Ok, I read in a magazine that Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow) has decided to give up acting. WHY! Once more, It fits in with the end of Dead Mans Chest. Please someone... tell me its not true. -cries- Johnny Depp is my favourite actor of all time.

What magazine? Are you sure it wasn't sarcasm?
Just the other day I was listening to a podcast, and Johnny said he was up for a Pirates 4, 5, and 6. I recommend re-checking your sources...
Because if it is true a little part of me will just... crumble away... and die. cry

Looks like he's planning to retire at 50. He's only 43 now, so we're good. ^^ Besides, I know it's nearly impossible to believe, but he won't be as amazingly lovely as he is now when he reaches 50 anyway.
You can rest easy. ^^

cant be true. one, people pay just to see him in that movie, and two, it would be one of the worst decisions in his late career, and three, you'd think he'd end at least with a third movie and make it a really good one to end his career with a memorable movie. dont worry, he will finish the pirates series

I worked in Spencer Gifts for a time, and was talking to a customer about the Pirates of the Caribbean action figures we had one day. Turns out the man I speaking to, was in Bermuda on vacation when they were filming part three, and he was an extra in it. This was around February 2006, well before even the 2nd one came out in theaters. This guy was really cool, and he said Johnny Depp was awesome, and very nice, and that part three was already almost completely filmed at that point. He was also angry at Disney, since they would not give him or his family anything from the movie he was in, no pictures, no t-shirt, nothing. He believed part three would be out this Winter, I knew better. Disney is going to milk it until next year, but don't fret, at least the trilogy is complete, and there won't be any question of that. As for further movies, I have no idea!

Why would he leave, at the end of POTC2 they were going after a way to save Jack, sooooo thats impossible that he has given up.
Unless..... someone else will play Jack? highly unlikely pirate

PotC 2 and PotC 3 were filmed at the same time. The same way Peter Jackson did Lord of the Rings.

I would not start worrying now, seven years can be a long time and a lot of things can happen~
There are many stars who said "This will be my last movie" and stuff like that... and most of them had a comeback earlier or later x3
And... like some of you already said, part three is sheduled for 25 th May 2007 here in Germany, so you can expect the movie around 2 weeks earlier~
AND (minor) SPOILER ^.~ (but who hasn't already read about it or guessed it?)
Part of an early draft of the script of PotC 3 leaked out in the internet and Jack'll really come back, so no worries ^^
