The Basics
Description is always a big WELCOME! And if you think about it, theres tons of things you can include in one post to make the difference between boring and estatic! For example, the best thing you can do is to imagine yourself in the shoes of the character your using. Visualize what that person sees and write it down, what is he/she feeling inside? Are they exhausted? Are they injured? If so what kind of injury and whats happening to it, has it been tended to? Is the injury casuing any disability? Whats the other person saying? and whats the reaction your character get from it? How is the weather and the terrain your in? Whats it like being there? Cold, hot, humid, slippery? What just happened? did the cannonball narrowly missed your head and smashed a building to rubbles? What kind of character is your opponent and how does your character see him/her? intimidating? scary? attractive? or just plain stupid? Once you start, theres no end to this describing game. Description is almost a big necessity when it comes to RP posts and shouldnt be neglected. Don't treat RP like any other spam posts you make in order to make gold. Use the Spamfest thread or something of equivalent nature but not RP threads!
God Modding should be kept to minimum. Your character is no less different from other people's originality! He/She isn't anymore special nor are they and less special than others. Fair play is necessary in RP threads otherwise the whole thing just blows out of proportion. Despite being descriptive, this does not excuse yourself from the punishments of God Modding. What is God Modding? To put it anymore simpler than what it already is, God Modding is when your basicly being a superhuman. Dodging all bullets without breaking a sweat, landing a hit and even killing another user without having their permission to do so is a great offense and should be avoided at all cost. Try and keep your attacks limited to some vagueness and never write it directly hit their victims, instead write it so that the other person has some chance of survival and a choice to say whether or not it hit them or not. Also out of common courtesy its in your best interest to sometimes say you got hit otherwise every battle will drag on forever! Basicly be considerate of others and treat others like how you'd like to be treated!
Plot is something all RPs should have. This rule more than likely affects the thread creators so pay heed. A good RP should have a equally good background story to it so that any other newcomers joining it for the first time will have a good understanding of the background and how its started. Without plot the rp just becomes a spamfest of completely meaningless battle and may become dull and very boring. Bear in mind that not all RPs are focused around dueling and is sometimes better to have less battles and more socializing. Deception is a theme commonly enjoyed by most linguistic rpers, use alot of it I encourage everyone to. The creator of the thread should have a basic skekeltal structure of how the rp should be run and what storyline it will follow. This is something that may take more work than others who base their rps off animes (eg.Bleach?Naruto?) or stories(eg.Robin Hood, King Arthur, etc) Plot is a key that should be held closely with the thread master and the key players within the RP otherwise it become a hollow/shallow RP with no real purpose.

As for this thread, it will remain as a Tutorial RP where I will assume the role of Hatake Kakashi and teach any willing to come and learn first hand where they're going wrong and what they can improve. Might help if you assume a role of a Genin. Hmm fun fact I used to mod in a naruto RP forum which was going on for a year and a half.
