Steve Irwin, also known as the Crocodile Hunter, as we all know, died a few days ago. Mr. Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest by a stingray barb whilst snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, at Batt Reef, which is located of the coast of Port Douglas in Queensland.
"If something ever happens to me, people are gonna say 'we knew a croc would get him!'" - Steve Irwin.
Some reports have claimed that immediately after being stabbed, Irwin pulled the barb out before losing consciousness a short time later. Irwin's colleague John Stainton originally confirmed this account, but he later denied it in an interview on CNN. It is thought, in the absence of a coroner's report, that a combination of the toxins and the puncture wound from the barb caused Irwin to die of cardiac arrest, with most damage being inflicted by tears to arteries or other main blood vessels. It is also possible that he died quickly as a result of a punctured aorta. Until the coroner's report is released, however, the precise cause of Irwin's death remains conjecture.
Mr. Irwin was known for his television show The Crocodile Hunter and his work with native Australian wildlife.
Have we suffered a great loss?

It is indeed a tragedy for the human world to lose a passionate conservationist like Steve Irwin, who believed in sharing his love for the natural world rather than merely preach about it.

KookieMunzta i heard about this its such a sad story, i feel bad for his family im just glad that it was doing what he loved i heard that they were going to destroy the tape... i hope they do for his familys sake if the public gets ahold of that...ugh I heard on the news, just a few minutes ago that they will indeed destroy the tape. I really hope they do. Because who wants to see an amazing person die, anyway? And I don't even want to imagine how hard it would be for his family and friends if they did show it. But there is one tape of the accident, filmed from a helicopter that's been shown. You don't see anything of Irwin, you just see the stingray when it hits Irwin with its barb.

KookieMunzta i hope they plan on destroying that tape as well I don't think it would really matter if they did or not. It's already out. It's too late. But I might be wrong though, it might have been some other stingray, and not the one that hit Mr. Irwin. But I believe it was the one that hit him and in that moment, seeing that it's rare that stingrays actually attack.

I may not of liked his show, but he was a great man and he will be missed. His family (especially his children) have suffered a great loss and will never outlive the pain. I grieve for his family and the wildlife.

there's a commercial that's been airing on animal planet where he's talking about his life. how he's been able to bring the animal world to the public. how he's helped to educate people with wild life and teach others who are interested in following in his footsteps. he also said how he knows he was brought into this world for that purpose and if he needs to take a few risks to help educate people with animals and their environment then it was all worth it.
it was a sad and tragic day when the world lost Steve Irwin. he'll be missed by lots. but he'll never be forgotten.
Steve Irwin, may he rest in peace.

It is really sweet. However, I just read an article that is not so sweet. Since Steve died ten days ago, there has been alot of dead Stingrays washing up on coastlines. A lot with their tails cut off. Which is both very sad and really annoying. Steve would never have wanted that to happen, even if a snake bit him he just explained that it was his fault and that the species should be protected. He'd do that with the stingray too, and now other people are blaming the stingrays, killing them because of what happened.
Did they forget what Steve Irwin fought for most of his life? I can't believe it. Damned morons.
