Chapter One
Christa walked down the street at three in the morning towards the neighborhood park. She had gotten in a fight with her best friend, Carl, earlier after dinner and just couldn’t sleep. So she got up, tired of being in the house, and pulled on a baggy pair of black pants and a black and purple shirt. The red tips of her long black hair reached to her lower back, and a long fringe of bangs was cut in front of one of her eyes.
As she got to the park she walked along the path into the small group of trees. In a slightly better mood she began to hum Vampires Will Never Hurt You, by My Chemical Romance. Right in the middle of the trees was a small gazebo, a gazebo that Christa often went to on her walks in the middle of the night. Normally no one was around whenever she went there, but tonight was different, there was someone in her gazebo, well, not that it was hers.
Christa stopped in her tracks to stare at this new addition. It appeared to be a guy about her age, but she had never seen him before. He had black hair down to just below his chin and he had thick black eyeliner with red around that. By this time the guy had realized she was there and turned his head to look at her. She blushed but walked the rest of the way to the gazebo and stepped up into it.
“I didn’t expect anyone to be here at this time.” She said awkwardly * he looks a lot like Gerard* she thought seeing him better now. “Do you come here often?” She then asked, wondering why she had never seen him before.
“No, I’m new in town” he said after a minute or so. * Wow he sounds like Gerard too! * She thought not putting two and two together. “Oh” she said not knowing anything else to say. Then he spoke again, catching her off gaurd, “do you come here often at three in the morning, by yourself?” He asks.
“Well, normally my best friend is with me but yea, most of the time” She said feeling oddly at ease with telling him this. Christa sat down on the bench that wasn’t occupied and started humming Helena, another song by My Chemical Romance. The boy looked at her and she stopped in case it was getting on his nerves. The next thing she knew he started singing the song, from the very beginning.
“Long Ago
Just like the hearse you died to get in again
We are
So far from you
Burning on
Just like a match you strike to incinerate
The lives of everyone you know
And what's the worst you take (worst you take)
from every heart you break (heart you break)
And like the blade you stain (blade you stain)
Well I've been holding on tonight
[Chorus]
What's the worst that I can say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight
Came a time
When every star fall brought you to tears again
We are the very hurt you sold
And what's the worst you take (worst you take)
from every heart you break (heart you break)
And like the blade you stain (blade you stain)
Well I've been holding on tonight
[Chorus]
What's the worst that I can say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight
and if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight
can you hear me?
Are you near me?
Can we pretend to leave and then
we'll meet again
when both our cars collide?
[Chorus]
What's the worst that I can say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight
and if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight”
He sounded exactly like Gerard* Christa thought. Its then that she put two and two together, “Crap your Gerard Way aren’t you!” She said loudly. He looked down at the ground then looked back at her defeated. “Of course you would figure it out” he spayed looking at her and smiling. “Omigawd, so like, you live in this town now?” Christa asked slightly gawking at him. “Yea, I convinced the band to give me my senior year at high school…” he said. “So you’re going to my school too!!” She practically screamed. “Are you a senior too?” He asked. “Yea, I am.” Christa said calming down.
Christa looked at her watch and saw that it had stopped. “What time is it?” she asked Gerard. “Its 3:50 in the morning.” He answers. “Crap, I gotta get home, my mom wakes up at 4:10 every morning!: she said standing up and stating to walk away. Gerard grabbed her wrist and she spun around. “Can I see you again, before school starts Monday?” he asks. “Yea, meet me here, tomorrow at two… In the morning, that’s my normal time.” She told him, “Now I gotta go!” She finished. “Bye…I never got your name…” he said. “Its Christa.” She said and with that she started to run home.
