All right so we hear about diets all the time, low-carb diets, low-fat diets, fluid diets, crash diets etc etc...

Diets (for weight loss) are not necessarily a good thing.

First. What is a diet? A diet is: a way of feeding; habitual food. esp. in order to control one's weight. (concise oxford dictionary)

So, in theory diets are great, but the way people use their diets is what brings them down...

For many diets, what happens is; it begins to work wonderfully and then at a point where you are reaching your goal (or maybe have already reached it) you bounce back and gain 10 or 20 pounds back to where you started. Why does this happen? Well, simply because many diets a person would be taking (i.e. low-carb, low-fat, crash, fluid, protein and such) deprives them of some kind of food. Naturally, when someone is deprived, they feel an irresistable urge to get it back. Therefore if your body is deprived of sugar, it will look for the sugar in other food that you consume, or it will make its own (which is unhealthy and leads to weight gain)

FACT--> some of the worst replacement or dietary foods you can eat are: diet peanut butter, diet softdrinks, fake sugar, and decaffinated drinks

7 signs that your diet sucks:

-fatigue
-depression
-pms(women)
-constant hunger
-binging and craving
-irratibility/angst
-mental slowdown

So my advice? Do not start a diet which involves stopping you from the food that you love. If you actually dont want to eat it anymore, then dont. But dont go looking for a diet that restricts you from it. Diets can be good, but they can also be very dangerous.

I will list a few diets and a few reasons as to why they could be bad for you.

Crash Diets-------------------------Ok, kind of obvious but I'll write it down anyway, Crash Diets are bad! Starving yourself for a few days to get down to a certain weight does not keep it off, it is not healthy and it will cause you many many problems, including every single one of the 7 signs that i listed above.

Atkins Diet---------------------------Lots of controversy surrounding it. It can work, but you will not be happy. That much protein can screw up your metabolism and etc.. Carbohydrates are important as that is where your body gets its energy from. No carbs, then your body begins to pull energy from other sources, causing the creation of other substances which are not good for your system. And, you begin to crave those yummy things like pasta and bread, which btw are not bad for you.

Low Fat diets ------------------------Low fat diets could be effective, and in fact if i had to choose between this one and the other two, i would choose a low fat. But, it's still not the best way to go. I'm still against diets so i will point out the mistakes in this diet. Firstly, a low fat diet does not cut health risks, so if your aiming for that, sorry to tell you but its not happening. And second, just cutting out fats does not account for calorie intake, sugar intake, proteins and etc. I would not recommed.

Well, thats a little info as to why diets are bad... or at least the fad ones.
My diet plan for anyone who's interested is:

Never go hungry.. Eat small meals, often. 5 times a day.

example:

toast and hard boiled egg in the morning.

an hour and a half later, have a fruit salad and some crackers,

lunchtime, have a delicious chicken sandwich

and hour or so later have some ice cream and a fruit

then for supper have a small cut of steak, a few pieces of asparagus, maybe a piece of potato and some gravy.

then have a glass of milk an hour before bed.
.......................................................................................

Eat frequently, if you have a big dinner comming up, maybe stop the snacking right after lunch, or continue and dont finish the whole meal. Just plan smart.

Remember: its ok to slip up sometimes, no big deal just keep going as if it didnt happen. dont dwell on it and drink plenty of fluids!

Also, this is just a suggested diet of mine, there is no proof of miracle weight loss, its just a way to maintain a good and healthy weight, or help bring it down..

If you dont exercise, you will not loose weight and become fit.

a lot of people have found that the key to dieting is eating more...but in smaller portions spaced out every couple of hours or so. it enhances your metabolism and that's the key to getting your body to naturally lose weight...even while you sleep! surprised

so that, plus exercising should be a nice natural (and cheaper) diet that should work for everyone (hopefully)
