Right. So I'm a sabre fencer, ne? But my coach has me doing some foil in an upcoming tournament(Prescot Open^^; ). I have never fenced foil in my life. Any advice would be greatly appreciated^^ I took two years of epee, so maybe that will help me.. sweatdrop

I'm a sabre fencer as well... but for foil... erg. I don't usually fence it. Be fast, remember you can cross over and parry. *tap go* Hopefully a real foilist will come and give you tips though sweatdrop

i fence both saber and foil..so... you should probably practice accuracey. get used to the target area. since the pary repost rules are alot alike, that shouldnt be too hard to get used to.

Straight arm. 3nodding Very important.
Since if both hit at once only one can get the point. If your hand is straight, and the opponents isn't, you'll get the point.
I find myself taking lots of points at the repost.
I dunoo. Do your best.

you just have to remember that the tip is where you score and that the blade is just for parrying pretty much...

I'm a foilist, if you have fast footwork, do remise. If not, the feint, beat, touch. (Doesn't help mmuch does it.)

Remember to keep your arm low! No not give that sabre reaction to parry above your head when someone comes near. Don't cut of try to hit the arms. Keep your eyes on the opponements body and when you see an opening, strike very fast. And remember to get in defense pose as quickly as you can, foil is a lot faster than sabre.

Have you ever seen a good sabre match? Foil is slooooow compared to sabre... of course, maybe I've never seen a good foil match ninja

And I've seen many sabre matches, and practice it for over two years.

Sabre has faster footwork, Foil has faster bladework, in a good foil bout (Like mine of course cool ) you can barely see the small movements. But I watched Kieth Smart fence once, he is like lightning, followed by the natural thunder.
