As the last teacher entered the grand hall she quickly pulled the large wooden doors shut behind her then hurried over to the others.

"They should be here soon." Headmaster Seolo said in a gruff tone as he motioned for his colleagues to prepare themselves.

"What are they coming for?" A dwarven teacher asked while yanking out his axe.

"I'm not sure...they just said it was impor-" Seolo began then stopped when the candles suddenly flickered and died out, high speed winds filling the room.

As the staff of Recolo Maiestas University prepared themselves for a battle the very shadows of the monstrous room began to pull towards the middle of the hall and form wavering beings.

"Welcome to Recolo Maiestas!" Seolo boomed, stepping forward cautiously as a sign of friendliness.

"We don't need your pathetic greetings old man..." A hiss came from one of the shadows, another shadow beginning to form just infront of the four shadow beings.

Within moments the new shadow had formed, the shadow dispersing to show a young woman who crumpled to the ground as soon as the shadows released her.

"Who is this?!" One of the teachers growled, looking at the girl as if she was some horrible being.

"Her name is Ea...She needs your protection." Another shadow whispered before nodding to the others.

Before any of the teachers could react the shadows dispersed and left the hall lit and peaceful as if they had never come, not even a whisper of the torential winds left behind.

Everyone looked around while adjusting their clothes and hair then looked back to the woman left on the floor. She looked so fragile, her dark brown hair flowing about her to cover her bare chest.

"Miss...?" Headmaster Seolo asked in a gentle tone as he started towards her.

She looked up with bright amber eyes filled with fear, pulling back so that he couldn't touch her. Get away from me! a wind blew just loud enough for all in the room to hear.

They looked around then back at the girl. "Why do you need protection?!" An Elven teacher declared hatefully.

Seolo looked back with a stern glare before turning back to Ea. "Why are you not dressed?" He asked while continuing to stand a safe distance from the girl.

There would be no point She answered coldly while she stood up, the wind continuing to be her words.

"Why do you not speak?" A centaurian asked, stepping forward and takin in her form.

I have no voice the breeze answered once more.

"Why don't you just tell us why you're here?" someone else chimed.

They said you could protect me...

"From what?" Seolo asked.

the Fae of the light... she answered, reaching up and pulling aside her hair to show them her mark.

"Thaurer Nwalmear," The headmaster looked over paperwork, reading the girl's name outloud who sat in front of him. She had taken off her hood to reveal pale features, long black hair and a black cloth covering her eyes. "Your papers seem to be in order and you've met the requirements."

The girl nodded. "Sir, if I may, I have one request."

"Yes, speak," The headmaster nodded, a formed habit, one he repeated even though the woman could not see.

"While I stay here, I would prefer my name to be Ita'istar, not Thaurer." The girl waited patiently, her hands folded in her lap. She was a half elf, her name a symbol of a birth she had no control over. Her request hid the fact, changing her first name from naming her an abominable creation to an illusionist. It was a small request, easy enough to fullfill.

After a few moments Seolo nodded. "I will allow it, for a time."

The girl tilted her head slightly, as though to catch his words better when he spoke the last. She paused a moment, then nodded.
"Thank you Headmaster," She bowed her head to him. "If all is in order, may I gather my things?"

The Headmaster smirked at her forwardness. "Yes, I'll have one of the teachers escort you."

She nodded and stood, slipping the strap to the small bag beside her over her shoulder and taking a step to the side. Turning toward where she had entered she clapped her hands, finding the open doorway and the teacher standing just outside. She strode forward, pulling her hood over her head to hide her impeded sight.

"Come my dear," The woman smiled, Ita could hear it in her voice. "Lets get you settled in."

Ita smiled, her features warm and welcoming. "Thank you my lady," She bowed, allowing the woman to carry her suitcase. She clapped her hands, following along beside the woman, who gave her enough room to keep her pathway clear.

Good lord I thought they would never leave me alone! Ea growled within her mind. The last few months it had been the same thing everday "You must be careful...we've put up spells so they won't find you however...when the students get here be careful and go to class like a normal teenager..." blah blah blah...

The school was gorgeous, a giant castle perched atop a high hill and surrounded by forests and natural beauty. Students had started arriving a few days before and were now settling in...rushing around to their spell-casting classes, potions, herbology, etc. while getting used to having other species around them.

It was an ingenius idea as far as schools went, a place for all the major species to go and learn about each other while learning how to handle their various powers. Although, it was somewhat dangerous to be housing enemies in one spot.

"Welcome to Herbology." Mrs. Camble greeted, a gorgeous Centaurian woman with long red curls and a honey colored horse body. "You should already have your texts. Please be seated and turn to the first chapter." she boomed, looking at all of her new students with warmth.

"Your kidding me! A centaurian teaching herbology?! what is with that! Shouldn't she be teaching masonry?" One young man joked to his friend, both of them elven youths.

"Yes. I DO tend to love brick and metal...but the earth and herbs are far more important. But...an Elf I'm sure you knew that already." She replied with a sweet smile.

Ea looked at the two boys prickling up then took her seat, a small smirk hidden behind her deep hood. The staff had clothed her quickly enough...her bare body too inappropriate for a school seetting.

Ita walked through the door to her first class, her hood drawn over her face, enough to cover the delicate cloth around her eyes. She snapped her fingers, waiting for the revirbrations. She could 'see' four or five students already in the room. There was an immensely large table taking up most of the room with roughly around 10 to 12 seats around it. The teacher sat at the frontal position of the stone tabe, a small woman, most likely a dwarf considering she had a beard. One thing that would always amaze her about the dwarves, besides the fact that they could grow facial hair, was the fact that their women looked so much like their men. Being of elven background, she was certainly not used to that at all.

She snapped her fingners again, finding an empty seat toward the far side of the room where few people would need to get by her and sat down. Putting her hands to the table she found a carving in the stone before her. Some sort of enchantment circle she was certain, considering the class.

Finally the little dwarven teacher stood, barely any taller than she had been sitting down, after all the students had entered and class had begun.

"This is one of the many enchantment classes offered here at Recolo Maiestas," The dwarven woman spoke gruffly, her voice harsh though Ita was certain it wasn't intended. "I am Gihmat and I will be teaching this class. Any questions? Any desired schedule changes?" Before anyone could reply she clapped her hands loudly, "Great! Lets get started!" A large smile spread across her features as she reached forward to grab a book and a small stone trinket from before her. "Lets begin!" She touched one hand to the book and rubbed the trinket.

The symbol in front of Ita seemed to be shifting, creating something. She jerked her hands away as a book appeared. She reached out her hands again, her fingertips grazing the binding and front cover. She could hear the students flipping through thier books and expressing thier excitement in seeing the first enchantment of the class, marking the beginning of the first year.

Ita smiled, openning the book and holding her hand above it. She snapped her fingers, looking closely at the pages. The words became clear for an instant and she smiled, pulling her hood down.

Gihmat looked over at her, at first thinking the girl rude and ready to give her a gruff retort for being loud in class unnecissarily. Then she noticed the cloth around her eyes and stopped, watching her a moment as she snapped again. Satisfied, she looked away, ready to begin class.

Ea sat near the back of the class, still as a statue while she read her herb book. "Before we begin working with any of the plants I want you to learn about them." Mrs. Camble boomed as she took a seat behind her large wooden desk.

"The first plant we will be looking at is Comfrey." She announced, waving her hand to turn to that page in the book.

The rest of the class followed suite, immediately turning to the page where Comfrey was found. Ea looked through the text book slowly as she skimmed the different herbs.

"Would you hurry up!" A girl in at the front of the class growled when she realized Mrs. Camble was waiting for Ea to find the right page.

Ea didn't even looked up...she just continued to flip casually through the large book until she found the desired page. After a few moments Mrs. Camble nodded her head in approval then began her lesson.

"what is wrong with that girl? I mean HONESTLY you'ld think she'ld try to be less freaky..." Someone wrote on a piece of paper, passing it around the classroom until it finally landed on Ea's table.

She slowly unfolded it, reading through the nasty comments everyone in the class had made about her. Without so much as a glance upwords she reached out her slender arm, still coverd with her robes and crushed the piece of paper in her frail hand before letting it fall to the ground casually.

"Now class...I want you to go to your dormrooms and research about Comfrey and each of you should return to my class tomorrow with a five hundred word essay about the magical properties it has and it's main uses. Then, once I have graded them and am satisfied that you know how to use it, we will travel into the neighboring forests to gather some." Mrs. Camble finished, looking at the piece of paper with disgust.

"And Ms. Ea...would you please pick up your trash before you leave my class." She finished sweetly before returning to behind her desk.

As she leaned down to pick up the paper many of the students walked by, looking down at her as if she was a complete freak of nature.

As class continued the students were given the basics. Each were given a list of enchantments and pages to find which stones went with which incantation. All basic enchantments meant to teach principals, nothing more.

Ita smiled, carefully going over each page, touching the pictures when she could see them that way, snapping her fingers when she could not. Finally class adjourned and the students were set free. Ita remained at her desk, snapping her fingers to see the pages, still enthrawled with the written words.

One girl walked up to her, touching her shoulder lightly. Ita jerked her cloaked eyes toward the girl, snapping her fingers again in front of the stranger as she did so. A fairly tall student, dressed in casual clothing and slightly quizical.

"Um, I was noticing the way you read your book..." The girl stuttered slightly, shuffling her feet. "If you need it, my friends and I would be happy to help you..."

Ita smiled slightly, almost sadly, then her smile spread into a large grin that seemed to light up her features entirely.

"I can normally read the books just fine, and the print is high enough for me to decifer it, but I would love to have someone in the class to help me study a bit!" Ita held out her hand. "My name's Ita'Istar, but most people call me Ita." Her pointed ears twitched slightly as the girl before her shifted her books to allow herself the free arm to shake Ita's hand.

"Name's Morgan," Morgan smiled. "Pleased to meet you."

"As I'm sure you both realise, your next classes should be starting soon," Gihmat shook her bearded head at the two girls. "You should talk while moving..."

Ita stood, grabbing up her things quickly. "Oh! Yes, thank you ma'am!" She bowed to the dwarf, then headed quickly out of the class, snapping the fingers of her free hand to see her way. In the halls, the noise from the students caused her to hault in her tracks. Were it silent, it would be easier for her to navigate. However, with all the voices, she was 'seeing' everything bounced off in a hundred directions.

"Um, do you need some help?" Morgan watched Ita's smile fade.

"Actually... Could you tell me where my next class is?" Ita offered Morgan a small smile. "There's just a lot of noise and I can't concentrate it to where I can read..."

"Sure! It's no problem!" Morgan took hold of the paper and read it aloud. "Hall seven, should be third door on the left... Can you make it there alright?"

"Oh yea, I'll be fine!" Ita smiled. "Hurry or you'll be late to your own class! It was wonderful meeting you, and thank you again for the invitation!"

"No problem! See you around!" The girl waved just as Ita raised her hand to do the same. Once she was certain the woman was gone, Ita sighed, turning to the croud.

"Hall Seven... You must be joking..." She took a breath and headed into the croud, reaching out with one hand to navigate her way. As she made her way down the hallway, someone bumped into her side, setting her off balance and knocking her into another student, who oddly enough felt like a large rug. "Oh!" Ita clutched her books, refusing to drop them. Luckily, the person she'd hit had a sturdy build and didn't fall over, the solid stature even preventing her own fall.

"I'm sorry!" She stood on her own again quickly. "I didn't hurt you did I?"

"Hurt me? You barely touched me!" She heard the male voice boom. "You look like you're having some trouble... Where are you headed?"

"Um... Hall seven, third door on the left," Ita replied.

"Good! I'm headed by that way too!" By now she'd recognized the voice as a minotaur. That would explain all the fur she'd hit. "Come on, feather foot, I'll take you by your class." Before she could object he swept her up off her feet as though she weighed no more than an ounce and headed off down the hallway toward the class. Once there, he deposited her into a desk and took one of his own near hers. "There, that was easy." He grinned.

Ita, once seated, dropped her books down onto the table top. She'd never been through a crowd that fast before and she felt a little frazzled having been carried through it instead of lead as she normally was. "Yes... uh, quite..." She took a breath to help gather her bearings and tightenned the cloth over her eyes. "Uh, thank you, by the way."

"Hey, no problem!" The minotaur leaned back in his chair, causing it to squeak, and pop, threating to break. He didn't seem worried, instead he simply settled and got comfortable, waiting for class to begin.

After all the students had filed out Ea stood up, the crumpled piece of paper clutched in her hand. "Ms. Ea, would you come speak with me for just a moment." Mrs. Camble called as Ea began towards the door.

Ea stopped in her tracks and slowly turned around then made her way up to the front of the classroom. "I think you should try to be a little warmer with the other students..." Mrs. Camble said with a troubled sigh. "It might be helpful if you used your powers."

"I understand why you don't want to...but you are safe here." She breathed then turned and handed her a small leather-bound book.

Ea looked up at her through her hood, reaching out to take the book. "This is a book about Comfrey...it might help to heal your vocal cords a little faster." Mrs. Camble whispered then looked up as new students began to file in. "Now I expect you to be a little more respectful in my class next time I see you." She declared in a threatening tone while pointing to the trash can next to her desk. "Passing notes it's completely unexceptable!"

Ea nodded then tossed the note in the trash pale. With an unheard sigh she turned and left the class as quickly as she could. Comfrey hmm? that's a good idea... She thought as she weaved through the hourds of people.

With a small movement she hid the book in the folds of her robes then pulled out her schedule. Hall seven?...oh right...She quickened her pace, knowing she would be late and not wanting to upset the teacher...especially since he was one of the teachers opposed to her being there in the first place. She almost laughed at the thought of him. She had remembered the first time she had met him while wandering around. He had been amiable enough...but only enough so as not to be completely cold.

Just as class was about to start she made it in, getting a small glare from the professor. Without looking around too much she took a seat at a table behind a large Minatour, hoping that he might hide her from the glare Mr. Stevens was giving her.

She rearranged her robes once she was seated then looked up and around to scan the class, something she had learned to do ever since she had escaped. Her paranoia had lessened since she had arrived...feeling safe within the compounds of the school. Still...no matter how safe she felt she continued to feel the need to assess any threats around her.

Once she was satisfied that no one was planning on harming her she pulled out her small bag to retrieve her new text book. As the Minatour in front of her readjusted the chair popped, threatening to break and leave him on her table. PLEASE let that chair be strong...she thought as her amber eyes drifted up to his horns.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 04, 2006 7:45 am

As the chair continued to crack and pop with the minotaur's settling, Ita turned to grin at him. She'd pulled her hood over her head again to cover the cloth on her eyes. Her nose and mouth were still easily seen.

"I'd imagine that chair will break if you're not too careful," She almost giggled but refrained herself.

"Break? You're kidding! These things are sturdier than the strongest warhammer!" He grinned, slamming his fist down on the front of his desk.

Ita jumped, but didn't hear the table break. Her jaw dropped slightly.

"The tables are enchanted then?" She moved her fingers across her own table, feeling the structure.

"Oh yea! They'd have to be considering-"

"-Considering that class has begun and talking has ceased," Mr. Stevens glared down at Ita and the minotaur. Once he was satisfied that no one would speak, he gave a small nod and stood from his desk. "My name is Mr. Stevens and class has begun. You will be learning some offensive spells in this class, and as a result a few defensive as well. Try not to play around, I'd hate to have you miss class time just for a clinic visit."

Ita turned her head slightly, not certain she'd heard the teacher right. Considering his attitude, she wasn't so sure she'd like this class at all...

"Textbooks," Mr. Stevens pointed both hands, fingertips outstretched, toward the stack of books behind his desk. Some of the books began to shake and move, lifting off the ground when he moved his hands toward the students. One book glided down to land on each desk a student sat at. Ita felt it on the back of her hands and quickly moved so it could rest on the table. Once it had been set down she moved her fingertips across it, feeling the indention on the cover.

"Open your books to chapter one," Mr. Stevens turned, grabbing up his own book. "Skip the introduction, I'll expect you to read that tonight in its entirety.

Ita openned the book and snapped her fingers above it. Her lips peirced and she snapped again. She flipped a few pages in and repeated the gesture, then flipped to the center and snapped agian above the pages. Still nothing. Sighing slightly, she clapped her hands over the book, able to decifer a few sketchy letters. She clapped again, louder, but still she could barely 'see' enough to read the first line. She flipped to the front of the book and clapped again, finally able to find chapter one after a few more issues with the ink on the page. It was too flat, almost as if the words had been enchanted on the page, fusing with the actual paper on which it was written.

Mr. Stevens frowned. He'd seen the cloth covering the girl's eyes. "Ms. Nwalmear." Ita tensed, not liking her last name at all. She froze, listening. "I would prefer that you do not make such a racket in my class. If you require assistance, I will partner you with someone who can see the text."

Ita hesitated, then nodded, "Yes sir, my appologies."

The clapping had vexed Ea, dragging her out of her thoughts as she had begun to read her text. Within the realms of her mind she screamed in frustration as her amber became brighter because of her anger. Yes! Find someone who will read it to you! She growled angrily to herself, rethinking it and realizing that she would have to deal with someone else talking and interupting her constantly.

...This class is going to be LOTS of fun...she thought to herself sarcastically while she turned back to the book. But...at least offensive spells will be useful... she continued. The book was interesting enough...it was filled with all sorts of spells she could work at learning in case of an emergency.

Heavy footsteps rang throughout the corridors Just outside the doors to the classroom. A figure slid into view just outside the glazed window. The glass and wood suddenly began to gain a small sheet of ice over it and as the door opened a person came through the door. The person was in a full leather outfit, the eyes covered by shaded goggles. On the back of the person's leather coat was a large image of a lightning bolt, frozen over. The person stood over seven feet tall. The person went to Mr. Stevens's desk and rolled out a scroll for him describing why he was late.

STUDENT HAS BEEN PARDONED FROM ABSENSE DUE TO VEHICULAR PROBLEMS.

NAME: Dagoth Urith

Dagoth nodded to the teacher, "Sorry for my tardiness, sir."

Dagoth's body exuded a large amount of cold air - the things around him slowly became frosty. His clothes seemed almost covered with ice. He was a Half breed. Half Draconian, Half Ice elemental. His father's genes were the stronger of the two as displayed by the ice that followed his every step. He had the nickname around the school of 'Ice Dragon'. Though he wasn't anything of the sort. Had his mother's genes been the more dominant of the two, he'd be ten times his size. Even though he was already large. He stood there waiting fro the teacher's instructions on what he should do next.

Off a few seats from the minotaur and elven girl who had come in, sat another odd student. Silent, she sat and observed, not unlike a statue.
Different of course than the rest of the students, she was a rarer species.

While humaniod, she had a few unique changes to her form. Her face was strong, bone structure seemingly build for toughness and battles, as was the rest of her body. Her ears were more fin-shaped rather than pointed. Small bumps protuded from her forehead, the beginnings of horns. Most noticbly; however, were her wings. Folded back behind her, they are leathery and a deep violet color.

Once the newcomer came in late; however, she stirred in her chair to get a glimpse. As she turned, once could see her pupils, slitted like a cat's and a brilliant and firey emerald green. Her long and feathery hair flowed behind her, in deep auburn waves.

Curiousity quenched, she turned back, leaning in her seat to listen to this uptight teacher's reaction. Lazily, she picked at her silly nametag someone had wished her to wear. As she played with the plastic, the name "Lorelei" flashed with the light in the classroom.

((Ok, I'm only gonna put Ita in red, black lettering on my posts will be NPC))

Ita looked up when she heard the footsteps, as the door openned she could 'see' the ice forming where she knew the door was. She snapped her fingers and the aura became visible for an instant. She tilted her head as the person came in. His footfalls created enough noise for her to gather his features, and it illuminated his aura as well.

The sound of ice cracking, however, caused her to turn to look at her desk. At what she guessed to be the edge of her desk, she could see something forming.

Slowly reaching out her hands, she touched the ice, wiping it from her desk and holding it in her hand until it melted. She smiled, then listenned beside her where she knew the minotaur who had carried her in would be.

"Hmph..." The minotaur sized up the new arrival. At first, he didn't seem overly impressed. Size meant nothing toward skill. Until he saw the boys strengths and weaknesses he refused to consider him better simply because he could change the temperature. Still, he seemed respectful...

Ita kept her smile and shook her head slightly.

Mr. Stevens looked the note over, at first not believing it a moment. Then, seeing the respectful attitude he shrugged it off a bit, pushing the note aside and pointing to a textbook, which in turn lifted off the stack and moved toward Dagoth.

"Find a seat Mr. Urith," Mr. Stevens turned back to the book. "Class has already begun at Chapter one."

He bowed slightly to the Minotaur and took the book as his head rose back up. He turned to look for a seat. As usual he found a seat at the front. So he sat - directly infront of the teacher. As soon as he sat the tempature in the room dropped to fifty degrees. The closer you got to Dagoth the colder it would be. The desk didn't seem to like Dagoth - as most things that he sat at did - The ice that was forming in each crevas and imperfection of the wood and metal. The ice began to expand and soon the desk was held up only by the ice. Chunks of metal and wood were glued together by the frozen water, When Dagoth gets up from this seat - its sure to fall apart into a big puddle of shards.

He turned the pages of the book - his very touch making the whole reading experience quite difficult - especially through his shaded goggles. He decided to take them off so he might stand a chance in reading what information this book could give him. As soon as it came off, his icy blue eyes gave the room a slight blue tint of color. His skin glowed with the unnatural ice that covered the known Ice elementals.

He could read it atleast. He was expecting complaints so he started to zone as quickly as he could.

Ita heard him sit in the front row, somewhere near her. She was certain he was near, she could feel the ice still on her desk and she pulled her robe around her more. Still, where the ice gathered on the book it did nothing more than hinder her reading even more. She snapped her fingers and made out nothing more than a crystal pattern. Sighing, she eased back in her chair and contented herself to listening to the lecture, or whatever would be happening in the class.

At least the cloth covering her eyes also helped to keep her ears slightly warm. She pulled the cloth down so it would cover at least the pointed tips of her ears. That would help a little. Keeping her small smile, she reached out her hand to touch the ice crystal patter across her page, not wanting to close the book incase it melted and ruined several pages, or simply ruined the pattern sooner than it had to be.

Just before he could zone - he heard several clicks coming from behind him. He rolled his eyes and turned - assuming that it was somone trying to get his attention. Then he saw that it was a girl.

"Yes, miss? Did you need something?" He whispered softly - trying to to disturb the class. He felt a little guilty for making such a small girl feel so cold, "I could sit elsewhere if you wish."
