GTHB winced in pain as the townspeople dragged him across the grass by his pony-tail to the mouth of the Stone Circle. He was determined to grit his teeth and not make a sound-- he wouldn't give his former peers the satisfaction of hearing him beaten. Obviously he knew that he was not a killer, but his kinsmen obviously did not believe his initial rebuttals, and were not like to believe anything else he was to say.

"Don't bother saying anything, GTHB, we know it has to be you! You've always kept that... unnatural white pony-tail. It's a sign of the DEVIL, I say!" the ringleader of the group said, as the rest cheered. He was thrown into the crack in the stone--

--and landed on his head on the other side.

Bloom awoke, startled-- how long had he been sleeping? He picked up his head to see the face of GTHB staring at him solemnly.

"SO YOU'VE COME TO TAKE ME BACK TO THE REAL WORLD, HAVE YOU? I TOLD YOU I WAS NOT A KILLER! I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T DO IT! BUT DID YOU PEOPLE BELIEVE ME? NOOOOOOO" Ryan started yelling.

"But--" GTHB tried to break in.

"YOU PEOPLE NEVER BELIEVE ME. YOU ALWAYS THINK THAT I AM CRYING WOLF. I TOLD YOU THAT THERE'D BE MORE MURDERS BECAUSE IT WASN'T ME. I WAS RIGHT! I'M ALWAYS RIGHT! YOU PEOPLE NEVER LISTEN TO ME!"

"But--"

"IF YOU HAD JUST LISTENED TO ME IN THE FIRST PLACE IT WOULD HAVE SAVED YOU ALL A LOT OF TROUBLE. WE COULD BE LOOKING FOR THE REAL OUTLAWS. WE COULD BE DOING SOMETHING USEFUL" Ryan continued.

"BLOOM!" GTHB screamed at the top of his lungs. "LISTEN TO ME FOR ONE SECOND WILL YOU?"

"Yes, Master?" Bloom replied sarcastically.

"They put me here too. They think I did it..." GTHB whispered.

"Aye, boys, now that we've gotten that behind us, are ye like to introduce yourselves?"

Both men turned behind them, their eyes meeting that of a large man. "Come closer, let's get acquainted, and then I think I've got a tale
that's like to interest you."

Bloom and GTHB glanced at each other and shrugged, not seeing any other option, they turned grimly to the strange man, and introduced themselves.

--

After everyone was done throwing GTHB into the stone circle, Bullet Rift and a friend thought it in their best interest to take a trip into town and procure better protection.

"I know the perfect protection-- it's a new invention, you know" Rift said to his companion. "Bullet. Proof. Vests. That would be the PERFECT thing to protect from any future attacks!"

Rift grinned to himself as he was sure that as soon as he had obtained one of these new bits of armor, that he would be infinitely safe from whatever gunshot might come his way. The two entered the shop and quickly chose which vests they wanted. Rift knew that he'd sleep easier that night with his new armor on, and the peace of that notion was worth the massive amounts of gold he had spent on it.

After having a few drinks and watching some dancers at the local pub, the two friends split up, each wanting to get back to their homes before it got TOO dark.

Walking leisurely, inebriated, and ultimately TOO confident-- Rift never stopped to wonder how on earth he was going to protect his *head* from a gunshot.

::BLAM::

Rift had been sniped and was left in the streets to rot throughout the night, until the sight of his decaying body graced the eyes of the city's occupants with the dawn's light.

--

More often than not, Scelero had found himself wasting the days away in his room, reading books of adventure, fantasy, and bravery. Ever since he was a boy, Scelero had always dreamed of going out on a quest-- something that would change the world-- which was why he was very excited when a strange letter came to him in the post that morning.

There didn't seem to be anything odd about the letter, at first-- it was the same size as any other letter, travel-worn and laden with dust, but the one thing that interested him was that the letter was sealed with the initials "CK", and he didn't know anyone with those particular initials.

After debating whether to open it or not for about 15 minutes, Scelero gave in to temptation and ripped the letter open, reading it quickly, an expression of sheer delight overcoming his face with every passing line.

The letter read:

"Hello there, my dear boy. I have heard about you from the locals, and I know that you are deeply interested in adventure. I have a proposition for you. I am old, and not as swift as I used to be. Someone has kidnapped my daughter and is holding her ransom in a cave just beyond the village. I need help in rescuing her, as I wish not to pay my hard earned gold to a few vile fiends. If you will meet me after dark at the city gates, I will lead you to the cave so that you may ambush my daughter's captors in the night, while they least expect it. If you succeed in this task, I will pay you half of what the ransom asked for-- 50,000 gold. Not only this, but you will build trust with the citizens our town-- and as you know, heroic is greatly needed in times like these, so perhaps you will be asked to perform even greater tasks than the one I have asked of you. If you accept-- meet me at the gates tonight, at midnight.

CK"

Scelero was beside himself with happiness. His first real quest! For the rest of the day, he prepared himself for his coming adventure, as night quickly fell.

At precisely midnight, Scelero met the writer of the note at the gates, and the mysterious person led him to the cave with a series of hand-signals. When they arrived, Scelero peered into the opening-- he could see some light. Candlelight, perhaps? He readied his sword, but as he was about to storm in to save the poor lassie who had been stolen, he felt something blunt hit his head, and then blacked out.

The next thing he felt was red hot pain, searing his toes. Snapping his eyes open he howled in pain, as he realized he was being burnt alive, the cloaked figure who had led him here stood in front of him-- and slowly lowered the hood.

"You wanted adventure, did you not? Sometimes, in your pursuit to be the hero, there will not always be a hero to save YOU, my boy."

The unknown person turned around, and walked quietly out of the cave, Scelero still screaming as his flesh melted from his body.

--

GTHB has been jailed, Bullet Rift has been Sniped, and Scelero has been Killed.
