew! Actually that's not true. I once mended my cousin's care bear because the head was flopping off (kind of like nearly headless Nick's!) and I did a good job on that one! Except it ended up being ripped open again a few months later but that wasn't my fault!...

Well.... i've started making one, and i got a late start this year.

Normally i start my christmas crafting in the first weeks of school, but this year i'm taking my first college class and i'm in inependent studies, so i have to keep telling my self to do my highschool work too. Plus, i just got this really important test taken on saturday, which i was stressing about, since if i don't pass it i have to stay in highschool another year and a half. and i want to be in college (even though i'm still a junior in highschool, i'm ready to be gone. in fact, i was ready to be gone since i started.)

This year, since we both got a late start on them, my sister and i are doing 'shared gifts'... the cards are gonna have both of us on them, so that we can give everyone hand-made gifts. heart

Ah, I understand. I remember doing the crafts thing one Christmas for everyone. With school and trying to get gifts done it wasn't very fun. What kinds of things are you making?

I actually do better when i'm knitting/crocheting during school. it un-stresses me.

I'm making mostly scarves, one bag, a hat, simple little knit/crochet beauties. Oh, and i'm sewing a couple of felt stuffed animals.

Oooo neat! Hey I'm just wondering, do your friends ever laugh at you because you enjoy crafting? I got that alot.

Naw, i've got a pretty good set of friends.... we don't really laugh at eachother for things we really enjoy. Plus, they like being able to ask me for things like the scarf they need for their cosplay. mrgreen

Alot of my friends are, in one way or another, crafty. the ones who aren't are pretty much in awe of the knitting, crocheting, or sewing with a "I could never do that" mentality.
