Pretty Face | by Kano Yasuhiro
Category: Shounen / Romance.Comedy
Rating: I’d recommend it for ages 15+. Some sexual references (it’s light).
Scanlation group: Akatsuki Manga
Intro: Randoh is a karate fanatic and Japan’s national champion.
In outlook, he seems to be a gangster-like character that is always a
troublemaker in school. What others don’t realise is that he has a
secret crush on Rina Kurimi - a cute girl who seems to be the total
]opposite of him. Sweet, smart and oh so cute. Fate twists Randoh’s
life one day after being crowned the National Champion while he was
riding the same bus as Rina. Unexpectedly, the bus got into a big motor
accident resulting in Randoh falling into a coma for up to a year. When
he wakes up, he meets a rather mad doctor and is told that his face
had been ‘re-structured’ after being severely burned in the accident.
One look in the mirror and his life falls from the sky – he had the face
of Rina Kurimi. What was the reason? It was the only photo that the
doctor could take a hold of from his burn body. Then fate twists again,
while searching for a photo of his old self he learns that his real family
had thought him dead and moved house and then he comes face to face
with Rina Kurimi – who then hugs him greeting him as her older twin sister!

The Upside
‘Pretty Face’ is one of my all time favourites. Some of the chapters in
this story are so damn funny. I liked the plotline, characters and well,
basically everything. Although aimed for the male audience, it is very
readable for the female audience as well. Whoever I have recommended
this manga to has seemed to enjoy it – trust me, it’s worth giving this
one a shot.

The Downside
There should be more chapters… or not, may ruin the story, you know
how sequels tend to be in comparison to their predecessors.
