I just made a new mule ( her name is Opium-Rainbow if anyone wants to friend her) and within SECONDS I ended up with four friend requests and three PMs.
One of the PMs was a girl asking me if I liked fart jokes and farting.
The second one seemed entirely normal for a long period of time until I asked her how she was and got, "really horny lol i can't even go outside its that bad!" Now -- WHY WOULDN'T YOU BE ABLE TO GO OUTSIDE BECAUSE OF THAT? O_o; Not to mention WHY TELL SOMEONE THAT?
Anyway, yes, so that was a really, really strange "new" member experience.
How on earth do new people not get scarred for life within seconds? ;_;!

I've gotten strange PMs before, but not when I was new. If they happened then I would've been scared out of my brain.

Pretty well as soon as I made my character, I got a PM asking me to cyber with them. I told him a was a fat man pretending to be a chick... heehee.
It's really fun to mess with people who start up strange conversations. (and learning not to be surprised by anything has helped... rofl )

When I made a mule, I got friend requests and PMs soon after I made it. They weren't bad, though. The people were friendly and the PMs were clean. 3nodding

Everyone seems to pick on the new people. It's nicer if you make friends with them not pick on them. It's only gotten easier for them to be harrassed after gaia admins added that list of who is new on the bottom of the community page.

I was like that, anti-social, when I first stated out. So I never got any pms or anything, and I just avoided chatter box all together...I haven't changed much.
I'm still invisible, which is alright. They see me when I want them too.

Joining in 04 has many advantages. xd I think the "welcome new members!" thing is kind of stupid/dangerous.
