Who Am I?

When someone asks the question “Who is that?” or “Who are you?” the majority of us respond with merely our names. To say that I am Alyssa Williams is not necessarily incorrect, but that is not ‘who I am’. That may be my physical identity, what is written on some dusty birth certificate or on file somewhere, but merely that does not actually give someone the idea of my inner traits, desires, or fears. So, instead of the typical response, I’ll delve a little deeper.
Hello. My name may be Alyssa Williams, but that is not who I am. I am the girl who you see staring out the window as she imagines her own miniature worlds where magical things occur every day, where the physical shackles of this planet can be unlocked so that we may be set free to explore as we can not in this realm. I’m the deliberate woman that holds her head up high and no longer looks at the ground as she walks. My feet have no longer become interesting to me, and neither are those of others, especially as they attempt to walk all over me.
I am the Lorax- I speak for the tress! Well, perhaps not, but I am the person you see picking up stray litter and refusing to toss mine casually to the wind. After seeing the damage it causes to the environment, I have learned that it is wisest to take the extra second to walk to the garbage can. Finding once that I had the tendency to begin my conversation before allowing others their chance, I have taught myself to begin with “How has your day been?” instead of my own experience.
Growing up in a family filled with boys I am the child that played in the dirt with GI Joes as well as Barbies, that while you do not start a fight you sure as hell can finish one, and that mud pies do not taste as good as apple ones. Stoves are hot to the touch just as your parents told you each and every time you got near one, and testing the stove just in case is not a bright idea even if it’s only just to make sure. Fuzzy caterpillars, potato bugs, and fireflies are lots of fun, but we must always be sure to let them go before we sleep at night so that they can be happy as well. Having put myself in their place, I can no longer kill a spider, but that doesn’t mean I no longer find them scary. It’s alright to be afraid so long as that fear does not consume you. When you persevere in the face of what you dread, you find that it is not so bad and if it still is than at least that you are strong enough to handle it.
I’ve learned that, no matter how fast you can walk, if you’ve no where to go to it has no meaning. I do not know exactly where I belong in this world or what I’ll do to get there, but I am sure that someday I am going to be somewhere. For now I am content to be here, sitting in the painted rainbows of my imagined skies, and amusing myself with your assignment.

It's pointless now, I already turned it in.
But yes, it was something I wanted peoples 'thoughts and suggestions' on.

<.< If Gler were to read that whilst not completely and utterly bored, it would make his brain implode... gonk

EDIT: But, I did read it last night. It was good, but Gler isn't a fan of all that poetic stuff.

Ooh.. I thought you wanted us to make our own essay type thing on who we are. ^^; But since you arleady turned it in.. Well anywhoo, I like the poetic-ness!! ^^ Pretty wordings, and such. It was a bit hard to read, cuz it seems quite long, but its's probably good by teacher standards. ^^;

i think it was very good overall. i dont really see this as poetic, i see this as a response I would put if my teachers ever let me do something like this. I remember i had to do an essay like that for ela only the criteria was things i like, dislike, family, and personality but do you want me to write something like that? I wouldn't mind. if i wake up at 10 tommorow no1s usually on so it would give me something to do.... please???

Wok wanted to write one too, that's why I didn't delete the topic.
By all means, you can go ahead and submit one you like yourself. I don't mind.

You should learn it sooner or later, at school; It's like a total requirement. You can't do nothing w/o being able to write essays! Do you have testings on them? I remember in 8th grade, we this graduate essay testing thing. Interpretive Essay. Oh, eww, I remember, it was about something Martin Luther King Jr. said, and if we think it's still true. Probably something the one that says we'll be nonprejudiced, and everybody will be free of racist judgements, and stuff like that.

Yaah, it was kinda confusing at that time; I just got a 3 outta 5. -_- I'd probably do better not, thank goodness..

Here we have something called "Florida Writes" which is now "FCAT writes", as well as something on the SAT.
^^' I always did well on those. I like writing.

I can see you like writing! ^^ I really admire people who can write extreemmellly well, it makes me wanna work harder and think more creatively. ^^

How long do you get for the FCATS?? Are you good at making those SAT essays, where you only get 25 minutes to think and write? ninja
