Is it just me or do most German bands' vocals sound alike? What I mean is they're low and kinda raspy. Is it because of them singing in German, or what? I know not all sound alike but many of the German bands I know sound this way.

*shrug* well the German language is a bit more harsher sounding than the rest of the other languages like Spanish and French but maybe it's just a German man thing with the gruff voices....but i love German men xd

Hm.. I guess.. but if you listen, all American rock bands basically sound the same..

Dero Goi's (OOMPH!) voice isn't too low, neither is Christoph Schmidtt's (Lacrimas Profundere)...but I think it's just a result of the German language. And Hero Propaganda has a point. 3nodding

Hero Propaganda Hm.. I guess.. but if you listen, all American rock bands basically sound the same.. Yeah, but the only ones (to me) that sound the same are ones like Fall Out Boy, MCR, Panic! At The Disco, etc.

I think you're wrong, because I know enough German bands where the vocals sound so different. 4laugh
But I am German so I think it's possible that I might know some more bands than you. sweatdrop

Well, the vocals aren't all alike. It's in fact pretty hard to find some men on the street here who's voices sound harsh or dark or anything.
Those people just like to sing, I guess.

I think you're wrong, because I know enough German bands where the vocals sound so different. 4laugh But I am German so I think it's possible that I might know some more bands than you. sweatdrop Well its probably just because of the genre of music the bands are playing. I didn't mean all German bands. That would be too big of a generalization.

It's not the sound of the singers voices as it is the way they sing, because they go for that harsh effect, which is awesome.
