The Story of Altera
Welcome to the Junkyard, the last known surviving city of Altera. Having turned to ruble after the impact of the Meteor Calamity, the planet Altera and its inhabitants slowly started to die. After some time and many deaths to the population of Altera, the inhabitants finally found a way to counter the poisonous gas that was released from Calamity upon its impact.
With the Construction of the Towers the cities of Altera were able to live normally, even if for a little time. You see these towers functioned as the home for the rich but also for a beckon, which released an anti toxin into the air purifying the surrounding area. Being at the center of most cities the anti toxin was able to spread over an entire city purifying the air.
However after some time it was observed that as people lived further away from the tower seemed to be getting sicker faster, so as counter measures all the still living people were moved to directly around the tower, with the people willing to pay at the closest and the people that had no money further away.
However as time went by something strange started to happen. Children were being born with the ability to push past there natural physical capabilities and achieve an amplified state for sort periods of time. As these children grew older there power only enhanced until at teenage years these individuals were able to achieve physical capabilities that far surpassed the human potential.
As they grew stronger even more possibilities were opened up were they then attained the ability to use their new strength in the form of coloured energy that could be used as projectiles, to heal others, and to direct the flow of certain things depending on the strength and control of the user.
Though these people were gifted with great power people started to fear them because of these so called gifts and started to make them outcasts one by one. Although many were cast out there still lived people who accepted, and even loved, the amps for who they were and not what they were capable off. Slowly as the normal people started bearing children of the amps, or the amps bearing normal peoples children, the unique traits given to an amp were slowly lost to the more dominant human genes.
No longer were children being born with two different coloured eyes but rather human eyes only to be changed when in amplified state. Although as these normal looking people started to experience there abilities, which now started to kick in later in life rather then from the start, the new government started to fear them for the government had grown evil and corrupt.
Fearing an insurrection led by these Amps, the government started to tamper with the normal human genes to try to replicate the Amps abilities. After failing with direct temperament, the government started to then work on technology that could be worn by their soldiers to enhance their abilities to that of the average amp. Being successful at that they found that although there was still an improvement in the soldier’s performance, enough so to rival an Amp, the amps still had more power.
Achieving this the government started to herd the Amps further out away from the tower by using their enhanced soldiers as well as by spreading rumors about the amps to the normal population that bred fear and a new hate for the amps.
Now having few connections to society amps usually live as loners, or in small groups, and only come into the towns at the base of the towers for the nessesities such as food and drink.
