I juss had to say this. what if Namco really made a Tales game where u pick your favorite Tales Characters and Battle it out in a 4 man Melee. if they really did that would be Great. instead of the Tales of the World were it is RPG. i want a Fighting One.

People would call it a SSM rip-off.

It'd have to be a two-man fight, not four. Four is pretty much always regarded as "Super Smash Bros".

I posted this in a blog sometime back, but I had the idea for not a fighting game (Mugen took that idea off my hands), but a beat'em up. Y'know, like Final Fight and those games back in the day. 'cept it would have all the Tales characters. Given the right amount of code (or time), it could even be done as a flash game, I think.

Just a thought.

*Looks at Jump Superstars*

Uh... Then what is that?

~~~
I'd prefer just one on one, because it'd be more fun. And if it existed, I'd buy it. Barbatos vs.... uh... Ami, XD.
A Japanese-only ripoff of Super Smash Bros.
HAhahahaha.
You should actually play it, it's hardly that. You fight with teams, first off, and in order to set your teams up you choose between different "pieces" that you need to fit into your rectangle-like card, nothing can extend or overlap, and some of the pieces are in very odd shapes making it hard to create the team you'd like.
As well, unless you go and blow up the walls (which takes some doing), there is no ring out, you must get your enemies down to their last breath.
But hey, it is more than one-on-one, so is EVERY fighter that is not one-on-one a Smash rip-off? Even if the gameplay is not the same? Come now, think before you speak.
I looked at snapshots. And it looked like the same basis as SSB.
It's hardly anything remotely like it.
Well it's their fault for making it look similar to me.
Not my fault in any way.
A one on one game whouldn't sound bad as a mini game, though as an actuall fighter? Something about that idea that doesn't sell. If you were to like slip a one on one game in a Tales of game, then it could be intresting. Like Suikoden did.
@Tocky Myconido: The idea of a Tales of beat em up sounds awsome. Like you can slash at hordes of enemies, use trademark tales of skills, maybe mid air combos and pop up attacks to a totall of three people in the air? That sounds really awsome. ^_^
You are all overlooking Namcos fighting masterpiece. Soul Calibur!!!
They obviously could do something in that form, featuring the Tales of characters.
Imagine, Cless beating Lloyd, again and again, and again.
Sheena could be the typical busty female fighter.
The funny irony is that you actually can make some of the Tales characters in Soul Calibur 3. I made a Cless look-a-like thanks to GameFAQs, and I gave him Sword and Shield (but he has the option of going beyond his own style and using Tempest.. yes, Seoung Mina's K+B is Tempest, and you know it).
The Lloyd look-a-like is pretty on point, too. Though the dual wielding options aren't too.. well.. Lloyd. But beyond that, they give you the option to make SC-esque Tales characters. You just have to work at the costume a bit.
..I wonder if you can make Senel.. =d
